Pet peeves I saw today at Magic Kingdom

I can honestly deal with almost everything at WDW except for the people who stop and have little conversations amongst themselves in the middle of busy walkways. Over President's week. We would try to navigate the very busy walkway between Liberty Square and Peter Pan's Flight. EVERYTIME, a group of 4-10 people will have stopped in the middle of the path in a wide circle talking. Ya know, you could move over to the benches near the restrooms, over near the stroller parking or just get out of the way. Geez, that drives me crazy.

You know what else annoys me? When people stand in line for the Ladies restroom (why oh why is there ALWAYS a line?) and can see a child, or indeed an adult, in line behind them that is clearly in more urgent need of a bathroom than you, but no one ever lets them in? :confused3 If I see someone who clearly needs to use the bathroom, especially very small children, I let them in - no need to ruin everyone's day and have to buy expensive overpriced Disney underwear when the four year old didn't realise she'd had one too many cokes today...

Just returned this morning from a great week at Disney but there was one thing that bothered me at Mickeys Philharmagic. It seems everytime that Ariel appears on the screen, there is always some off key wannabe singer trying to sing like her! The first time we went to see the show, I let it slide, but the next time, I turned around as soon as she started and said "Your not going to sing are you?" and she stopped. Of course, being a Mom, I think it would be cute if it was a little girl singing, but these are grown women who should really just sit quietly and enjoy the show!

It bugs me that some people are too lazy to clear their trash off the table when they're done eating at a CS restaurant. They just get up and leave everything there, even with trash containers right behind them.

I don't know... I posted some time ago that I was bothered by those who like to prop their hotel room door open with the door latch and let the kids run in and out. The problem with that is, if I'm in the room next door, I've been out at PI until it closed and I'm not getting up for extra magic hour or even park opening, I don't really appreciate the bang, bang, bang whenever the door hits the latch. (BTW, if you really have to do this, wrap a washcloth around the latch).

Someone else replied that they were bothered by the likes of me coming home from PI late because they were awakened by the mere act of someone in the next room opening and closing their room door (not slamming it; opening and closing it normally).

While there is a fix for the door banging (the aforementioned washcloth) the only way to fix that one is to knock on the neighbor's door in the early evening, determine when they're going to bed, and then make sure I am shut up in my room until after they get up in the morning, so I don't plan to be that accommodating. But there's going to be someone who is bothered by pretty much anything you can think of.

When people stand in line for the Ladies restroom (why oh why is there ALWAYS a line?) and can see a child, or indeed an adult, in line behind them that is clearly in more urgent need of a bathroom than you, but no one ever lets them in?

There's a fix for that one too, it's called "My kid is going to pee on the floor in a minute, do you mind if she goes first?" It's easier than expecting those already in line to read minds or to even pay attention to who's in line behind them.

I know I'll be in the minority here but I'm used to it so flame away.

Peeve 1 - sorry but I smoke. If I am outside, I have the right to smoke as much as you have the right not to. Whatever you may think about cigarettes and/or smoking, I really don't care so please don't preach to me. Last time I checked, it's still MY choice.

If you are that sensitive to smoke, (asthma/allergies), then maybe you should be the one to stay home. Why am I suppose to stop my activites because you are around? I paid the same price as you to get in to WDW. If you want to make the park non-smoking, express you concerns to WDW management.

Peeve 2 - all the whining on this thread about heelies, strollers, giving up a seat on the bus. It's always me, me, me.

this is the very type of person that inspires these threads to be started. :)

I apologize, I didn't mean to say that I would smoke anywhere at WDW, what I meant is anywhere that it is legal...in my car or outside in the open. I was referring to the women who got sick in her car at the drive through. I understand the rules at WDW, I only smoke in the designated areas.

Can I really make the anti-peeve crowd upset and add one more that I noticed today at Downtown Disney?

Do you really need to take a picture of little Junior wearing every funny Disney hat that they sell at World of Disney? Completely blocking people from walking through the middle of the store in the process?

Oh My....

Let's see...first off, I just want to say that I am SO thankful for the DIS. I have learned so many things from boards, and they have positively made all subsequent vacations MUCH more magical. I feel 'in the know', and have found fun little known things to do per others suggestions that I never knew existed.

Ok..here are my peeves:

1. SMOKING...when guests smoke (who obviously should not be because smoking is not allowed at WDW Theme Parks except in designated areas) and then proceed to blow it in your face, and have no regard for others.

2. Not to be rude, but guests who are in electric wheel chairs, and proceed to run over everyone's feet in front of them. That HURTS! A simple 'excuse me' would do just fine. Being in a wheel chair is not an excuse to cause harm to others.

