I would object to the latter scenario as well, but how on earth can the OP or any of us possibly know that's the case by witnessing one single moment in time of somebody else's life?
Because, frankly, between 75% and 90% of the time you can
hear one side of the conversation (and all its inanities, but that's just my opinion/observation), whether you want to or not.

Um, well, "Yeah, now I'm stepping down off the curb on Main Street... now I'm walking toward the castle parallel to the tracks; man, I wish they sold gum or alcohol in this park... so, how's the weather back home? Are you still dating Jimmy?... yeah, I think I'll go get a Dole Whip... what do you mean, what's a Dole Whip? You haven't lived until you've eaten one... you really should think about vacationing here some time..." isn't an urgent conversation.

Um, you probably do and don't realize it. I don't mean YOU, specifically, but anybody using a cell phone generally speaks louder than they think. In a live conversation, we tend to match volume to whoever we're speaking with. On a cell phone, that's not possible. The person on the other end is likely using a landline and speaking in their normal voice; the cell phone user thinks they're speaking quietly, but,,,

My family is one of those families who sends up members to order food, sorry for any inconvenice. We have always found it easier for a couple of people to go get the food, while the kids stay at a table. Not to mention that we are normally at least in a group of 7 or more people, its hard to find a seat just like that.
But then you're taking up a table for however long it takes to order, pay for, receive and transport your food AND however long it takes to eat it. Meanwhile, OTHER Guests who already
have their food are left with nowhere to sit. As has been pointed out earlier in this thread, chances are that party would be done and gone by the time you get your food to your table; instead, they're stuck searching for someplace to sit while your party holds a table.

This was a whole new idea for my children, and while I don't physically push them up, I would like them to go. Sometimes it takes just a couple of minutes. I would never force them, but my kids don't always make up their minds on a dime.
But in many cases, the Character is only there for a limited period of time - maybe twenty minutes at a shot. If the Character can autograph/photograph one party per minute, that's twenty parties. But if five of the twenty have children who require "a couple of minutes" of urging, now the Character only gets to see fifteen parties.

OMG, yes!!! Any chance you're going to be there at the beginning of October?
This is the one place at Disney I don't hesitate to be assertive or even out-and-out rude if necessary! Bowling for People, I love it!

Sometimes it just isn't that easy to see something if everyone around is taller! Can't ask when the dh is at the table the table with the kids, who are all little. I try to respect others, but sometimes it doesn't matter what you do you are on the losing end.
But you could hang back a little in the line until you can see past the tall people in front of you for a minute or so and look at the menu. Just wait until you're in the railed line section, and hold on to both railings so nobody cuts in front of you. But if your dh and kids are already seated, you must already know what they want, right? Would it be possible to choose your own order at the same time they're informing you of their choices?

I have ofter wondered the same thing about smokers, why do they blow the smoke away from themselves?
What's the alternative? Blow smoke toward themselves? How?

Wednesday night after Spectromagic, I sat on a white bench with my DS to tie his shoe. Unfortunately someone had left there gum (also white) on the bench rather than in the trash 2 feet away - ruined my brand new black mickey shorts.
Not necessarily, especially if you haven't washed them yet. Use ice cubes to freeze the gum and chip it off with an old credit card as it freezes, or stick the shorts in a freezer. Use a fabric degreaser on the spot after the gum's gone, then wash in cold water (which you probably want to do with black anyway. Air-dry.

This just came to me thinking about the whole give up your sit thing on buses:
Why do some people get out of their wheelchairs or electric scooters and take up another seat on the buses? Just wondering why they don't stay in their wheelchair and leave the other seat for someone else. It can't be a safetly thing because I've seen people stay in them.
Yes, you could stayin the wheelchair or
ECV and be strapped in, along with it, by the bus driver. BUT it's safer, when the Guest is able to transfer, to move to a seat and have just the chair/ecv strapped down.

In the event of an emergency the last thing you want to have to do is get that person back in the wheelchair to get them off the, in this case, bus. When you consider the extra effort the driver has to expel to board the chair it is sometimes pretty disheartening to see the person that was so carefully boarded get up and walk to a seat.
I don't know where you work, but the Disney bus drivers encourage, or at least recommend that, Guests who can transfer do so. As for the extra effort, well, yes, the driver extends the ramp or lift, but
I maneuver onto the ramp/lift, then onto the bus, then parallel park the ECV. Ever tried that? It's a lot harder than
pressing some buttons.

