Perks for going on the tour

I'm hoping someone can answer this question for me that has been on a DVC tour fairly recently. Last August when we were on our honeymoon, a guest at AKL came up to us and gave up a fast pass card that said DVC on it, they said they were getting ready to check out and couldn't use it, so they gave it to us so we could use it. I read the back and it said it was good for 3 fast passes, kind of like the birthday fast passes they have now, where you can get a fast pass and ride right away. I'm assuming that night when we used it there was a glitch with the fast passes because this is what we ended up with

Obviously that's more than 3 fast passes. We ended up handing most of them out because we didn't want to ride that many times. Since we're going back at the end of the month with my family, DH is trying to talk my parents who plan to buy DVC in the next year or so to go on the tour during this trip so we can get one of the cards again. They don't want to go on the tour until they are ready to buy since they know it will be high pressure. DH is convinced that these cards are good for fast passes whenever you want, please someone tell me that isn't true, so he won't ruin his trip thinking he could have one of these cards... I know what the card said, but DH is convinced that it was wrong.

I did the tour and got the FP. They are good for only 3 FP each. I had several of them and wasn't sure if I had used all 3 so I put the card in the FP machine a 4th time. I got a printout that said I could not get another FP.

You can go to a kiosk located in all the hotels and parks and ask what the perks are to make sure they are still giving them out. This is how we found out about it.

Also I was staying at the CR and got the tour (without seeing the rooms) there so it took less than an hour and they gave me 6 cards, one for each person I was travelling with. Well worth the time just for the cards.

Also, my tour was low keyed and not hugh pressured at all. My guide does call and email from time to time to follow up but I do not mind as I am seriously considering DVC and like the info in the emails.

As a previous poster noted, the tour/sales should NOT be a typical high pressure timeshare presentation. Usually very low key.

If my parents did this tour on our first day, do they sign up like they do for the other tours, then get picked up in the DVC van, or do they just go to CR? Also, there are 7 adults in our party, will they give them that many fast passes? This might be something they'd like to do if it's not high pressure. They'd love to buy into BLT next year, so they might be interested in going for an hour to get more info...

I'd allow maybe 2 hours for the full info tour, (and ice cream) but they can make it short, if they wish. As far as the number of fast passes, I don;t know if they'll accommodate that large of a group, but be sure the guide knows how many are in their traveling party.

Definitely sign up for the tour and they'll pick you up in the van... don't go to the CR, as the models are at the sales center at SSR. We took the tour twice and both times was extremely low to no pressure. Both times it was about 90 minutes long. The van will pick you up from any park or resort, and at the end will take you back to anywhere you'd like to go. You can arrange the tour from any park DVC kiosk (at least 3 in each park), any resort kiosk (every front desk has one), any DTD kiosk (there are at least 3 of them) - they seem to be everywhere throughout "the world". Hope it works out for you all.

DVC sells itself and the tour is very low keyed. We've done the tour twice and bought through Disney once - the other two are resale one of which we bought this morning!

CONGRATS,, on your reslae purchase!!!!!

Very low key and there are no guarantees for any perks on a tour, but most recently the perks that have been reported are a Fast Pass card good for 3 Fast Passes each and valid for 3 days.

We're staying at SSR, are there a variety of times available for tours? Could we choose an afternoon time and go on our break from the parks? Is it a tour with a guide and just us, or would it be a group of people there?

we just got back. I spent a lot of time talking to one of the park based reps, but didn't have time to go on the tour, No pressure, just a friendly person willing to share information.
The passes are good for 3 fastpasses, but only one pass per person who is present for the tour...

good luck!

You may schedule a tour anytime during the day, I think the sales office closes like 5:30 or 6:00. Your afternoon break would be fine.

I did tons of research before, asked questions of a phone guide for about 1 week before my physical tour..She agreed with me that we didn't want to spend valuable vacation time going over things I already knew so she put in the "notes" that we just wanted a very quick physical tour of the layout AKV...Incredible..they stuck to their word..I'm actually glad I found a knowledgeable phone guide..the tour guide really had some vague answers to our questions and was too "slick" for me...:confused:

We received fastpasses too!Record time and fastpasses for everyone in our party! We timed the tour to use the fastpasses within 3 days of our tour...I suggest to anyone considering a tour to do alot of research before to "cut to the chase" and avoid wasting valuable vacation time!

Van that was scheduled to pick us up was waiting at our property on time!
What a breeze!:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

This may be the official policy, but there was only 2 of us at the presentation (and in our party) and we each received 2 fast pass cards for 3 uses each.

Right, I guess I didn't explain well enough:
1 pass/3 fastpasses per person on the tour,
2 people = 2 passes with 3 fastpasses each
