Percentage of SSR sold?

Does anyone know what percentage SSR is sold? Do you think this new offer will speed things up? Looking VERY forward to hearing some definitive plans on the next DVC resort!

The most recent information I have is that "about" three of the first buildings are sold out. There are now 5 buildings open with one more opening each month thru this October. Another six buildings are planned for opening in 2007- bringing the eventual total to 18. I think SSR will be selling for some time to come.

While this promotion may boost sales a little, it will not be sold out for some time to come. I don't expect SSR to sell out for at least a couple more years (and that would still be a good accomplishment).

OKW took about six years to sell out it's original buildings and about a year more for the three newest buildings. From 1991 until 1995, it was the only resort being sold. Beginning in 1995, VB began sales, followed by HH and BWV in 1996.

OKW and BWV both sold out (except the newest BWV villas from the sales center) in fall of 1999 - just prior to VWL opening and beginning sales.

As for the next DVC resort - stay tuned (but I don't expect any official announcement for some time). :)

Doc,

Is that three of the Phase Two buildings (for a total of about 7 buildings)?

It doesn't make much sense that they would have sold only three buildings total in the resort. For six months now they've only been selling Phase Two to new members. It doesn't make sense to me that they would have stopped selling Phase One points so long ago if they still had so many in inventory.

I was told in January that "about" three buildings are sold out. While they are certainly selling more buidlings, there are some Use Years still available in some of the first four buildings.

In the almost 2 months since our last visit, there have definitely been more sales, so that "about" 3 buildings may well be higher at this point in time.

SSR sales have definitely been going well and I know that DVC is pleased with the sales at this point in time.

I don't expect anything but rumors about future resorts until SSR sales are closer to being completed unless DVD has a change in position about the additional six Phase 3 buildings. If the resort should go back to it's original 12 building plan, I'd look for another resort to begin construction within the next 2 years. This is entirely speculation on my part- YMMV! :smooth:

Stay tuned!

We just purchased into SSR last Friday. We received the pre-construction discount, and as our building or phase (Phase II) will not be complete until October, our use year and dues do not start until then.

Although I don't remember our rep specifically stating that Phase I was completely sold out, I don't know why they wouldn't have sold us into Phase I if it was still available.

Regarding the next resort, the rumor I heard (and keep in mind it may be just that...a rumor) is that the next DVC resort may not even be in Orlando. A new resort at Disneyland in California seems to be a strong possibility as does a resort located in a non-Disney location (Hawaii???...much like Vero Beach or Hilton Head).

We went back and forth about buying at SSR, because we are big Poly fans. Our guide told us that if we wanted to wait, a new resort is going to be built in about two years on the monorail. I know this rumor has been floating around for a while, but he sounded pretty certain about his info. That also fits in with Doc's 2 year estimate.

But, we couldn't wait. Got the letter from Disney yesterday saying our financing was approved!

OK, now I know this can't be right. I went back and found Al Weiss' press release from last May's Member Homecoming which states:

"The newest resort in the Walt Disney Company's highly rated vacation ownership program, Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa opened with its first phase already three-quarters sold out, said Walt Disney World Resort President Al Weiss."

Assuming that information is correct, three of the first four buildings in Congress Park were sold out by May '04. By September, DVC was exclusively selling Phase 2 add-ons to new members, although they did hold back some Phase One points for current members to add-on.

So, if there's any validity to the "about three buildings" info that Doc got, it sounds like that would be three of the buildings in Phase Two, in addition to the four Phase One buildings that are effectively sold-out.

Is there a map somewhere showing what is open and what is not open yet?

does each building have a certain amount points per use year? You could technically have 3/4's of phases sold out and actually no buildings completelly sold out.
For that matter you could have 99% sold out and no buildings completed sold out.

or do they completely sell out one building before moving to another? I am trying to grasp how they handle it, because going from # of buildings sold out may not paint an accurate picture as to how far along sales actually are

My Dh & I just bought into SSR!!! :) :flower: :teeth: :goodvibes
Can't wait to go. Our points begin Aug. 2005. And have 49 more years in DVC. I am not sure what phase we bought into?

We were sent a map of future building for SSR. It looks like it is going tobe HUGE! And very spread apart...lots of walking.

Congratulations & Welcome Home, Neighbor!

I can also attest to Doc's comment about sales being brisk. When I stopped in to see what I had "bought" over President's week, there were more people interested in getting DVC information than they had guides available to talk to people. There were three people waiting in addition to us and when we finally took our abbreviated tour, there were three more new parties coming in. I did have a nice conversation with a lady from Long Island who was just looking for the first time. I think I had her convinced before she even met a guide! Hmm--I wonder if I should have asked for commission! :earsboy:
