People - please listen to this

I haven't read the whole thread, but I'll say this much - we're going with or without free dining. So I'm booking (actually, booked already). Period. I don't want to miss out on the resort we want by waiting.

While I understand wanting a discount, it is certainly not a given. If you really want to go to Disney you will book where you want, when you want and just hope for the best. Personally, I am not going to delay booking my vacation so that more discounted rooms and/or free dining MAY be available for somebody else.

I agree 100%. I was able to get a AAA discount and I am happy with that, however if a discount comes out saving me more money I will be doing the happy dance. I am not going to take a chance not getting my AAA discount if the dates don't correspond to the dates I need to go and then all the AAA rooms are booked.

I have gotten the 40% off post card with pin # and I wasn't able to use it. I just have to hope for some pixie dust. pixiedust:

I changed my room from WL to POR due to a 5th person being added to our party and was able to receive the AAA discount without any issues last week. I have been also changing around my ADR's without any issues too as of yesterday.

ITA - I'm not gambling on my dates and/or discounts. Plus, do you seriously believe that there are really all that many that booked "just in case" and will cancel? I think there are many more that booked and will go anyway than there are that will cancel if not announced.

Besides, I didn't book my "free dining" trip last year until mid to late June, and there was still plenty of availability in values (except ASMovies), mods and deluxes. I don't think the speculative bookings alone will make or break the possibility of a free dining promotion.

I can't wait until they make this announcement!!! And I am not even going to WDW at this time....lol....what will be our next topic? :) I purposely brought up DDP to a DVC guide....in conversation...she brought up what many of you know abt the year it was originally offered...all the Hurricanes etc....just a marketing plan to pull in guests....she said Disney does whatever they want and if bookings are high, they see no need to offer anything "free".
She also stated how alot of guests request *free* overnight accomodations to come to take tours for a possible DVC purchase...she said same thing with DDP....people will still do it regardless.

Hopefully next week there will be alot of happy Dis ers here!!!!
Good luck!!!!!

Obviously, I don't know how many "speculative" bookings there are. I do know that there a bunch of people on here (and probably more in the real world) that have said they will cancel.

But more likely, I think, are the people who are booked for the beginning of August and end of September (based on previous years and the other two promotions) who will change their dates by a couple of days (or weeks) to take advantage of the free dining. It may not affect September all that much, since the difference between the rumored dates and existing dates is only a week, but it may throw off the projections for August by quite a bit. In which case, I would expect another good offer for August to come out sometime later this year. Maybe not free dining, but perhaps something along the lines of the 40% PIN code? I'll be curious to see how it all plays out.

I don't think so, either, but they may have affected the dates it will be offered. Of course, the bounceback/UK promotions alone may have done that, but who knows?

And we were right there with you last year. Booked in June, got our first choice of resorts and were able to add on days no problem. We were also able to get virtually every ADR we wanted only two months out with no problem. I hope that's the case this year, too, but I doubt it.

Good luck to all!

My DH thought I was crazy planning our first trip over 2 years ago. Now he appreciates the *hard* work I put into our vacation. If he only knew that planning is part of the fun for me! I'm like a Disney World junkie that needs a fix, and our next trip is still 6 months away!!

This pretty much describes my DH and me except that he knows the rush I get from planning.
