My 12 year old remembers the misty mates we used to have and asked if we could bring misters again as we are going during HELL HOT time. So the ? what are the go to misters these days? The misty mates are not getting great reviews anymore. Any better ones out there? Or how do you keep cool?

Frogg Toggs from Amazon. They are even on prime less than 10. I personally like the misting fan better. The frogg gets too warm on me quickly. Great for about 10 minutes, then nothing - gotta wet it down again. We get the free ice water and put it in the misting fan. So much better!

About 12 years ago, we bought one of the misting fans they sell in the parks, and we are still using it! We used it on our trip two weeks ago. Definitely money well spent!

Got DS a mist n sip bottle from CVS trying to kill to birds with one stone.
I really want to get one of these! I saw someone with one the other day that got her's from Big 5.

We have one of the misting fans we bought in the park years ago. We get ice from the ice machine at the hotel and put it in the mister so the water stays colder longer. You have to kind of crush the ice a little bit to get it in the bottle, though.

I caved on our final full day and bought a fan. I wish I'd done it sooner. Will be taking it back next time... I like @MinnieLovesMickey idea of putting ice in the bottle. Great idea! I'll try that next time.

Frog Toggs are great when you try them out indoors. However, we found that out in the Florida heat, they warmed up quickly. Rewetting them in restrooms didn't help much because the water from the faucet was never very cold. I bought enough for everyone, but only DH ended up using his most days. Now I use them at home when someone has a fever. DS16 always wants one on the back of his neck when he's sick.

We don't like carrying around the big mister fans (we're high maintenance!). I got each person a personal mister fan that they could clip on their belt loops. It felt the hottest when we were standing in an outdoor line. It wasn't as bad when we were walking around. But as soon as we stopped, ugh! I found it best to aim a non-misting fan at my neck. My boys preferred it on their faces. We saw several people walking around with wet wash cloths or hand towels on their necks or heads. My sister and I bought a few magic towels (the kind that come packaged small and open up to full-sized wash cloths when you get them wet). We kept them in ziplocks in our bags. We kept rewetting them and putting ice cubes in the bags. If you run one of those over your face and neck and immediately hit it with a fan, instant cool (for a few seconds, but that's better than nothing!).

I wish I could find our old misters. This house is like a black hole!
The towels seem like they would annoy me pretty quickly. Normally, we take breaks hit some indoor rides during the hottest parts of the day. But I have that one child that hates the heat(1 out of 4 not bad)

Personally, I find that when it's hot and humid in Florida -- and when is it not? -- a personal mister only makes me wetter.

It's roughly equivalent to standing out in a Florida rain shower in August.

I Broke down and bought one of the misting fans in the parks. Best $20 I ever spent! Batteries don't last long (needed new ones by the 2nd day) but I imagine they aren't the best batteries to start out with.

personal fan misters are a wast of time. Try drinking the water instead of spraying it on your face etc., use sun block, a hat see a show in the AC. We always go in the summer and have no issues. Cooling towels seem to help from what I read but I haven't tried them personally

frog togs, misters, light colored clothes, light airy clothes, and drink tons of water. Another secret, although this is rather gross(sorry), is to build up a good sweat then go into airconditioning (like in a store) for a while until the sweat freezes, then go back out. The frozen sweat will help keep you cool.
