Personal attacks on me from other posters

I know you're pointing a finger at me for "personally attacking you", but I WAS NOT ATTACKING YOU....ever since you originally came onto the DIS you've been asking strange and bizarre questions. A lot of people have noticed this. I'm thinking that you're just a regular DISer in disguise.

I'm sorry if you thought I was "attacking you", but I wasn't. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions on here, and if you post something, you're going to get insight if you like it or not. If you don't like someone's response, skip it.

But with all due respect, you didn't call him/her the "King of strange/bizarre questions". You said "King of stupid questions". Perhaps you had different intentions, but the wording you used, IMO, was on the harsh side.

Planogirl...I think you might be right....being in a state of constant confusion may be a "good thing":teeth:

I thought it was a very interesting tidbit of info - people lying on their resumes - and was a little surprised by the negative responses myself..

And I still wouldn't lie.. I'm SUCH a chicken!!!!!!!

I'll preface this with...this is not an attack..
When you post on a message board your going to get just that...messages...some you like some you don't ...that is the chance you take...You've only posted what 40 sometimes and you're already offended?...Yikes!
Whether someone thinks your questions are stupid or wonderful is a matter of opinion Right?....

If you want to play the game you might want to put on a thicker suit!

And usually people who are "newbies" on a board come to the board for the topic...which is Disney...here you come with all of these ???? regarding nothing Disney at all....HUmmmmmmmmm

Just an observation!

I never knew that my questions had to be about Disney. I thought this board was for people that liked Disney but liked to talk about a variety of interesting things. That is me.

They don't. Since most people initially come here looking for advice or answers to Disney related questions, or to plan a trip, it just raises suspicions when someone jumps right in with a potentially controversial topic. The DIS, like every message board, has had it's share of trolls in the past. It kind of makes some members a bit wary.

Edited to add... also there have been cases of members using an alias to post controversial topics, because they don't want people to know who they are. Doing that is considered to be a breach of message board etiquitte on most boards.

Holycow i thought this was a Community Board -- i mean have you seen some of the things posted here ( A Disney question - Yeah right )

jj.......

I saw your post yesterday and while interesting I didn't respond because I find it disconcerting that you won't indicate whether Mary or Bruce is posting. It is also a little odd that you rarely ever come back to a thread you started and post again. These issues may seem trival to you but it's not me and apparently many others.

I don't know what was said on your post yesterday that upset you but I know I've responded to posts using words that may not have been the best choice. Just yesterday I responded to a post and told someone I thought they were being irresponsible. With hindsight , I realized it wasn't the best choice of words and I'm going to have to find the thread and apologize.

My advise to you would to indicate which of you is posting and maybe to start a fluff thread.

::yes::

I have always thought that posters who have to resort to personal attacks have issues:
1. They have nothing intelligent to add to the conversation, but they "have a right to be heard"
2. They have low self-esteem issues, and personally attcking someone on an internet message board is a lot safer than doing it in person!
3. They have an underlying nastiness to their personality.

In any event, I generally consider the source when the attacks get personal and ignore them.

My suggestion would be to word your posts differently. Perhaps you could have said that you have a friend who did this, what do people think or has anyone known anyone who lied on their resume and what happened. Then you wouldn't get any personal attacks but instead some interesting stories and suggestions.

They don't. But not a single post about a on or daughter with a question in school? Or a thought about your workday? Or complaining about the inlaws? Or question about a city you may visit?

It's just strange that theres no other 'chatter' you have posted other than possible controversial topics.

Welcome to the DIS!

You also have to look at the subject matter that you are posting. You were asking people whether or not they lied on a resume. Couldn't some people consider this offensive? Especially good, honest people?

You also posted a question about whether or not people used work time to play on the internet, etc? Or something like that I can't remember the exact words.

If your questions are a bit invasive, then you should be prepared for some negative responses.

Aren't YOU taking the internet a bit too seriously?;)

I agree.

Most people happen upon the DIS while researching a trip to WDW. Most posters tend to start out on the Resorts Board, Restaurant Board, Theme Park and Attraction Board, etc.

You on the other hand jumped right into the Community Board. In doing a search on your user name, you've only posted here on the CB and on the Debate Board. Now certainly, there aren't any rules or regulations as to where one can post, however it does tend to make one suspicious of your intentions.

One thread was about staying at your wife's relative's house with a multitude of people, then another thread was about your husband reading women's magazines.I believe I was the one who pointed that out.

It would be nice to know who we are posting with, Bruce or Mary.

Yeah...and welcome to the DIS!

I have had some negative comments to some of my threads that could be construed as personal attacks, but who cares?

I posted what I posted and let the games begin. People should be entitled to reply to posts as they see fit as long as vulgarity or profanity isn't used.

In my opinion, if you don't want to get flamed or "attacked" for your views, don't post them.
