Does anyone own either a Peloton or Echelon bike? If so which one and how do you like it? Do you use it as often as you thought you would? Do you prefer the live rides or the scenic ones?

I ordered the Echelon bike a few weeks ago, and it is supposed to arrive on May 1st. I couldn't pull the trigger (price wise) on the Peloton right now. Excited to get it and start riding.

I got my Peloton in mid-February. Over the past few years, I've tried several times to get into the habit of working out, but had never found anything I stuck with longer than a month or so. I have headache issues, and running is too high impact and sets off my headaches, so I was looking for something more low impact. I started off with the Peloton app and was doing their walking classes on our treadmill and fell in love with the classes. Did that for about a month and then decided to go book an appointment at the Peloton showroom to test out a bike.

I absolutely love my Peloton. I just finished my 80th ride this morning, and have used it every single day since we got it. I have never sweat and gotten a workout like I do on this bike. The classes and instructors are what makes this bike. Without those, I would have no interest in it whatsoever. I have only done one scenic ride, and while I enjoyed it listening to my own music, there is just something about doing an actual class. I pick out what class I want to do before I go to bed, and I'm actually excited in the morning to go jump on. So many times I get on thinking I will take it easy this time, and almost always end up pushing myself by the end to try and beat my personal record or climb up higher on the leader board.

Enjoy your bike!!

Gosh remember the good 'ole days back in December when we had a bazillion page thread on the Peloton ad. :(

Not sure if that was meant to be snarky towards me or not. Since my question has nothing to do with Peloton advertising practices I will take it as "not." :)

Did you receive your Echelon bike? Do you enjoy your workouts with it? I have been going back and forth about bikes and today pulled the trigger on the Peloton. Get this- my delivery date is Sept. 10th!! I kid you not. Well, I will be prepared for the next wave I suppose. I have unlimited access to the online classes this summer, so that is something. I’m a teacher, and wanted something indoors to do when the weather gets hot and humid. I’m hoping our gym opens eventually, but with my luck it too will open in September. Oh well. I hope you like your bike and are using it!

I kinda think it was a perfect storm for Peloton, they received a ton of exposure at Christmas time. Add in gyms are closed and people have to exercise at home! (But it only works if people can afford it) I wonder how their stock is doing?

Yes, I agree. I go out for daily walks, along with everyone else. Closed gym, and no timeframe in them reopening. I got rid of my treadmill last summer to make more room, and I’m constantly regretting that decision. Outdoor bikes in a normal price range are out of stock. I can workout at home, but needed some new challenge and have been debating the Peloton for months. A colleague got one last summer and raves about it constantly, but I am more a runner and the bike cost is really a commitment (they don’t even offer treads right now). I decided to go for it and the website said 7-11 weeks until delivery, which stinks but I get why. After I already paid and went to set up delivery, the earliest date for delivery said September 10- over 3 months out. I Am hoping that they have some cancellations and ramp up production once we enter new re-opening phases. In the meanwhile, I’ve been trying several of the classes, and love them so far.

I’ve tried a lot of different spin bikes, both at regular gyms and at a handful of spin studios, and the Peleton bike is by far my favorite. I think it’s the smoothest ride, the most comfortable, the most well-designed, etc. The physical experience is just so much better, even aside from all the digital content.
