Pet Peeves... What gets your goat?

I hate when people throw their cigarette butts out the car window. Helloooooo that little drawer in there is an ASHTRAY!

...when people drop by unexpectedly...just give me a quick call to let me do a "ten second tidy" to give the house a quick pick up

You must live near me!! I moved here 4 1/2 years ago and I cannot get over that one! Well that, and "making groceries." I still don't get that one!

My other MAJOR pet peeve is fathers who watch their kids without mom around and call it baby-sitting!! Hello, it is called fatherhood! The ones who expect rewards for the kids being alive when mom comes home are the worst!

smacking and crunching food,gum, etc....... It's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me!! And everytime I go to a movie theater someone always sits right behind me!! And that is the worst time too, when you are trying to watch the movie and all you can hear is them eating. Annoying!

I hate it when a car salesman wouldn't give me the time of day when I am looking for a new car! Actually, I was at the dealership getting my OLD van an oil change, and I was there for about 45 minutes. The rep would only spend 20 seconds with me.

And no, the dealership was not full of customers, only the salesreps rehashing the Packer loss from the previous day.

Errrrrr! The gum thing!!! I agree!!! People walk around in public smacking and popping their gum like stupid cows. Oh man, it makes me positively homicidal - I swear I want to stab them in the throat with a pen when they do that. Just can't stand it!!! Aaauuuggghhh!!!!

When people lie or don't tell the whole truth (same as lying in my book). Since being a teacher, I have developed a talent of telling if someone is lying really easily now.

I'm in my car waiting patiently for the coming car to pass me so I can pull out into traffic- and he turns where I am waiting- THANKS FOR THE SIGNAL, BUDDY! This happens all the time when I am waiting to pull out of dd's school.

People that have coughing fits in public and don't cover their mouths. THANKS FOR THE GERMS, BUDDY!

I can guarantee this will happen. Nobody around me when the movie starts. About 10 min. after the movie starts somebody sits right behind me chewing on popcorn or rattling the plastic wrapper on the candy or talking. I prefer to watch videos at home.

How about people who never use the word "doesn't". They use "don't" for everything. She don't like it. Wal-Mart don't have it. It don't matter. Yuck!

My husband is guilty of this and it drives me insane! I tell him exactly that all the time, it's not babysitting when they are your kids!

My pet peeves:

that my DH will walk PAST the dishwasher to put a dirty dish in the sink

people who assume I must be unintelligent because I am a stay at home mom

people who do not have children criticizing any of my parenting decisions

mothers who feel the need to make raising a child a competitive sport...the fact that your child walked 2 months sooner than mine does not make you a better mother!

my sister in law...just in general

people who spit on the ground in public places

this whole hip hop language thing

parents who can not be bothered to actually pay attention to their children


I could go on and on, but I guess I should stop now!

This one bugs me.

When you really don't care about something at all, it is wrong to say, "I could care less." The correct way to say it is, "I couldn't care less." If you say you could care less, you are saying that you do care some and there is room to care less. If you say you couldn't care less, you are at rock bottom in caring. You can not possibly care any less.

I have another one...I hate to see or hear people's food when they are eating it. There is nothing worse then hearing people smack at their food. I had an Uncle that would just chomp at his food and it would go flying all over the place....reeeeeeeeeeeeeealy sick!

I hate it when people leave the cupboard doors standing open and when they don't push the chairs back under the table. My brother lived with me for awhile and he always did this. It drove me crazy.

I pick up pop cans all over the house. I can't tell you how many times I've told DD to pick them up!

DD thinks I'm a fanatic, but I don't like water spots on the faucets and mirrors. I'm continually cleaning!

Maybe I am a fanatic!?!

I work for a physican's answering service and I hate when people call up and they can't understand that the doctor's office is not open at 9:00 at night. They think they are getting the ofc and not the answering service and I keep thinking, what dr's ofc is open @ 9pm at night?

OMG!!! The "Oblivious Family" !!! I love that!!!! I simply HATE it when you have to spend 30 extra minutes just to pick up a few things cause everybody else feels like they must be the only ones in the whole store. A note here though.... When there is 2-3 year old sitting in the shopping cart - That is okay... When DS was that age, I didn't want to even begin to deal with what could happen if the shelves were in arms reach! I did try to keep to the middle of the aisle. But, I tried to not block people to much, and apologized if I did so.

And, throwing cigarette butts out the window... UGGHHHH!!!! Yep, that is what the ashtrays are for!!! Duhhhh.... that is just really gross and showing that one is self centered and has no regard for how their actions affect others. (Truth be told, smoking is a pet peeve of mine too... Hate people who just have to constantly smoke around non-smokers.)

Okay, here is my BIGGIE that has not been mentioned yet. It is people who only halfway do what they are supposed to be doing!!! I have been known to call this 'half-@@@' (Excuse the french!!!) But it is just epidemic. It seems that no matter where I go or what I do, there is somebody who could not care less whether they do what they need to do, are being payed to do... And they could care even less if they do it right. You know, like the simple fast food order at the drive thru that gets screwed up EVERY time.... Or, something that needs fixed, and it is just ignored or only halfway rigged.... The kinds of little things that cause WAY bigger problems because somebody didn't take one second to see that it was right to begin with. I HATE that... It seems to be epidemic! When I do something, I try to do it RIGHT... I don't 'halfway' cook a meal... (at least I try!!!) I don't 'halfway' do the laundry... (I sort, pretreat, use bleach, softener, as needed) I don't 'halfway' clean the bathroom. I don't 'halfway' take care of my DS.... etc... etc... Halfway doing things will always backfire and create MORE work. It really gets my goat when I have more work because some-body else was slack.

So, people who halfway do things because they just don't care - THAT is my biggest pet peeve right now!

Someone mentioned hip hop language which reminded me of one of my pet peeves -

People older than say, 20, saying 'Bling Bling'. Honestly, I hate that particular slang no matter who says it, but it seriously annoys me when, say my 45 yo sil says it.

I also hate commercials that show people with food on their face. KFC has one on right now for their bbq wings. There are, I hope, no grown men who would leave that much bbq sauce on their face expect possibly during some kind of eating contest (which is also pretty disgusting).

It makes me crazy that DH & DS do not put their dishes in the dishwasher. The dishwasher is right next to the sink, its just as quick to put in the dishwasher as to put in the sink. It must be really hard to figure out that door.
The other thing is people that drive slow in the fast lane on highways.

Sue you just cracked me up. The only difference in my house is it is my DD and DS. You sounded just like my DH in your post. It is a little helpful to know that we are not alone with these peeves.
