Hi All,
Just wondered if anyone else mangaed to see the programme on BBC 1 tonight - Perfect Holiday. They were in WDW!!

A single dad = his wife died a couple of years ago, was nominated for the perfect holiday by his dad. The girls were 4 and 6.

It was a really excellent programme - they got to be grand Marshalls at the Share a Dream parade, and did the dolphin swim at Discovery Cove, then headed to St Petes for a week!!

I couldn't believe how empty the parks were though!

Cath :D

Didn't know about this - I hope that their holiday brought them happiness, it sounds wonderful.

I thought it was on on Wednesday?? It was last week!
Claire ;)

I watched it too...the only thing i didnt like was they filmed it all out sequence..ie kids in Mk talking about the loin king then cut to them all in AK watching FOTLK. gives the idea that its all too easy to get too.

Loved the sunshine though....shut your eyes and your there.

:smooth:

:p

Maybe the scheduling is different for BBC Scotland - I've just checked Sky Digital - and it IS on BBC 1 everywhere except Scotland and NI - on Wednesday at 7pm - so don't miss it!!!!

Galaxy - yes I noticed too, they had some things out of sequence!! I still enjoyed it though - found it quite touching at times, and had to wipe away a tear!

I've just watched this :)

I thought they did a good job of showing some of the 'tips and tricks' that don't always get an airing on holiday programmes (such as Extra Magic Hour, Princess breakfast in 'Norway', etc.). What a lovely family, too!

It made me feel very humble that we've been lucky enough to enjoy a similar kind of holiday a number of times ........

..... I caught the last 15 minutes of this and was pleased I did! It was a real heartwarmer :)

When were they in the park? How come they're never empty when I'm there?

I also watched it.
They was a lovely family and they deserved the holiday.
I cried at most of the parts especially at the end when they said "I love you daddy" they've been through such a hard time.
It was nice to share such a special holiday!

I missed this (didn't see the thread until now :() but apparently the programme is repeated again next Wednesday at 2.40am if anyone wants to set the video. I think it's a signed version with an interpreter appearing in the corner of the screen.

Steph, I didn't see the beginning so someone may be able to answer you better than me, but it looked to me like they went in a quiet season, also Typhoon Lagoon was overcast when they were there (and I've been to TL in cloudy weather and it was very quiet except for some other Brits!!), also they seemed to film them at the table at Restaurant Akershus before anyone else was there, and then cut to a shot when the restaurant was full. I also noticed the ground was wet in lot of shots so they had either been taken at park opening when the ground has just been washed or after rain.

Beth I also shed a tear or two - I don't know why the wife and mother died so young, but this week I went to the funeral of a friend who died of cancer age 39 and so it was especially poignant.

I wondered what she had died of, But he did say she lay in bed saying she would never see them start school? so maybe it was Cancer? I dont know but its tragic.
Its awful when people die so young, My partners friend has just died, Massive Heart-Attack aged 40.
Life is so unpredictable. Suppose like they say Live for the moment.

It was heart rendering, they was a "special" family. And the children was beautiful! :(

P,s Sending my deepest sympathys....:(

DH taped this for me and I got to watch it last night, I had a lump in my throat when the kids were shown enjoying them selves so much at the festival of the Lion King, the Dad must have been so proud of them.

Brilliant programme though, made me see how klucky I am to have been there so many times.
