Pet Peeves... What gets your goat?

my pet peeve...driving...your driving along and coming to a side street or small intersection...some one pulls out in front of you in a hugh rush...then slows down to 10 miles an hour...drives me nuts.....

Denise:mad:

It makes me crazy when people say "yous" instead of "you." For some reason, I know several people who do this and I want to scream when they say it.

Well....to add to the list of driving pet peeves...I can't stand it when people leave their turn signal on! You're driving down the highway and someone has their signal on for miles.....!!!

Also, tlgoblue, my supervisor at work would just drive you craaaazy...she makes "how come" sound even worse...she says "hows come"....I think she does it cause she thinks it's cute...we all just think it's annoying!

Oh my! I can't spell for beans, terrible grammar, and have a language all my own.

None of these flaws bother me. :)

I usually over look flaws in others, but one pet peeve drives me nuts.

DH and I have many friends, we do lots of things with several couples. If one of the couples are not there, their ears must be ringing, because they are the conversation of the night and it's usually not good. I always ask, when were not here are we the conversation. They usually get the hint and change the subject.

DH will usually get right into the conversation. They did this, they did that.

I don't care what others do, and usually give him a look, he knows the look and changes the subject fast.

I try not to talk about what others do, because it usually comes back to haunt you.

When men refer to their wives as "the" wife.. "I'm going to pick up the wife.." Drives me nuts! Like they're talking about picking up "the" dry cleaning...

The ever-so-popular catch phrase, "I think it's time we took our relationship to the next level.." Sounds like they're on an elevator - not in a relationship..

People who are late and/or keep others waiting.. That's a BIG pet peeve of mine..

I hate when women with baby carriages use them like steam rollers in the mall
and I hate children under the age of ten referring to me as "hun"

I have two major ones:
1) people who cannot follow simple directions. Today I had to guide a woman step-by-step though the process of using a Debit machine at my store (not an ATM, the debit machines you use to pay at a store)-NOT a big deal. However, when I said "Push the 'OK' button" she pushed cancel, when I repeated she stared blankly at me and said "What do I do?". Also, I specifically told her 5 TIMES that she needed to hold the pen upright to sign because the point was broken, and what does she do? Signs it all 5 times with the pen on a slant, nothing registering.
2) People who feel the need to play the race card, when nothing racial is going on. Also today (i'll make a long story short) a man yelled at me and got nasty, while I was simply talking to him. He wanted to do an exchange, but since we're closing, everything is final sale. I was simply explaining, he was screaming. I told him I could exchange for the exact same thing, same color, diff size. He brought it up in a different color, which I was not allowed to do. When my friend and I told him this, he accused us of yelling at him, and being racist because we supposedly did an exchange for a white woman the night before (we stated she probably had a reciept from before the final sale was put into place, but he INSISTED that he knew she purchased the item the same time he did...SIGH!!!)
Working in retail, I have a LOT of pet peeves, these are just my two main ones...from today!

I hate when I step on the brakes and the car doesn't stop!!

People who drive around at night with their fog lights on AND THERE AIN'T NO FOG AROUND!!!!

Oh yeah, that reminds me: People who post in all capitals letters or in bold.;)

Oh man...Driving pet peeves needs to be its own thread!!!
I hate when you're in the slow lane and people ride right up your butts when NOONE is in the fast lane, so they can easily go around you!!!
I also hate (not sure if this is a problem everywhere?) the way Staten Island teenage boys "hook up" their cars with absolutely nothing performance-wise. (I never knew blue headlights, purple windshield fluid lights, and blacklights added 75hp?) and then they go to car shows and pretend they know all about cars! Assuming their Hondas (with no mods) can beat a camaro, mustang, or corvette that is hooked up performance-wise...it's just silly!

This would have to be at the top of my list too. I love when I get an agenda for a meeting that states the meeting starts at 7:30 SHARP and then it doesn't really start until much later. Our Cub Scouts Pack is famous for this!!

TV shows or commercials with people eating and chewing loudly or talking with their mouths full. It's just gross.

That's definetly one of mine!!!:p

Going grocery shopping when the members of the Oblivious Family are there. They're the people who stop their carts in the middle of the aisles instead of parking them on the side so that the other shoppers can get through. And even after five people say "excuse me" and ask to get through, they still don't seem to understand that leaving their carts in the middle of the aisle is not a good idea.

Also, when people make quotation marks with their fingers.

I figured mine would be "taken" by now, but it's still open...LOL. I hate it when someone ahead of me at the grocery store waits until their entire cart of groceries is rung up before even beginning to look for their checkbook, not to mention start writing the check! It makes me want to make a sarcastic comment!!

My #1 PP is....

People who are late and dont call... or call at the time they are suppose to show up, and say they are going to be late... UM... didnt you know 1/2 hour ago, when you were suppose to leave, that you were running late. That is the time to call. Not later.

I feel better, and I am sorry for all those who posted about poor grammar and speeling... It is very late and I should be in bed.

I have several pet peeves, and by no way am I a mean person but...

I hate it when people are not geographically correct. We live in Maryland and , my DH will say "Hey Kim when we go up to Florida, can we stop by the beach and pickup sea shells." Last time I checked Florida was south of Maryland. or he'll say "Kim when we fly down to Boston this weekend, lets stop by Fanuel Hall and take in the sights." Last time I checked Boston was north of Maryland. It drives me nuts.

I hate when forgieners who have lived in this country for years and don't try to learn a lick of english, and ask you do you speak their language so that you can try and depict what they are talking about. Hey this is America, buddy adapt.

My ultimate pet peeves are rude people and people who go out in public and talk loud while cursing just to be heard.

I'm stepping off of my perch now, because I could go on.

Sorry, but I just had to add this to my (ever growing)list of pet peeves! My daughters' school sends home a newsletter every month. Not a month goes by that there isn't at least one spelling and/or grammar error in the newsletter! What kind of message does this send to our kids? Just once I would like to get my red pen out and have my way with the newsletter!!!

I was waiting for the bus the other day and overheard two women talking. One of the ladies had just gotten back from a job interview, she said she thought she had done rather well and exclaimed "I told them I've got skills." I had to chuckle.
I work in customer service and I don't like when customer's try and talk to me while they're having a conversation on their cell phones.

LIARS, CHEATERS and THIEVES.

In addition to when my Dh calls me "the boss" (even though I am), my Dh is very loud and has a hearing issue (selective) and when my Dh and Ds yell from one room to another. Hellooooooooooo.....get up, walk over and speak, don't yell.

That's funny, because seeing people hold their utensils incorrectly kind of irritates me, too! :p

I have a few basic pet peeves, like tardiness and inconsiderate behavior, but this is my absolute number one pet peeve:

I'm from the Philippines, so you can clearly tell that I'm not from the US. I've spoken English since I was born, and I can "fake" an American accent well enough to fool anyone (seriously). Most people don't think anything of it (or maybe they just don't tell me!), but I've encountered a number of Americans who, when they discover that I'm a foreigner, tell me "Wow, you speak English SO WELL!" I realize that these people might think that they're complimenting me, but really, I find it kind of insulting. So when people say that to me, I just smile and say, "Thanks, so do you!" :teeth:
