Personalized bricks at Polynesian

What about the certificate made you want to call and check on it? I would never have thought to do that if I had one. I would have assumed it was a done deal.

Reading the new posts this morning prompted me to call just to check. It's a good thing I did, huh? I'm about ready to cry!:sad2:

Interestingly, the CM said at first that he couldn't find my name "on the list" even though I gave him my brick number, and he said, "Oh, I don't see you here, maybe you DID go through." By the time we were done with our conversation, he looked up the number again (?) and said , "No, yours did NOT get sent and you do not have a brick." What burns me is that I got the certificates and a number and a darn map showing me where it would be!!!!!

Well, right now everyone is speculating.

I called and talked to Roger. They only thing they are allowed to say is "the program has been closed", and that everyone will be contacted by "Disney Correspondence and Communication" in a "timely manner", although that may be 2-3 weeks, but he said that everyone who has been charged "will be taken care of". I wouldn't try and read more into it right now until we start hearing from DC&C.

Roger was very disappointed in the matter - he was involved in the original program.

I think that the CM's are innocent and that the higher ups are the problems. I think the program will open back up but it will only be available on site or by mail. Maybe the people that mailed their applications in will actually be the only ones that get a brick.

Oh - I totally agree as Dean was nothing but helpful to me during this. I meant the angry letters/e-mails would be directed at the higher ups who may have screwed up the program and not let the CM's below them know what was going on.

Yeah I don't get how you could get a certificate but not have your order "sent out". I doubt this has anything to do with email or faxes as if that was the case they would have just told us they were going to mail us the forms and have us mail them back.

This is probably a simple case of they sold more than they had. The managers probably didn't expect 100 orders to come in during the span of a week so the CMs kept putting them through, then someone took a look and went OMG! We only had 20 spaces left, why did you process 100 orders?!?! or something like that.

I'm pretty ticked right now. I'm not going to wait 2-3 weeks for a call because if this goes through my billing cycle I'll have to pay for it or be hit with intrest charges. If I don't hear from them by Thursday night I'll be calling Friday to get the story. I'm sure they can expect a bunch of emails from me as well :rolleyes1

 Maybe they couldn't honor the 10 years. There might be future plans to remove all or some of the bricks. I was told that the EPCOT Leave a Legacy was/or is going to be closed down. :sad2:

Yes, this is a mystery to me. An actual number was assigned. The CM told me that numbers were "assigned immediately," however, it doesn't mean that the order went out. He said he sent HUNDREDS of certificates out. This is also interesting, as so far, I am the only one who has posted about receiving them.

I'm sure they can expect a bunch of emails from me as well :rolleyes1

I was told to write to www.guest.communciations@disneyworld.com.

The reason I think it DOES have something to do with LEGAL is this: When you send someone an email.....you can actually alter that email by forwarding it and deleting or adding stuff. That was a legal paper and I am sure it became null and void once it went out to people via the internet. You might be right that they only had so many to sell..but my gut is it has something with the emails. I think the CM's or whoever told them they could email the forms didn't check with the HIGER UPPERS TO MAKE SURE THIS WAS OKAY. I wouldn't be surprised if the people who got charged will in turn get a phone call or letter saying that YOU CAN STILL HAVE YOUR BRICK but you have to redo the paperwork or something with them sending out the paperwork and returning it via snail mail.

Maybe the legal eagles are trying to decide what to do. Maybe they will contact us and say if we mail them in we can get the brick.

Anyone who does any work with contracts knows that there is absolutely no difference legally between a snail-mailed signature and a faxed one. Both are legal and binding. When I first read about it, I wondered why some people were opting to mail their applications in on such a time sensitive project with a limited number of bricks. If it comes through, I'll be thrilled, if not, it's "wait 'til next time". It's not really a big deal if it doesn't go through for me personally, I just feel bad for all who were buying them for special occasions. Congrats to all who got a brick! ::MickeyMo

I, for one, appreciate you saying this. Life is full of disappointing moments, and this is one of, I'm sure, many more to come (I really am an optimist, don't let this statement fool you). It is just a brick. So now I'm the same person I was before 5/25, a Disney freak w/o a brick.

Now I'm off to find something else to do for DH.....

I agree that it doesn't matter how they are returned...but I think it does matter how THEY ARE SENT. Nothing is secure through emails. That paperwork we filled out is legal stuff.......so whose to say that Joe Bob gets the paperwork and emails it to 10 people who also want bricks, who email it to 10 people and so on...that legal docuement "could have" been altered along the way so that not all the people that got the email versions actually have the same version that someone got say.. at the Kiosk. That is where I think the mistake was made by whoever okay'd the forms to be sent via email didn't realize that.

I think you're reading far more into it than is necessary. Regardless of whether they've mailing it, emailed it, or hand delivered it to the customer, I guarentee that Disney legal reads every single one of the signed legal forms, faxed or otherwise, that crosses their desks to make sure that contracts are not altered. For the most part, that's the bulk of what they do. In the end, if it turns out that not everyone gets a brick, I think that it's a situation of Disney simply underestimating demand.

It was called the Application agreement....that is the paper that I am referring to. It is probably a combination of things but I do feel that had something to do with it. I am not going to get into a debate over this. It is over and done with. We are all disappointed but it is not the end of my DISNEY WORLD. LOL

I guess none of us will truly know if our brick is there or not until a few weeks go by and the masses start getting the correspondence from Disney legal. I'll be bummed if we didn't get ours-especially after getting the confirmation, but I guess life goes on. Like PP said, we'll just be like we were before-Disney freaks without a brick!

I just got off the phone with Dean and he was falling all over himself apologizing. I received my email from him and faxed my application all on May 25. He couldn't tell me anything other than the program is closed and Disney Correspondence will be handling the contacts. He said as far as my credit card being charged, that he thought I would receive some type of refund (and I hadn't even given him my name to look up whether it went through or not - this makes me think NONE of them went through), but that I needed to be patient because it could take weeks for Disney Correspondence to contact me. I'm bummed.

See the supply thing doesn't make sense to me.... One poster on here faxed her order on May 25th, and got her certificate(s) mailed to her yesterday. If she was one of the very first ones to fax an order on May 25th, then how could they have not had enough bricks even for HER?

And if somehow they sold all available bricks on, say, the morning of May 25th before that poster faxed hers, then that means every single order that was faxed after midday on May 25th will not get a brick. (Assuming it is a first come first served thing...)

And I don't believe that Dean, Denise and Roger would continue selling bricks all week knowing that there were only xx available in the first place. I'm sure they at least knew that there were enough for all the orders they were taking.

Something went wrong with this and/or someone messed up at Disney, it wasn't just a matter of supply and demand IMO. Although that may be what we're led to believe.

Not to beat a dead horse, but how did the number of bricks available go from 20K to approximately 70? :confused3
