Personalized bricks at Polynesian

And I don't believe that Dean, Denise and Roger would continue selling bricks all week knowing that there were only xx available in the first place. I'm sure they at least knew that there were enough for all the orders they were taking.

Something went wrong with this and/or someone messed up at Disney, it wasn't just a matter of supply and demand IMO. Although that may be what we're led to believe.

I think I'm still going to show up at the kiosk/stroller rental in August with my certificates and ask them where I can find my brick anyway (like the cover letter I received said I should). JK.

See the supply thing doesn't make sense to me.... One poster on here faxed her order on May 25th, and got her certificate(s) mailed to her yesterday. If she was one of the very first ones to fax an order on May 25th, then how could they have not had enough bricks even for HER?

And if somehow they sold all available bricks on, say, the morning of May 25th before that poster faxed hers, then that means every single order that was faxed after midday on May 25th will not get a brick. (Assuming it is a first come first served thing...)

Another thing to think about is that those faxing/mailing weren't the only people signing up & paying. There was a stand at MK (or at least it had be reported that there was a stand!!). So why would they have a physical stand at the park & then be allowed to email out the forms to people who called & asked & THEN process the charges?

Unless......this was ALL JUST A SCAM & the Disney people found out & are intercepting it for us & will credit back our accounts...in 2-4 weeks!! :lmao:

I called and got Dean on the phone 5 minutes ago. I was SO excited to read they were selling the bricks again. I had not read throught the whole thread yet:) He said the program was over. I will try to get some more info-I am sesonal at WDW and DH works in Marketing.

Nawww...I still don't think it was a scam. I called Disney Guest Services again earlier today to get the correct e-mail address for Disney Communications and the CM I spoke with there knew all about the kiosk and the "brief resurrection" of the program. She said she knew "there were a few bricks available" and was actually going to connect me to stroller rental before I told her I already spoke with them there.

If we all get certificates with the spots showing where our bricks WOULD have been, we can still have our DIS meet, stand on those spots and take the picture of what almost happened! (is it too early to laugh yet??)

I don't think there is any scamming here either.

I think the 3 CM's we've been dealing with were honestly doing what they thought was right and ok. And someone else at Disney messed up.

I also think that the powers that be could choose to make all of us who've had our accounts charged happy brick owners if they wanted to.

Disney? Scam? Well I never!!. There's no way the creators of the Magic Your Way park ticket and the $6.00 funnel cake would ever scam anyone!!! ;)

:rotfl:
Thanks, I needed that!

What's funny about that, tho, is that I would probably do it. :)

seriously, I don't think they would erect a stand if there were only less than 70 bricks to sell. It's just not cost effective.

This is very strange, IMO.

Anyone on site? Is the stand still there today?

Still, visiting my local Six Flags cured me of thinking Disney's prices were high. At Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL, a hot dog is $8.99, water is $3.50, a small soda is $2.99, and a funnel cake is $8.99.

I agree-we have Six Flags Great Adventure here and they gouge you just as bad as Disney-sometimes I think worse. But that's JMO.

Yes! ::yes:: We will have to start a Path Stone Support Group-kind of like a 12-step program to help you mourn, cope and move on with life-without your own brick. :rotfl:

I'm thinking someone "higher up" said "Look at the response for a $300 brick! We could probably charge even more and expand the walkway somewhere else and farther and make zillions!!!" Maybe? :confused3

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I am with you Liz on that one. :yay: IF the POWERS THAT BE.....ARE READING THIS....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET THE PEOPLE THAT WERE CHARGED...... GET THEIR BRICKS. LOL

What I find odd is that TheyCallMeTiggs actually received a location for her brick (not just a charge on her credit card, a promise from the CM's, etc.). So, what is standing in the spot of her supposed brick currently? If that brick is indeed an empty one, and not intended for another guest, then why wouldn't Disney be happy to take her $300 and give her the brick?

The way this has been handled is very odd, IMO. Not scam-odd, but very, very poor planning-odd. I feel very badly for those of you that had your CC charged, but now have no idea if you're in or out. It was all just a dream for me, but to think you had one, and now don't, has to be sad/frustrating.

From your lips to Mickey's ears...

Now I am worried that my mention of the popularity of this program and of the DIS during my last call with Dean may have messed up my chances for "keeping my brick." As I mentioned earlier, at first he said he could not find my name or number on "the list" (what this list was for, I don't know), and thought I was safe. Five minutes later, after we discussed how big the response was, how this was posted on several message boards, how people were ordering from overseas, etc., he asked for my brick number again and then said my order did not go through.

Maybe I'm just paranoid!:scared1:
Any way you look at it appears that I am brickless, so what does it matter?

I feel bad for those that tried to get bricks and are now not getting them.

I have one from 94 right in front of MK, left side and it is worn. Did anyone find out if they will replace an existing one for the 100.00? I can't get thru on the phone.

I also would like to replace DMiL 's since they area divorced now!

I think they should give us "sorry we screwed up walkway" and put all our bricks together in the Rose Garden in front of Cinderellas castle.

Or the "ya all got shanghi'd" in the POTC area!

It was a nice dream.

I know my cc was charged. I'm not real happy with the charge being on my card for interest for something I'm not getting.

It was the stroller place at MK that told me that the charges went through their registers when I wnated to double check if the program was legit. I wonder what really went wrong?

I understand that papers can easily be altered that are emailed, but couldn't Disney just look at them and see if were the ones they created?

I really wonder how many requests they did receive?

I could set you up with a brick including your name and Mickeys face, for a small fee. Then you wouldn't be "brickless.";)

Maybe my "phony" certificates with my brick inscription and number will be worth something some day, LOL. At this moment, tho, I am THOROUGHLY bummed. This was to be a surprise wedding anniversary gift for my DH. I was going to hold my tongue until the end of August, and walk him over to it on our actual anniversary date.

Now what will I get him???!!!!!!!:confused3

My anniversary is TODAY, and my DH is coming home right now, my "IOU" for this brick wrapped and ready to go :sad1: :sad2:

ETA: Sorry about the way that read. I'm not one of those story-toppers, I'm VERY sorry yours was for an occasion as well and it was ruined! I'm just so incredibly disappointed (as many of us are!) and REALLY don't know what to do about the anniversary gift in the next ten minutes. I was so excited about this one, too!
