Pet peeves I saw today at Magic Kingdom

My biggest pet peeve is people who think their kids are the cutest, most darling, most perfect things ever and that everyone else should recognize that and overlook obnoxious things they're doing.

This includes but is not limited to parents who let their kids:

-- push in front of us at parades when we've been waiting over an hour. Or, parents who let their kids stand behind us at parades and dance along to the music, kneeing and elbowing our backs the whole time. If your child is hitting someone else, it's time to make them stop!

-- push strollers (little kids don't have enough control of these things to manage crowds)

-- run around restaurants and buffets, or, worse, turn around in the booth to bother the people sitting behind them

-- feed the birds

--run screaming down hotel corridors

I'm not anti-kid, but I don't think the majority of kids are really cute enough to get away with being so annoying. ;)

Another general pet peeve is people who are rude to CMs who are just doing their jobs, and those wishy washy people who still don't know what they want to order when they get to the front of a 20 minute line.

Yup... There are a million reasons to get upset at people around you... I have... You have to try to laugh it off... You can be polite and say excuse me, can I sit there, or I appreciate if you would smoke in the designated areas... Don't ever let these things ruin your trip or your time with with your family.. Life is to short... People that are rude or not prepared don't really know they are that way... So just walk away and thank God your not like that... I always try to turn it into a funny story afterwords..

 How about the people who eat at a CS place and leave their trash on the tables? It's not fair for them to expect the next group of hungry and tired people behind them to clean up after them (which I have done). Oh: clean up your spills... how long does it take? A minute? And, if you insist on giving your 2 year old Cheerios, please take *another* minute and pick up the crumbs and mashed up bits that are on the chairs, table, floor...!

I already ranted about deodorant usage, and that is my #1 pet peeve. I can deal with whiny kids (I have one), smokers, and obnoxious people (I am sure that I have had my moments). But unbathed non-deodorant users in the blazing Florida sun and 100% humidity can ruin my blissed-out Disney high faster than Willie Parker running for a touchdown (any Steeler fans out there?).

Whew... that felt good!

People who see their kids splashing other guests on purpose and playing way too rough while the pool is crowded. I love them: "oh Johnny, don't do that, teeheeteehee..." How effective is that? NOT! I have a 7 year old, and I have made it a priority to teach her manners and the basics of common decency.

:confused3 What has happened to manners? :worried:

No- please DO NOT get rid of the little "smokey guy" cuz i like 'em and he is part of my signature!

just because people see the little dude does not mean someone is going to be tempted to light up that has never smoked before!-- we are all adults here and we do not need people starting to dictate what little cartoons are "politically correct"!

:moped: wear your helmet!
:coffee: caffine is bad for you!
:duck: dont throw rocks- you are going to poke someones eye out!
:worship: hey- who is he praying/worshiping to??
:badpc: you need anger management!
 what are you saying- people that have mental problems are "crazy"?
:clown: clowns just scare me--- i think they are creepy- i think they should be banned form this site.
:santa: santa?? not even touching that one after the whole holiday religious debate!
:wizard: witchcraft??- (not that anything is wrong with that! :thumbsup2 )
:love2: hey wait-- is that a boy and a girl??
:drinking1 driking is wrong- it can lead to alcoholism!

OK I AM DONE-- BUT DO YOU GET MY POINT-- ??! :scratchin

Yes, and if my objection were because of political correctness then I would completely agree with you. If you knew me you would know just how much I hate political correctness and how I think it is more offensive coming up with a cutesy name or symbol then just saying it like it is. That being said..with the exception of the Helmet one, none of the others has been proven to kill you and the rider one doesn't directly make reference to wearing a helmet but the smoker does. You have a point with the drinking one but the implication that it is alcohol that is being drunk is an individual assumption. I could just as easily be just soda. There is no mistaking that it is a cigarette being shown. I quit smoking 8 years ago, went 7 years without touching a cigarette and then fell of the wagon briefly. Quiting the second time was just as hard as the first and I only occasionally had one during that time. I don't want anyone to think that smoking is in anyway cool, it isn't and it shouldn't be promoted as a positive thing like that "smile" does. Do you get my point?

Sorry for the veer off topic but I am done also.

I have one. It has always bothered me to see kids in the parks playing Gameboys/PSPs/etc. I want to ask the parents: "As long as you're throwing away money for their admission, would you mind throwing some my way?" I mean, c'mon, your on vacation at a place that has tons of things to do. Can't we leave the games at home for just a few days and actually see the world around us??

