Which are the pet loops?
And if our dog is comfortable in the RV and quiet, is it ok for him to stay in the RV while we're away?
What's the rules on this and are there any "better" pet loops (larger sites, more secluded.)

The designated pet loops are the full hook up 800, 1600, 1700, 1800, & 1900 loops or the 300 or 700 "preferred" loops. The 500 loop is an overflow preferred pet loop when additional pet sites are needed. Three "pet walk" areas include a canal pet walk off the 1800 loop, a canal pet walk off the 300 loop and a nice wooded walk behind the 700 & 800 loops. Should you need to take your pet anywhere else (like the kennel) you must drive them, you can NOT walk them outside the pet loops. While I have seen dogs being walked as far out of the loops as the Meadows pool area, I feel this just gives those of us who bring dogs a bad name.

Questions regarding "better" loops are usually a matter of personal taste. I tend to like the 1800 & 1900 loops because they are set back from the main road and are a little more secluded and quiet.

Yes, if they are quiet and don't disturb others you may leave them inside an RV. The only restrictions is that they can't be left tied outside and they can't be left unattended in anything that is canvas sided. This would include a tent, pop up camper of a hybrid with the bunk ends open. Now, with that said I have seen lots of dogs left in pop ups and hybrids and as long as they are quiet the FW staff tends to ignore it.

The thing I want you to keep in mind is that FW does have power failures at times. Should the power fail would your pet be comfortable?

For the safety of your pet and others, it is required that dogs be current on their required vaccinations which include:

* Rabies
* Parvovirus
* Distemper
* Hepatitis
* Parainfluenza
* Bordetella (kennel cough)

Many vets list some of these on their records as DHP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza) or DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus). While FW seldom checks your paperwork they reserve the right to do so and if you don't have it with you they can refuse to allow your pet in the campground.

It is nice to see someone that cares about his/her fellow campers, as evidenced by your question.

We just sat for an evening listening the to a dog a few campers over bark all evening. He was left alone in his outside pen while his owners went who knows where. They had been to the Everest opening that morning, so they were Disney people ... most likely could not get into FW like us.

I wonder what FW would have done in a situation like this.

BTW, you cannot 'drive' your pets outside your pet loop in your golf cart, at least we were stopped by a castmember when we tried this.

I missed that in my comments. Golf cart rules state no pets on the cart, even within a pet loop. If you have your own cart you are still required to abide by the cart rules.
