Personal space

I sit at a cubicle. Now I am in a small office space and am the only cubicle here. There is plenty of room to walk around, etc. While my desk top space is pretty roomy......the area for my chair is 3 ft X 3 ft X 3 ft with the opening.

There is a counter on the front side of cubicle that holds an appointment book, etc. and people can stop there and chat, fill out paperwork, etc. Doesn't bother me.

But hey, my 3X3X3 space is MY SPACE. Why do people need to step into my cube? If you need something I will gladly hand it to you.

There is one particular chaplin that for some reason thinks it's necessary to stand in my cube to speak to me. What is even worse is he spits when he speaks.....

Maybe I need to get a baby gate for the back of the cubicle.

You are always having trouble with those chaplains aren't you??? Maybe eat your favorite stinky food for lunch and make sure some remains stay in your trash can for the day.

I feel your pain, though. I used to be in a cubicle and people would walk into mine to talk over the wall to the person in the NEXT cubicle. I couldn't believe it! I have now been "promoted" to a window and 3 full walls. Still don't have a door and a 4th wall, but I'm getting there.

It's not that I'm that interesting to talk too. Me thinks that they have a particular amount of minutes they are supposed to spend at each location and seeing as how this is a production based business most of the employees on the line don't have time to chat........that leaves me to talk to in order to fill their alloted time.

Other employees do it as well......one thinks he has to step into my cubicle to hand me paperwork......while he walks around the counter in the front and could just hand it over the counter.......not your role model for soap and water either (that rules out the "leaving something stinky in the trash" option as it wouldn't smell any worse than 50% of the people here in the first place). This particular employee also finds it necessary to try and talk to me while I am clearly on the phone giving directions or making appointments........"hello..." They wear freezer suits and I swear that some of them have NEVER taken them home to wash them, they could walk by themselves.

Make like Less Nessman from the show WKRP in Cinncinati and create a masking tape barrier around your desk. When the Chaplain comes to talk with you insist that he knock first on the invisible door to your cube.

Your personal space won't be invaded and the Chaplain will probably avoid you going forward. Problem sovled.