How about people who feel the need to shout and scream in the Haunted Mansion trying I guess to be funny?
Oh! I was in the stretching room with (among others) a boy who looked to be about nine and VERY frightened. Since I was in an ECV, I was eye-level with him, and I started talking to him quietly, telling him that it was all just Disney magic, and there's nothing to be afraid of, and how I'd ridden it about a hundred times and nothing bad ever happened. He looked more relaxed; just then, the lights went out (planned) and two nearby teenagers SCREAMED. They KNEW this kid was nervous, it was completely unnecessary. That poor kid - I don't think he ended up riding

2. Not to be rude, but guests who are in electric wheel chairs, and proceed to run over everyone's feet in front of them. That HURTS! A simple 'excuse me' would do just fine. Being in a wheel chair is not an excuse to cause harm to others.
4. Guests who litter. True story: I was in line for Space Mountain, when I came up to the turn style near the loading dock and spotted more than 200 plastic bottles on a ledge to my left. Have people NO respect for WDW?! I was so upset. (I know..its just litter. And, its not my responsibility. But still...)
First, I (and I think pretty much every ECV user) do not intentionally run over anybody's feet - not even my own, and yes, I did that once. People on foot frequently do not 'see' the ECVs and just walk - and these heavy items do NOT stop on a dime. You release the throttle as soon as somebody walks into your path, but inertia keeps it moving a bit - and the result is yes, sometimes somebody's toes get run over.
200 bottles sounds more like they were
removed from the trash for recycling.

Does this "Walker Texas Ranger" BIL character have some public duty that trumps the 1st Amendment?
Um., I'm pretty sure the First Amendment doesn't protect cellular phone usage. What's said during the conversation, yes, but not the method of communication.

You know, to the other person, you're the one that's heading straight toward them and not veering off.
But it's easier and more sensible for the group of four or five (who take up about ten feet or more across) to avoid the two-or-so-foot wide individual.

even when walking past the smoking areas i can feel myself get ill(and i don't walk past them on purpose, since i'm not a smoker i don't really map out the sections).
But why don't you? Given your medical situation, I would think knowing where the smoking areas are would be EXTREMELY beneficial to you.

i wore shorts and my bikini top once, it was in the middle of summer and it had to be at least 105 with the humidity and it was just too hott to wear anything else.
Are you sure it was too hot to wear anything else? Were all the Guests dressed in a similar fashion - or were some wearing tank tops, tee-shirts, etc?

When my kids have a problem in the car I always stop in the middle of the freeway to find out what is wrong. People act so rude when I do this. Why do they think the road is just for them?
39CINDERELLA said:
your post was referring to the park not the freeway.
It's a comparison. A driver would not simply stop in the middle of a road, he or she would first maneuver safely out of the flow of traffic. There's no reason people on foot should behave any differently.

What if someone is on vacation and their business needs them or there is a family emergency? I agree there is a time and place for everything but if you are decreet about it you can get away with using your cell phone.
Sure, as long as the cellphone users are, as you said, discreet and considerate, fine. I was in a virtually empty restaurant with one brother recently when another brother called his cell phone. After some fun (I answered, and when he asked what I was doing with G's cell phone, I said he gave it to me last time he visited), G took the phone
outside the restaurant for the rest of the conversation.

Actually, you can't. Seriously - after a VERY short amount of time, a few minutes, you become inured to your own aroma.

ewww- in traffic my husband leaves a space in front of him (when he is in front of a entrance/exit etc so people can get in or out) and a few times- someone drove AROUND him and took the space!!! i swear! how gross is that?
As nice as your husband is being, and as rude as the other driver seems, you do need to remember that if you're in a long line of traffic, all those drivers behind you need/want to get somewhere at least as badly as the drivers pulling onto the roadway. One car I don't mind (there's a highway off-ramp near my house; when traffic is backed up on both the ramp and the road, (the reasonable) drivers on the road - who actually have the right of way - will alternate with the off-ramp traffic. This is sensible; the driver on the road who lets ten cars come off the ramp on front of him is being inconsiderate of the drivers behind him.

Plus, keep in mind that sometimes (maybe it's not WDW?) the changing table is installed in the handicapped stall
I'm fairly certain that, while there is a changing table in many of the handicapped stalls at Disney World, there are ALSO changing tables out in the main part of the restroom for general use. I think the changing tables are in the HP stalls in case the person changing the baby is handicapped. I mean, often these stalls have sinks in them - that doesn't mean that's the ONLY sink in that particular restroom.

I'm just curious why you wouldn't find two stalls next to each other and tell your daughter to stay in hers until you come out of yours and knock on the door? I'm assuming, of course, that she's capable going by herself.
