Personalized bricks at Polynesian

I was emailed, just like they emailed me the 2 page application form. Same CM sent me the confirmation.

Ok, now my turn to worry! :rotfl: I never actually got the email from them, I sent it ones a DISer emailed me. I spoke with both Denise and Dino and they did receive my fax, my credit card has been charged, etc. But I got no original email, and no confirmation! Is it anything important, or that I should need to get a copy of for myself?

ETA: Still not worried this is a scam or anything, just hoping all goes well with the brick placement and that I don't need some sort of confirmation to make sure it's there, looks right, I can find it, etc!

I just wanted to let everyone know....I just spoke with guest services at (477) 824-2222 and they said the "brickyard" is closed and they are definitely not selling any new bricks and haven't for years. I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but I just contacted my credit card company and although the charge is not on my account yet, I told them to dispute it when it comes through. Hopefully, everyone who was promised a brick will get one, but I wanted to let you know what I was told. Maybe I was just overly cautious and jumped to cancelling, but that's just how I am.
Good Luck!

I also called 407-824-2222 and the CM who answered told me the same exact thing. However, when I explained that I was told that the CM at the OLD BRICK phone number (I got this OLD phone number from someone who had gotten a brick YEARS AGO) told me to call them and to inquire about the new bricks, she put me on hold for a while and then came back and gave me the 407-824-7890 that everyone has been calling. She even told me that she didn't realize they were selling bricks again and only found out when she put me on hold and asked other people (not sure exactly who she spoke to while I was on hold).

Anyway, this all does make sense to me, and I don't think it's a scam, I just think this is something that Disney is not widely advertising and not everyone at WDW is aware of.

Guest Services doesn't necessarily know that the "fill in" program is going on. After all, they aren't bothering to change the announce message at the phone number for the program.

1) A kiosk has been open (perhaps not continuously) outside the Magic Kingdom for the fill-in program; If it was fake, wouldn't Disney have squashed it by now?

2) Every e-mail I have received from Denise arrived at my mail server from a mail server on one of Disney's IP networks. There is a high degree of confidence in this.

3) The e-mails claim to originate from within Disney's internal network. There is a moderate amount of confidence in this information - it could easily be forged, but has not been done in a way that leads me to believe it was done. Everything looks correct. (And yes, I spend a fair amount of time analyzing spam)

4) I believe that the phone number has also been verified as belonging to Disney.

Has anyone figured out if "Dino" is Dean? Or a totally different CM who may be clueless?

If you plan to dispute the charges after you already filled out the paperwork, at least give the courtesy to the people running the program and ask to cancel. If its a scam, no further harm can be done. If its real, then you won't incur the wrath of Disney.

A scam isn't likely to have only credit card as a payment option anyways - too easy to dispute. They'd ask for checks that can be cashed easily.

I actually think that the fill-in program wasn't meant to be advertised, and Dean and Denise are probably getting very overwhelmed at the response.

Thanks Terry...I was just gathering phone numbers to do the same thing to see if the numbers would show up through WDW system. I was going to try and find the telephone number for the stoller rental since that seems to be the pace the charge is going through. I even goggled the address which ends up sort of behind the firehouse at MK.

I agree with what you said Terry. Plus if it was a scam wouldn't there be a spot for sending a check?

"Dino" is Dean. He answers the phone as "Dino," but his e-mails are sent under the name Dean. I spoke with him prior to him e-mailing my application and about 15 minutes after filling it out. He confirmed this. If Dino/Dean is the one now telling people that there are no longer bricks available, I would believe him and assume that all the spaces have been filled. I also know people that have actually seen the kiosk at MK. If this is a scam then I will be very surprised. I have NO plans to dispute the charge and risk losing the brick that I have waited 7 years for. Should this actually turn out to be a scam, we should all be covered by our credit card companies under their fraud protection.

Hi Everybody, I am newto the boards. I just wanted to start by saying I love all of the information that you have. Okay when I first read that they were selling the bricks again I almost fell out of my chair with excitement. I have called to see if I could get sent an application but have not had any response, maybe due to the weekend.:woohoo: I was hoping if somebody could send it to a new person I would be forever in your debt. I want one so badly that $295 actually sounds resonable to me. A perfect anniversary present.
My email hersho4@verizon.net

I left my phone number and e-mail address yesterday, and got e-mailed the paperwork this morning! Even the paperwork says the program stopped in July 2000, which seems strange - why would they put that on the paperwork itself? But it has the new prices.

Maybe it's a disgruntled employee who is getting ready to leave the company? He came up with a idea to sell make believe bricks for $295.00 to sweeten his retirement. :rotfl2:

I am not saying that it is definitely a scam, I was just relaying the information I was given. I am much of a scaredy cat to just wait and see *(although I know my cc company would take care of it). I am hoping everyone who applied gets their bricks. I will be sad when I go in August and don't have one, but that's what happens when you don't want to take a chance. Again, good luck on your bricks! Maybe the kiosk will still be there in August and I can convince my DH to get one then. BTW, I am going to advise Disney by faxing them a notice of cancellation. I would never just do it and not tell them.

I'm definitely not cancelling, and was wondering, has anyone other than D&D Duck cancelled their purchase for fear of a scam?

Just a reminder that you all should be contacting Disney for this information. Then you will know who you are dealing with.

DIS members are very helpful but when you are dealing with money I would be extra careful. If something seems strange I would talk with someone else at Disney to confirm it.

If you read the first two pages of this thread it has mssgs from people who stopped by the kiosk inside the MK and picked up the paperwork. The Address is 4720 Caribbean Way, Lake Buena Vista, FL that is the Road that runs from the backstage area near frontierland thru the adventureland area to behind Main St.

The charge is pending on my Credit Card. I'm excited!

I know Seaspray from cruising together last AUG. so I feel more comfortable with not canceling due to the information that she received.
I will feel a 100% better when I see the brick in the ground.:goodvibes

Well, I looked at all the facts on here before I bought my brick:

- Someone actually saw a kiosk and picked up forms from there
- The IP addresses and emails are from a verified Disney source
- The mailing address is verified as being Disney
- The phone number is verified as being Disney
- The credit card charge comes through from a Disney source

It just seems like this would be way too much trouble for someone to fake.

$5,900,000.00 for selling bricks. Doesn't seem like too much trouble to me! :woohoo:

I *should* be one of the first DISers to get the certificate and pic, so I will post about it as soon as it arrives.:)

I called the number and spoke with Dean on Friday. He gave me my brick number, location, and what the brick says just by my last name.
That was enough for me to think that this is legit.
