My anniversary is TODAY, and my DH is coming home right now, my "IOU" for this brick wrapped and ready to go :sad1: :sad2:

ETA: Sorry about the way that read. I'm not one of those story-toppers, I'm VERY sorry yours was for an occasion as well and it was ruined! I'm just so incredibly disappointed (as many of us are!) and REALLY don't know what to do about the anniversary gift in the next ten minutes. I was so excited about this one, too!
Happy Anniversary, Jennifer and Kyle!~ Maybe you'll luck out and get one of the bricks.

I feel bad for those that tried to get bricks and are now not getting them.

I have one from 94 right in front of MK, left side and it is worn. Did anyone find out if they will replace an existing one for the 100.00? I can't get thru on the phone.

I also would like to replace DMiL 's since they area divorced now!

I was told i could update my brick..(5/29) my brick was bought in 97...Stipulation was you had to be the original owner (payer) and they could make the change or have it cleaned......i'll have to check to see if the credit card was charged...

Sorry for all those who are brickless....

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!

Sorry about the brick, and, please...I feel more for you in this situation as I have 2-1/2 months to think of something else.

:tinker: I hope you and your DH enjoy your evening!!!

I spoke with "Dean" around 11am today. He said the "Program is CLosed!" He was kind of rude at first. When I explained that I wasn't disputing the fact that I couldn'tget one, and I just wanted some details as to why, he calmed down a bit. He said he felt really bad he had to be this way because he really was "all about the guests." But he has been instructed to answer the phone and say the "program is closed and has been since 2000." He was not allowed to give meany more details than that.:sad2:

I think they should give us "sorry we screwed up walkway" and put all our bricks together in the Rose Garden in front of Cinderellas castle.

Or the "ya all got shanghi'd" in the POTC area!

Okay, either one would make me happy! :rotfl2:

So has anyone gotten a proper story from them on what's going on? I've been calling all day but no one has picked up the phone. I left another message but haven't heard back. I guess I'll try the email but who knows how long they'll take to get back to me.

BTW, in the email address someone posted, is the www supposed to be wdw?

Is there any other number to call besides the one on the application?
I talked to Dean also. He couldn't say anything. Couldn't even get a phone number out of him!

No one is going to get any additional information from the CMs. They aren't allowed to tell us anything. We will have to wait patiently until Disney Correspondence starts calling us, whenever that is - and I wouldn't be surprised if we get nothing from them either.

This could be a black eye PR wise.

I can't tell you how disappointed I am. I told DW (I though of keeping it a surprise, but she gets the Disney CC bill) but it was to be surprise for the DDs. This year is the 10th anniversary for SW and I first going to DW (our first trip together, and first trip to WDW for either of us - almost exactly 10 years when we go in July) AND our 10th wedding anniversary (in December). I don't know why we didn't get a brick back then.

The interest on the credit card doesn't bother me that much - I just want to know why.

So... supposedly the program re-closed on May 25 -- I only recieved my application on May 28! I'm really glad I didn't immediately fax in my application complete with CC number... but I am still totally bummed. I just don't understand how this happened. I was SO looking forward to visiting my brick on our September trip. :(

I think I will be sending an email to Disney Communications. This just isn't right.

Whether this was miscommunication on Disney's part or just a total screwup, the Disney Company always seems to come through in the end. Remember the 40% room discount fiasco a few months ago? No one was refused the offer!

I truley hope the CM's answering the phones don't take the fall for this. They were all so helpful and tried their best. I believe they wanted to see this happen more than we did. IMHO, I believe managment will make good for this issue as well.

I like your optimism. :goodvibes I hope one day we hear the real story. I feel bad for the people that wanted the bricks for their anniversary and didn't get one (although they still have a wonderful marriage:cloud9: ). I feel sorry for the rest of us that are "brickless." And I feel sorry for the CMs at the end on the phone number we have all been calling. I don't think it can be easy on them and what they are going through.

I'm with the anniversary crowd it was our 13th anniversary present to each other. :sad2:

Optimistic? Yes! I have been a believer in WDW and what it is all about for many years (25+ years for me). It is the main reason I contimue to vacation there twice a year and bring my children to experience the magic you can't get anywhere else. Believe me, I've traveled the world! There is no place like WDW!

If I am wrong, then so be it, but I still think they will make good for this issue. It may take time. Yes, I have a brick I purchased for my oldest daughter in 1998. The brick I just attempted to purchase would have been for my youngest daughter who wanted one so badly because her big sister has one. I don't have the heart to tell her she is not going to get one now. She was so excited and even helped with the paper work. Oh well, time will tell.

I've read a book on Disney's management principles called "Keys to the Kingdom" or something like that. And one thing they said was that after you have experienced Disney's customer service, you use them as the gauge for everyone else (like LLBEAN too). And I have to admit, when something from a company doesn't make sense or goes wrong, however it is handled I hear in the back of my mind "Disney wouldn't do it that way" or in rare occasions "That's what Disney would do." There is a comfort level dealing with a company like this.

I called and asked to speak to someone in the executive offices or a dept head because I was being told nothing . After being transferred around I talked to someone in Guest Relations that said the program was cancelled and the money will be refunded in 5-10 days.

I just sent an email to customer service. Thanks for posting the email addy. I am hoping that if enough of us voice our disappointment, perhaps they may honor our faxes. Probably not, but who knows.

The crux of my dissapointment comes at the fact that I got the form emailed to me on May 31, and they closed sales May 25? That is so wrong! Poor planning and/or miscommunication at its finest.

I guess we'll see what happens! I just hope I don't just get a form responce that says the program closed in 2000 and to do leave a legacy. that would really tick me off!!!

If only my parents had listened to the wisdom of their daughter many many years ago when she actually cried because they wouldn't buy her a brick - then I wouldn't be thinking about shelling out $300 for one now!!! ;) Hope things work out for all of you who applied for one this time around.
