Baptisia-Also called wild indigo. This plant grows to a bush in the spring and the foliage has a sweet pea look, with light purple lupin like flower. It grows to heights of 24-40 inches and like sun. It prefers a little chalky, moist in the summer soil.

Some people plant Baptisia in the middle of their lawn. It forms a nice bushy plant in the spring and adds color to a grassy patch or grow it in the midde of any perennial bed.

In the mid-summer you should strip the foliage to encourage new growth and to avoid the formation of seeds.
