people wearing ponchos on water rides :o

:wave2: Hi! Count me among the poncho wearers....I don't mind getting splashed but I purely hate walking around in wet undies and squelching shoes...and of course I have to protect the digital camera & cell phone with the ADR numbers....

Count me among the Poncho Wearers...

BUT...

I must say they don't work very well when all the water makes it's way down the neck and you wind up sitting in a puddle as often happen in my case :rotfl:

the absolute worst(or best) wet ride is the one at Hersheypark. When they say you will get wet, they aint kiddin!!

We went on Kali this past December without ponchos. I love rides and I don't mind getting wet. But when I tell you that me and my two DD's 7 an 5 got DRENCHED, it doesn't really tell you how wet we were.

It was like we had been fully submerged in water. We had a great laugh about it, but I ended up buying them (very expensive) outfits in a store at AK, because they were very cold and uncomfortable. I had an extra shirt with me to go out to dinner that night, so I made due.

BUT, if I go again in the winter...or if we have dinner plans...I will definately wear a poncho next time.

I'm not a wimp...really. It was fun to GET that wet, but it wasn't fun at all to BE that wet.

I feel like wearing the poncho is taking away from the ride. Its Florida and it takes very little time to be dry again.

I love getting wet because my pants dry fast. Wearing jeans though, if you get soaked your going to be uncomfortable...

We all wear ponchos on Kali, and if you want to spend your vacation laughing at my family, then by all means, it's your vacation. :lmao:

Seriously though, Kali's a different breed of water ride. I would no sooner walk into my shower at home with my clothes, shoes and backpack on, then get on Kali without a poncho.

Psst, 97 cent ponchos at Walmart, get 'em before you go!

For me it depends on my mood and the weather. In either case, I don't think getting my underwear soaked is the whole point of a $40,000,000 (or whatever) ride like Kali River Rapids - there are much cheaper, low-tech means of achieving said sensation...
Water is my favorite type of ride vehicle propulsion for slow rides because it is smoother and more gentle than either steel or wood tracks for the most part. Occasional splashes are a refreshing bonus. But being soaked to the bone is not my thing, even in the middle of summer. :fish: I prefer the water parks for that.

I've been on Kali a few times but my bf and I just have no desire to go on it anymore b/c I hate walking around in wet clothes and I'm too lazy to plan out bringing ponchos/extra shoes/clothes :rotfl: I also think the ride is pretty boring. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I can't stand the thought of walking around in wet clothes..lol

I love Splash Mt and always end up with a wet bottom and at the last drop I always get wet in one place no matter where I sit- the very front of my head/hair. I have pictures of me with characters at the MK and I always have this big wet spot in my bangs, it looks horrible :sad2: :teeth:

The ponchos always come out when we ride Kali River Rapids. If anyone wants to chuckle, chuckle away. We love the ride, and I bet our experience isn't any less enjoyable because of our ponchos than yours is without one. The only difference is you may get drenched, and we won't. Happy rafting to all!

...whenever I see it I just chuckle and think "isn't that the whole point of going on a water ride...to get wet?...even a little?"

...I surely can't be the only one here :boat:

I guess I would be one of those people that you chuckle at as I love the drops on Splash and Kali but walking around with wet undies for the rest of the day just does not apeal to me. I actually get a chuckle out of the people buying a complete new outfit off the cart that this located at the exit of Kali.

We went on Splash twice last week in a matter of 30 minutes. The first time we just got a little wet on the hill but the second time we got DRENCHED when we were passing the area where the log comes down! And I mean drenched as in shirts dripping wet. It was warm and sunny but it was about 6 hours before I was dry all the way down to the skin. I wouldn't have minded the poncho. :)

I wear a poncho on Kali or I don't go. I don't mind getting wet, but I don't like getting soaked and then having to walk around dripping wet and uncomfortable. It ruins the rest of the day. My 9 year old won't go on Kali because she got soaked a few years back. It was a bit chilly and we had to buy her a whole new outfit at exorbitant WDW park prices because we didn't have anything for her to change into.

I never understood the poncho thing either. If you don't want to get wet then why ride in the first place. We go on the rides when we think we will feel okay being soaked. Other then that we just avoid them.

I could have started this thread, I agree 100% :teeth:

I enjoyed KRR the few times I went on it, but I probably won't do it again. Dealing with getting that wet is too much hassle. :earsboy:

I didn't mean to offend any poncho wearers :rotfl:

sometimes I chuckle and sometimes I snicker...but it all depends on what type of candy I'm in the mood for :woohoo:

I hate wet clothes and shoes. I wore the poncho, and took my socks off. I had crocs on, so after my feet dried, I put my socks back on and was ALMOST completely dry. The poncho helps but did not completely keep me dry. :woohoo:

A type of rubber shoes. Go to www.crocs.com and look at them. I am a nurse and these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. My kids wear them too.
