Pet Lovers: Remember the Pet Calendar??

One last thing: the chickens are, in essence, rescues (or at least are descendants of a rescue). My parents'd never had chickens till one day, a hen picked up and left one of their neighbors and opted to set up shop in my parents' barn. We cleverly named her "Chicken," and she became part of the family. She came when she was called, just like a dog, running full-sprint from the barn down to the house. When I'd go out to the house to help my mom in the garden, Chicken would always be right at my side (or my mom's) waiting for us to hand-feed her any worms we came across while digging in the soil. She followed us around, just like a puppy. Eventually, my parents "borrowed" a neighbor's rooster for a bit so Chicken could have some babies, and ever since, there've been a couple dozen chickens roaming around the joint. Best eggs you've ever tasted, too; store-bought ones don't hold a candle to them.

OK!, I've enjoyed reading about your pets...horseback-riding chickens is hysterical! Must be fun to hang out at your family's houses!

Evilina - I'm LOVING the Stitch-looking puppy!! Is that his name? Too cute!!!

It's a zoo. Every time I housesit for my parents (which is fairly often, what with their being DVC members now and all), I always feel like I need a vacation afterward!

It's never boring, though, and there's something to be said for that. :)

I'm updating this thread one last time - I'm putting the last photos into the calendar, so anyone who missed out before - now's your chance to join in! :)

Here is Mabel...obviously, we didn't have her when you started this

If you would like to use the one I have in my siggie, you are more than welcome to it. That is Duke (golden retriever/husky mix) and George (Papillion.)

They are HUGE camera hogs, if you couldn't tell. :teeth:

I just emailed you over two pictures of our babies. This is a great project, can't wait to buy a few!

This is Bingo, who we got from a rescue organization the day they rescued him from a shelter. He is believed to be about 2 years old, and is a Jack Russell Terrier "mix" (the mix is most likely dacshund (sp?)). He was heartworm positive when rescued, and that is the most likely reason he was "abandoned" as he is the most loving and most well trained dog I have ever seen. He is now heartworm free, and the best pet in the world IMHO!

Cute pets!!! My guys want to play, too!

Here's Sambuca, our 14 year old Lab mix. Found her at the pound as a tiny little 5 pound furball when she was just 6 weeks old:
