"Personally, I think I would make a great stripper!" 8/10 The End

Wow! That is scary! I'm glad he is ok. We recently had a local child die from an overdose and I made sure to have a lengthy talk with them about drugs. I will definitely use this for a separate chat!

Well that is certainly every parents nightmare!
I am glad to hear that no one was hurt. Although I am sure a lot of the kids will remember this day and think of it as they walk to their classes.
Hopefully they will bring in a counsellor.

I am so glad everyone is ok, and I also hope that the child gets the help he obviously needs. I do hope they bring in counselors for the children who were targeted. It is always something like this that reminds us that we always need to be prepared. I also agree that cell phones are mandatory at school. You just never know.

Oh my goodness! I'm so glad Baylor is alright! I remember when my high school had to go into lockdown because there was a man with a gun in the neighbourhood and actually went into a nearby student's house and shot 2 people! My school and the school around the corner was in lockdown most of the day. It was really scary to witness all of that happening.

OMG, how scary! I'm glad nobody was hurt! That is certainly one of my worst fears as a parent that something like that would happen at school. I just don't know what some kids (and adults too) are thinking when they do things like that. It's just awful.

:scared1: Seriously???? FIVE PAGES ALREADY???

I knew this would be good! Must sub.
ETA: All caught up.

OMG!! I just read about that lockdown online during lunch. Didn't know Baylor went to school over here. I'm in that same town for my work so I know where it is and all. Glad to hear they took the boy into custody and no one was hurt. So sad to see this stuff all the time. Going to hug my kids when I get home!!

I was all prepared to scold you for not getting an update done... and then I read the reason why! I'm so, so sorry you & your family, as well as all of the other families involved, have to deal with such a horrible experience right now. My first year teaching, our school went into lock-down because of an armed man in the vicinity, which was scary... a few years later, at a different school, we had an 8th grader fire shots outside the building right at dismissal time. Thankfully, no one was hurt in either incident, but I would never wish that kind of stress - on teachers, students, and their families - on anyone. Take all the time you need this week to help Baylor work through his emotions surrounding this event. We'll all be here waiting for you when you get back. :)

Wow, I didn't realize Baylor went to school there. I just heard about that on the news tonight! My in-laws are both teachers at the high school there, but my mother-in-law teaches at the middle school for one hour in the mornings...luckily, she was done at the middle school and over at the high school when this happened. Yikes! I'm glad that Baylor (and everyone) is okay.

Wow, that has sent chills up my spine... Thankfully he was out of the school at the time.. I also have cell phones for my kids however they seem to not always have them charged grrr..

Hi.

We are doing well. Lot's of talk and kids calling back and forth. I think they are all processing how very real this is.

The kid has a troubled past. Mom died in a fire when he was young - in and out of foster care etc. Had been in trouble at the school and was having his back pack searched daily as well as in anger management classes.

Tough for the kid as well as everyone else.

Anyway - better tomorrow and I will get the first chapter in then. I just am tired tonight. Emotionally just drained.

Thanks for the well wishes and concern for Baylor.

He is doing really well. I think the ones in the school when it happened are more in shock than him. Kids were posting facebook messages while in lockdown.

The times are a changing! :worship:

Hope you guys like food porn cause there is plenty on your way! :lmao:

Lurking and will be living through your report. Far too long until I get to go again. I am so glad Baylor was safe.

Glad that Baylor is ok and that you guys are dealing with it as best as you can. So right about going over emergency procedures again with our kids! You never think it can happen in your town, until it does.

Can't believe you're on page 5 before I even notice the TR was started. That's what I get for going out of town for Easter!

Take all the time you need to get your family taken care of. We'll be here. :goodvibes

I'm glad Baylor is safe and nobody got hurt. A few years ago a similar incident happened at my brother's high school (before he was a student there). We also had discussions about what to do, who to contact and what the priorities are. Unfortunately, these types of incidents are getting far too common and it's better to be prepared than to be caught off guard.

Your trip reports are my drug of choice after a long day at work and school. I'm so looking forward to your new one!

So sorry about Baylor's day. How scary for all of you. I know you are hugging those kids tight .....y'all have been through so much. :grouphug:

Just read the "pon" story :rotfl2: MY COW!!! (southern for WTH) That is just too much...but what a fantastic story...little did she know that she would live on in tampon-infamy!! And just love the visual of it swelling in the humidity:lmao: Great story telling!!

I heard this story today, so sorry it affected your family. Glad everyone is ok, my husband works at a school for high risk youth and you wouldn't believe the story's he comes home with everyday, probably part of the reason we haven't made the leap to parenthood yet:laughing: Excited for the new trip report!

Oh my God!! Thank God Baylor is okay. That is absolutely terrifying. Don't worry about the report, obviously.

When I was in school, my mother was constantly going over this stuff with me. I thought she was crazy and thought it would never happen at my school. Luckily I was right about my particular school, but to hear it happening to someone I know(ish) is so startling.

On a lighter note... I have to admit, I can't wait for the food porn!!!

Oh Dawn I'm so glad Baylor and everyone else are okay. That is a scary tale, I could never imagine being in that situation myself. :sad2:
Hugsssssssss to you all.
Take your time on getting back to us, we're going nowhere hun :goodvibes

Sarah

Dawn,
Glad everything is OK! This is so weird you should be telling us this. My DS who is a JR. this year just told us last week they had the FBI, local police ect.. at school and had a mock lock down of the school in case of an active shooter situation. He said it went on for more than 2 hours, some of the kids had to play victims, pretend there hurt ect...

My DH is a police officer and he has gone through this training. I think because of Columbine this is mandatory training nation wide for all local police. So if he is off duty somewhere and there is a situation such as this he would be able come and help.

Yikes so scary! Once again glad everything is ok!

Oh my goodness...just the thought of this brings tears to my eyes. I live in CO so unfortunately, school shootings is way too close to home for me.

Thinking about Columbine still makes me cry, even though I was pretty young then.

Then there was the guy who came onto school property at another local school and held students hostage and killed a girl, that was the school next to where my favorite teacher from the previous year had transferred.

Then just this past February there was that jerk who started open firing on middle schoolers right by where my friend lives.

It makes me cry. I was terrified of school shootings in high school. We had a threat once, someone had written "4/20 is going to be a bloody day at Chaparral" on the walls, which is the anniversary of Columbine and we were having a school assembly that day. Needless to say, half the school didn't go because we were so scared!! My heart goes out to Baylor.

Thanks for the reminder to teach our kids about this stuff. They really do need cell phones in case of stuff like that. Praise the good Lord that he was safe.

Oh my goodness. That is so scary. I am so glad that Baylor is alright.

Take as much time as you need to write the next update. It is always hard to process events like this one. You never actually think it will happen to you or a family member, but then when it does it's gotta be extremely shocking. I'm sending hugs for you and your family, as well as all of the other families affected by this.
