We were at AKP last month and a squirrel ran across the path in front of us while we were on the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail, and he was carrying a bag of chips!

We were curious as to what was going on so we stopped and observed that the squirrels were going over to the stroller parking area and checking out the strollers!

We got a good laugh out of watching them and imagined at some time someone in the family was getting blamed for not packing the snacks in the bag! LOL

So, just a heads up...Do not leave food items in your parked strollers!

That is so hilarious!! Thanks for the photos! We've never noticed our strollers getting robbed, but I have heard a lot on the DIS about Squirrel Street Gangs.

You're right - I bet there's some finger-pointing and complaining about who forgot to pack the goodies!

I would me even more concerned not with what the squirrels take, but what they leave behind in your bags, on your food containers etc. Feces, urine, anything else they have stepped on, little bugs, etc.

Great pics! We saw a squirrel in Epcot snag an unopened package of peanut butter crackers from a stroller. We have some great pics of him opening the package and having a good ol' time!

This is awesome haha!

I think I had more fun watching common animals like squirrels and ducks at AK than the tigers or bats lol.

Squirrels even do this when humans are around. Back when Off Kilter played, we sat in the row behind a guy with a backpack on the ground. A squirrel ran up to the backpack and started to sniff it right under the guy's feet. The squirrel would not back away at all. The guy became concerned and turned around to ask us what the thing was up to. My husband, being an animal lover, said "do you have nuts in your pack?" OK, there were comments made about that but the guy said he had bought a pack of peanuts earlier but was going to eat them later. My husband said that the squirrel probably wanted to join him. So, the guy opened up his pack, opened up the bag of nuts and held one out to the squirrel. The squirrel was quite happy and took the nut and jumped down on the ground. So the guy put a nut on his knee and the squirrel scampered up the guy's leg and had his feast there. The guy was amazed at how Disney squirrels were so "tame".

Great thread! Thanks for the images!

Eh, I'm betting the squirrel hands are cleaner than the critters in line all around us: bacteria/viruses from around the world, nose pickings, every railing/handle/toilet part they've touched all day, anything they might have picked off the bottom of their shoes, the diaper they just changed.

Oh, and let's not forget the little bugs they might have crawling around on their little heads, or in the luggage they bring on the plane we share.

I doubt the squirrels ever leave the park. Hard to imagine they bring much that isn't already there.

Likely part of the point of showing the squirrel in the stroller. :)

That was at the clown pool at Boardwalk. I did use the zoom, but he was on a lounger maybe 4 chairs away.

At Disneyland, as we were getting over leaving things in strollers, I saw them up in strollers gnawing on waterbottle lids. Decided that even water wouldn't be kept in the stroller anymore. I think there are very few people who want to put their mouth on something a squirrel has *licked*.

I went to Temple University here in Philadelphia and the first thing we were told as freshman was to beware of the squirrels! I routinely saw them run off with full 6-packs of peanut butter crackers, entire soft pretzels, you name it. One day I went to throw my trash out and one literally jumped at me and another girl from inside the lid! They were the most well-fed wild animals I've ever seen, and of course not afraid of humans. We were actually afraid of them and would back away from our tables slowly when they approached!

When in Disney last week we saw many brazen squirrels completely undeterred by humans or even the ducks right next to them. I don't have a stroller (yet) but will definitely remember these photos for future reference, and to remind me to take things with me!

Not just in the parks! On our last trip down we played the Magnolia golf course. I had just opened a bag of trail mix, as I'm hovering over my ball I hear a crinkle coming from the cart. Sure enough one of these buggers had grabbed my trail mix and was making off with it. My Dad thought this hilarious.

Wow. That's funny.

It is amazing to see how animals that live in close contact with humans have adapted.