A little of topic but yes you are right about people not knowing they are doing something. I had a friend that used foul language in normal conversation bad thing is it was every other word out of his mouth. So in topic of conversation the one day he asked why I thought he was a jerk. I told him about his problem so one day he taped his conversation for the whole day and played it back and after listening to it for 10 mins he knew I was right and worked on trying to change it especially since he had 2 little girls who soon at the age of speaking. He told me thank you for pointing it out him. He never realised he swore that much and nobody ever told him about it. So he now tries to keep his swearing in check.

Those cheerleaders are there for nationals...aka the bigtime. :cheer2: So cheerleading in on their mind. If it puts them at ease to go throught their routines over and over while they're on line or waiting for stuff whats the big deal? It's not like they're hitting you...just don't look at them!
Those cheerthings were a pain in the @$$. Running around in packs, I was unlucky enough to be behind a whole gaggle of those people a few weeks ago while in line for EE. They were yelling at anothe gaggle of cheerthings in another part of the line. They were totally obnoxious, and there were many a rolling eye in the line.
Then we were again unlucky enough to be on Dinosaur with my wife and 12 cheerthings and the broke out in a cheer while on the ride.
I played Varsity sports in high school and college, and had more than one cheerthing, I'm so glad I never married one.

I have often thought of allowing my son to bring his into the park to keep him entertained in line. But not for him actually walking around the park playing it. But my son( who is 12) is the type who would either lose it or break it. So pretty much i would be stuck with carrying it. So I dont allow him to bring it for that reason but if he was more responsible I see no reason children who have these cant play them while waiting in line especially when some of the times I have been there lines were 70 mins long. Definetly better then having them run around, bump into adults, climb rails, and poke people with their swords or wands or whetever else they cant think of to pass time.

Just back from Universal and let me add to your list:

1. People who feel the line doesn't apply to them

2. People (men, women and teens) who feel the need to wear bathing suits to the park no matter how they look in them. YIKES!

3. Parents who drag their crying terrified small children onto rides

As for number 3 Please try to remmeber that these children belong to those parents. Those parents know thier children the best. My children are exactly like those crying children. IF they have never been on a ride before they will be scared and yes sometimes cry when in line. After the ride however they ask to do it again. Some rides I know they won't do for example my youngest won't do a ride that she gets wet on. My first child missed out on alot of rides she would have enjoyed because when I was a new parent I let her be the parent.

Here's the protocol I follow with regard to cell phone users in the park...or anywhere else:
1) If the user is talking in a place where talking is not appropriate, I complain to a CM or other authority.
2) If the user is talking uncomfortably loud or is "disoriented" by his own call, I complain to the user.
3) If neither #1 or #2 apply, I mind my own business.

If the cell phone abusers really drive you nuts, a handheld cell phone jammer is a godsend. My brother in law (who travels heavily) has one, and that stealthy little tool has allowed to drive the blabbermouths crazy!

That is just wrong. :sad2: What gives him or anybody else the right to decide if someone else's phone call is important or not?

How can something like this be legal? In fact, I don't think they are legal in the US.

You can't just ignore it when they're doing it while waiting in line for an attraction. It totally ruins the ambiance of the queue and, in my opinion, is obnoxious.

Why do you even spend money on admission if everything annoys you??? :furious:

Seems you could go to the local mall and enjoy yourself equally as well and have some money in your pocket too. :confused3

Just a question. :scratchin :thumbsup2

Life is good in the Magic Kingdom. You probably noticed in my siggy that my family spends alot of time and money in these parks. As much as there are things that annoy us there is so much more that delights us. Maybe when we have exhausted this thread we will start one that talks all about the little things we love about disney. I think we have carried this thread on because people want a place to see if its alright to feel a certain way about people's behavior in the parks and its nice to know we aren't the only ones aggrevated at certain situations which makes us all more tolerable. To know that it just isn't happening to me makes me feel better because sometimes it seems that I am the only one these things are happening to. Maybe this thread will make us all more patient and realize that there probably won't be much we can do about all these things but just to be tolerable of them after all we are still in the happiest place on earth.

Hey! Not all of us turn out to be loud, obnoxious adults!

As a former coach, the cheers going on in lines annoys even me, who should be able to tolerate it! :cheer2:

I'm wondering the same about the legality of this. :confused3 I hate to think someone anywhere, not just WDW, would be on an emergency situation phone call and to have it be interupted or disconnected or whatever the gadget does.

People who wear sandals and take them off only to put there bare feet on the seat in front of them. Hey I may be sitting there some day. Or they play with their feet. I've seen this at Country bears and Philharmagic many times

I'm sorry this bothers you. I will sit down at WDW and take off my shoes and socks to give me feet some air cause my feet get so hot. I never try to put them on a seat in front of me and I don't it isn't even good me just doing my above. It's just to really cool off your feet this is the only thing I can do. :confused3
