We are planning a trip in Sept, so have been on the boards a few times. What is up with people being so mean! I know you can have your own opinion, but don't cut down the OP. I am almost scared to ask questions on here any more.These boards have changed a lot since I first joined. People come here to get information, not to be bullied. I guess it all comes down to the old saying, "if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all." BE NICE PEOPLE!!!!!

I agree, I doubt that it will change though. I don't dare ask questions now, if you do, people yell at you for not noticing the "sticky", or accuse you of having an underlying reason for asking. Sorry sometimes I just need to ask a quick question and don't want to spend hours going through the previous posts or "sticky". I have found that over on the universal board people are much nicer and willing to help. I have asked some dumb questions and have yet to be ridiculed or yelled at. Maybe some people need to go over there to learn some manners.

I agree. You have to have thick skin to be on the DIS boards these days. It's sad.

As an admittedly mean, ornery person with a nasty disposition....you are making me uncomfortable by trying to force your niceness on me. You are being mean by demanding I be nice.


Seriously, well said. It seems that FP+ has cast a dark cloud over many people, I guess. Relax, folks!

Yes!! When I first joined I was berated over not reading the darn stickies!! I want to ask a FP + question but I'm too afraid. I keep trying to search for my answer through various threads so I don't get any feathers ruffled but I still haven't found anything yet

I'm glad you posted this! I have been wondering what the heck has been going on over here!! Its awful that people seem to just hang around these boards waiting to one up each other, prove each other wrong, judge etc. WDW is my happy place and I would think that the people on these boards would be, well, kind to one another. I LOVE planning our Disney trips and it used to be fun coming here and asking questions and joining in on the excitement. Do you think the people who are ruining this place KNOW they're doing it??

Ask your question. Do NOT be afraid! What's the worst that can happen? Several miserable people get their panties in a bunch and gain a perverted sense of satisfaction by belittling your inquiry. Miserable people, but anonymous and harmless. All bark, no bite.

There are still plenty of normal folks here who can converse nicely.

I'm happy to answer any questions you might have, ask away! I may not have all the answers but I'm always glad to share what Disney knowledge I do have with others.

There does seem to be a cranky gang mentality of late. I attribute it to the long horrid winter, and springs a'comin' folks, so just hang on!

Who cares if people wanna be mean? Ask your question, someone with a sense of decency will answer it and for those that wanna berate and cut you down about what you ask, ignore em. In my opinion if people would just quit responding to the negative posts they would die down. Some people just thrive on being negative and making others negative as much as possible.

I've certainly read the occasional snarky retort on these boards; however, this isn't the only internet chat forum I read. I think people, In general, are less concerned with the tone of their writing and hide behind the anonymity of the net. Unfortunately, the DIS isn't immune to this. It's truly a sad evolution in how we communicate with each other.

I agree! So much easier to be kind or just don't post at all.

There are so many knowledgable people who want to help on these boards but the nasty, judgemental ones drown out the good.

Ask your question. If someone snarks, ignore them. If someone gets mean or abussive, report the post.

The board has moderators but they volunteer their time and can not be on top of all the threads. I think we need to start reporting posts that cross the line and help the mods.

But there are no FP+ sticky threads. Because it keeps changing.


People have been saying that it used to be nice and now it's so bad since at least the time I first came across the board (and I came across it around 2 years before I joined). Nothing changes apart from the subjects of conversation. Seriously. This is nothing new.


Honestly I've found the FP+ info on the WDW site to be fairly decent. Other than that you just go through your MDE and do what it allows you to do. If you error out, try again. If it still errors, clear cookies cache and history and try. If it still has a problem try tomorrow.

And when you get to the parks, maybe you'll like it and maybe you won't. I don't. At all. It makes me sad.

But it doesn't really seem to be *complicated*, apart from the changes constantly happening.

And again, taht's why there's no sticky, which is why no one can tell you to check the sticky. In this case.

But I do find a google search including things like "FP disboards" and whatever one word that describes what you're looking for tends to be fairly successful....

I totally agree. Message boards have some rude and arrogant posters. I joined a cruise board last year and finally just stopped following it due to how rude people were. I haven't had anyone personally do me this way but it's hard not to want to respond in kind to other people who have. I have to keep telling myself two wrongs don't make a right! Maybe we can make a pact to just say something nice to someone who has been treated poorly on here!
