Hi guys,

Me and my friend are working on a riddle book. There are some clues which I think may be Bible references but I have no knowledge of it so I'm not sure how to look them up. Any help in figuring out what these could be woule be hugely appreciated!!!

LK 3:1:11
LS 35:8:36
MT 22:17:14
MK 12:14:45
MT 23:17:2
JN 19:15:24

I thought LK could be Luke, MT = Matthew, MK = Mark, JN = John but am totally stumped by LS

Looks like they are asking for chapter 35. Lamentations only has 5 chapters. Leviticus has 27, and besides Luke, those are the only books starting with L in the Bible. (Don't be impressed - I looked!)

I hope your riddle book has the answers in the back!

LS = Leviticus ? Book of the Bible in the Old Testament

Oops, just read the poster above me, double checked and yep, Leviticus only has 27 chapters.

This is a long short, but could LS refer to Acts, the Second book written by Luke.

Edited to add: Nope, only 28 chapters in Acts

Looks like they're not Bible references then :( No it doesn;t have the answers in the back sadly. Somewhere in the UK a statue has been buried. It is made of solid gold and worth £10,000 (about $17-18,000). The clues to find it are hidden within the pages of the book in illustrations and the story. Whoever solves it first gets the statue!

I'm not sure how you are supposed to look up these scriptures anyway. LK 3:1:11 makes no sense to me. Usually it would look like LK 3:1, 11 (chapter 3 verses one and eleven) OR LK 3:1-11 (chapter 3 verses 1 through 11). I don't really know what LS stands for either. Usually Leviticus is Lev and Lamintations is Lam

I thought it might be Luke, Chapter 3, Verse 1, Word 11 to make a sentence or something? But if LS isn't a book then I'm at a loss...

I'm thinking they are Bible references, but not in a form you would expect. The notation is not correct for a standard Bible referece. There are too many numbers seperated by colons. A colon usually only seperates chapter from verse. Verses are sperated from each other by a dash or a comma and when multiple chapters are sited without any verses, a comma or semicolon is used. For example,

LK 1:2-5 (Luke, chapter 1, verses 2 through 5)
LK 1:2,6 (Luke, chapter 1, verses 2 and 5)
LK 1,2,5 (Luke Chapters 1,2 and 5)
Lk 1;2;5 (Luke Chapters 1,2 and 5)

LK 3:1:11 makes no sense. Could it be someting like the 11th letter of the third word of the first sentence found in Luke? How about the 11th word of the 3rd sentence of the first paragraph?

I would say suggest looking for different possible refernces that these numbers might be giving than the standard chapter verse reference.

We figured it out! The LS wasn't LS at all, it was IS; Isiah!

We've looked them all up now, unfortunately I think they make even less sense now!!!!
