people that pay OOP

IMHO all are worth paying OOP depending on the way you eat. We eat a large breakfast and dinner and very little in between and would definitely not benefit from the DDP, we wouldn't want the snacks or counter service meal and although if you eat everything at a table service meal the price is better on the DDP we personally eat mainly just one course and a drink as the portions in Florida are quite large. I'm sure others will disagree.

The only meal we would never do again is that at 1900PF.

What do you mean by "worth."

Disney's prices, depending on what part of the country you come from are either reasonable or atrocious. Their food, depending on what you are used to at home ranges from barely acceptable to wonderful. What your dollar is worth depending on what that dollar means to you.

To us, we find some Disney restaurants worth it for theme (Sci Fi) that might not be worth it for food. We find some worth it for food (California Grill) - but can easily spend $100+ a person there - which is definately NOT worth it to a lot of other people. We find some restaurants to have acceptable food for the money spent (like Le Cellier) not incredible food, but appropriate for the final bill. And a few bad values - I personally find Beaches and Cream to be a horrible value - MANY other DISers disagree.

We always eat our big meal of the day at lunchtime...lunch prices are cheaper than dinner prices.
There are many places that are worth paying OOP, as we have never used the dining plan. For our family of four and the way that we structure our meals, it simply is more costly to use the dining plan.
Some of our favorite places are Bomas, the Flame Tree BBQ, the 50's Prime Time, the Plaza, the Liberty Tree Tavern, and our kids "can't miss meal"...the Hollywood and Vine...
Another favorite is the Hoop de Doo Revue...if you are looking for a dinner show...

We eat breakfast in our room, carry snacks with us and eat lunch between 1-2 PM...If we get hungry later, we grab counter service, or eat at the food court when we get back to our resort.

Boatwrights. Had the jambalaya for dinner. And it came with cornbread. Got a very good amount. :goodvibes

We've always only paid OOP because we don't want to spend much time of our vacation at TS restaurants. We did eat both breakfast and lunch at the Crystal Palace and felt it was worth the money. We arranged it that we were full for much of the day, plus we got to hug Tigger!

We also ate breakfast at Ohana and felt that was worth the money; we like to eat big breakfasts and one other meal later between lunch and dinner. It's a good time for shorter lines and saves money in the long run. Again, the cost of Ohana included the hug from Lilo and Stitch, our favorite characters! And, how can you put a price on those hugs? :goodvibes

when we're on the DDP, we save our TS credits for the better restaurants, and pay OOP for the cheaper meals (like lunch at sci-fi, or dinner at 50s, where we only get the entree, no appetizer/desserts)

We too do lunch for our table service meals. We usually go to 50's, Le Cellier, Rainforest Cafe, Earl of Sandwich, Liberty Tree Tavern, Big River Brewery, ESPN club, Sci-FI, Mama Melroses and several counter service. The restaurants I've listed have been pretty good values at lunch.

We did the Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom for breakfast and thought it was well worth it. DH is a huge breakfast fan so we always do breakfast, usually a late lunch (either counter service or sit down) and a snack later on in the evening. I looked into the DDP but based on how we eat (rarily eat a large dinner) it wouldn't work for us.

See, and for us, Boatwright's was by FAR the worst meal of our trip. :scared:

So, it all depends on your preferences and what it's worth to you is. :goodvibes

We loved Coral Reef (lunch) and Le Cellier (dinner). Those two were our favorites of the trip and we thought they were definitely worth the money we spent. :)

Before my first trip on the DDP last year we would usually make several table service ressies. I usually travel with my parents, and they like to have a restful meal during the course of the day. Le Cellier, 50's Prime Time and the Alfredos were "musts" for us. I found Le Cellier and 50's Prime Time to be good values for what you got food and entertainment wise.

This year we are traveling with my brother's family. They only do 3 TS meals. CRT for the kids, Hollywood and Vine for the Fantasmic package, and Biergarten for it being a good deal and the entertainment.

The only place I went to on my last trip that I was unhappy with was Tony's Town Square, but my friend loved it. Go figure.

I searched long and hard for robinb's post and FINALLY found it!!! Click here to see her spreadsheet that she made re:DDP. She lists the top 25 TS and CS choices for the DDP. Your best values when paying OOP would be the opposite of what she recommends for the DDP.
Hope this helps you out. :)
