We were at Disneyland on Sat, Dec 13. For those of us who aren't from California, what's the deal with all the young people who were dressed funky and covered in beads?

I'm from California but I have no idea about people with beads.

I remember reading something, so I went googling, and it might have been Raver Day. There's a page on flickr that you can get to if you google "raver day disneyland", to see if those are the beads and styles that you saw.

So is that raver as in people who go to rave parties or does it mean something else? I guess i'm just confused what about what beads have to do with anything. :confused3 Interesting though.

I went last year when the "candy kids" were there. And the majority of them were really nice kids. DD and my nephew talked to quite a few of them and asked them about how they were dressed and such. They even got bracelets from one of them.

Very interesting......I'm a SoCal resident who is always at DL and I've never seen anything like this! I'll keep my eyes peeled tomorrow when I'm there

We were there a couple years ago when a ton of those kids were there. They were loud and annoying and kept cutting into lines.

We saw them there on Saturday. I was fascinated with the colorful bracelets, but more so with the lack of clothing on some of the girls. I was cold with my sweatshirt and jeans, and these young ladies had short shorts and thin tank tops on! Oh, too be young again...

We saw them also on sat my step daughter wanted to take a pictures with one in particular because she was so beeded out in pink and thought it was cool... It looked like they were having a blast.

We were there last year when it was Raver Day and we saw a young man with pants that looked like he shaved a Yeti to make them and he was dancing in front of the Matterhorn, people were taking pictures of him.

Maybe he didn't see it as acting like a fool, maybe he saw it as having fun and entertaining people. Acting like a fool is subjective, I think Jim Carrey is a fool much of the time but DBF thinks he's brilliant. LOL

I don't know what being a "raver" or a "candy kid" is.....I'm just glad that so far my girls are pretty mainstream. :)

we saw lots of the candy ravers. my mom asked what they were and i said.. i think they are just teenagers who call themselves candy ravers. they had on lots of colorful bracelets and furry fluffy things. i never saw any of them do anything bad. they kept to themselves.

we've been to disneyland during lots of diverse group days.:goodvibes

Ravers (Club Kids, Candy Kids, etc.) are typically associated with recreational drug use. That is something I am strongly against. And definitely something I don't think should be associated with Disneyland. Just my opinion, of course.

The only funny/cool thing I found about the dancing raver kid was that he was wearing Yeti-ish pants in front of the Matterhorn. If he was in front or near some other ride I would have just walked by, but his Yeti pants being in front of the Matterhorn made me laugh.