3. Guests who honestly believe that they are the only people in existence in the park that day.

4. Guests who litter. True story: I was in line for Space Mountain, when I came up to the turn style near the loading dock and spotted more than 200 plastic bottles on a ledge to my left. Have people NO respect for WDW?! I was so upset. (I know..its just litter. And, its not my responsibility. But still...)
This type of behavior takes AWAY from the magic of others. Why are people allowed to go on rides with food/drink? Sure, I've ridden SM dozens of times. But, the girl behind me may be about to ride for the first time. That's not how I would want to remeber such a neat ride. I sure hope they fix that problem, soon. Also, it smelled like urine walking in the door.

OK that's it.. :duck:

While I don't like smoke, I appreciate the inclusion of designated smoking areas at WDW. I'm not going into them. WDW or not, no one has the right to go into a designated smoking area and say "Put out that cigarette, I'm bringing my child into this area."

I hope Disney is taking a look at the smoking areas...years ago, in AK, they had one in an alcove behind the Chester and Hester store. This was fine, except that there was a big dinosaur statue in the alcove. Kids would see the dinosaur and go running into the midst of the smokers. I think they've moved the smoking area from that alcove, so maybe they're watching.

I have been reading these boards and see that some people find it ok to save a table for their family in line ordering food. I don't have a problem with that. I have a problem with them saving a table when the line is a half hour long. Save a table all you want but please be conscious of how long it might take your family to order and wait for their food. The average family on the go could probably eat in 20 minutes. The table you are saving ,someone could have used and been done by the time your family gets out of line.

This post made me so angry. Kill yourself, don't try to kill us too. As for the asthma comment, and saying they should just stay at home to avoid smoke, that is ridiculous.
You should have respect for the people around you.

As for my pet peeve. Apart from not abiding by the smoking laws, it is when someone leaves their rubbish on the tables and doesn't clean it up. It happens all the time here too and it makes me so mad.

Well, I see 2 sides to this. When I'm in line for the ladies' room if there is someone behind me who expresses that they need to go ahead of me I will do so. Lots of times I've even offered to have a little one go ahead of me. On the flip side on our trip last summer *I* had to use the restoom but rest of family was lolligagging in a shop. By the time we got to the restroom there was a L-O-N-G line and by the time I got to the front if I had anyone go ahead of me then this 40 year old woman would need to be buying new undies!

When my kids had meltdowns (very very rare), I took them away from the situation. I wasn't about to let them be disruptive in public.

I thank you! I only wish more parents had enough courtesy to the same.

One other good spot is near One Man's Dream. I enjoy walking through the exibit, but skip the movie. This gives me enough time to head towards the green door, up towards the hat and make a right to the smoking area. While the family enjoys the movie, I enjoy my breather :coffee:

The utter medical irony of calling a smoke break a 'breather'

You just can't make up stuff this funny, can you?

:lmao:

>>>"I have ofter wondered the same thing about smokers, why do they blow the smoke away from themselves?"<<<

Cause it's kind of hard to blow smoke into themselves, don't you think?

What appears to be away from themselves actually is an effort to blow it to a neutral spot that will least effect people. When I was a smoker, I did that all the time. When you're facing forward you usually are face to face with someone, so you make the attempt to blow it sideways and away from the ones that you are talking too. It is a futile attempt at best, but it really does have a noble intention.

:smokin: Please do away with this "smile"...smoking is not cool!

The worst is Fastpass, no matter what, there is ALWAYS a group of clueless people grouped up in front of the line, not understanding what to do...or waiting there until there time is ready! And i agree with the smoker thing-i always state very loudly... "Not a designated smoking area!!!"

I guess you never had to figure out how to do something for the first time. Hopefully they will start a program to weed out all those "clueless" people who would go to the parks and resorts without foreknowledge of all things Disney...

...Yeah, that is sarcasm! Do I have to tell you my pet peeve??

Smoking I can understand and agree with whole heartedly!! :thumbsup2

I like this thread as some of you probably have guessed by now. It is a good place to vent. How about at the buffet lines where people just stare at the eggs like they never seen them before. Please just put food on the plate and keep moving.

Why do you even spend money on admission if everything annoys you??? :furious:

Seems you could go to the local mall and enjoy yourself equally as well and have some money in your pocket too. :confused3

Just a question. :scratchin :thumbsup2

PEOPLE WHO FEED THE BIRDS! There is nothing cute about this and it's disgusting, have you NEVER seen a bird before? Some moron was doing this at the Mexican counterservice place last week. Then came all the birds...we were trying to eat..gross!

Yes, then the birds become more and more aggressive, and then people act shocked when a bird lands on the table and steals food right off the plate.
