Jordan- I hope the weather gets a little better. The weather men here are even talking about California weather and showing radars and such. I just saw a golf course that had a huge river going through the middle of it!

I was talking about tongue out pics and someone reminded me on my PTR that I had this pic on my TR. I thought you would appreciate it! ;)

Tornado warnings are scary, especially when you live in places that are not equipped for that type of weather (sirens etc.). This past summer Ontario got hit by a vicious storm that spawned several tornadoes across the province. Of course we never get that kind of weather so we don't have tornado sirens. It was rather scary just watching the news and waiting and wondering if one was going to come our way. Luckily we do have basements here though. ;)

How stinkin cute is this!! Love the picture. :lovestruc

If i've had red onions, absolutely.

Two words: Taco Bell :sad2:

Glad it's gone. Tornado warnings are scary. I remember a couple of years ago in Maryland, all of a sudden I started hearing the sirens wailing on base. I had never heard them before. Turned on the news and there was a tornado spotted in the area. Talk about freaking out!

A couple of years ago, we had a tornado warning in effect while I was at work...two tornados had touched down less then 5 miles from my job. I work for an insurance company and we were told to keep taking calls because people were going to need to us. :confused3

In looking at my trip notes, I realized when it got to the end of my 08 trip, I slept in....LATE.

We did that too...although I noticed it more when we went last March. we slept in and skipped our breakfast ressie at Boatwrights. I'm still a little upset over that. Breakfast is my favorite meal.

I really didn't follow my itinerary too closely, especially in the evenings. By the time I got back to the room in the afternoon, I was beat and took 2-3 hour naps. When I got up from my nap, I just went to Everything Pop; grabbed dinner and just kind of hung out.

That happened to us one day on this past trip...I forgot to bring my meds with me to the park and I had to go back to get them from POP. We were supposed to go get them and go back to AK for evening EMH. I slept for 4 hours instead :sad1: I'm so sad i missed EMH at AK!!

Options:
Magic Kingdom
World Showcase
ESPN/Jellyrolls

My heart is in World Showcase but going to ESPN could possibly mean hanging out with Matt....this is a tough one...

I AM keeping my Wednesday ADR at Sanaa as to complete the AKL/AKV trifecta, but now I may even get a meal at Mara.

I am dying to know what Sanaa is like. Getting over there will be a pain in the rear, but I'm willing to risk it for a good meal...especially at AKL.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I mean I was kind of scared, but really...after sitting in the hallway with no way of knowing whether a tornado was really imminent, I just got up and went to look outside and watch the wind. Stupid I know, but we never really get extreme weather here. I guess an F1 touched down in Seal Beach which is about 8-9 miles from here, but it only caused minor damage for about 1/2 a block--a few windows got blown out, a car got flipped, a few roofs damaged.

where I come a flipped car is a little more than minor damage..:rotfl2:

Yes, I agree with Winkers....I would say that's pretty serious....

I remember several years ago we had a pretty bad hurricane and my mom went outside with the video camera to record it....:confused3 I don't really know why.....

None of that stuff. they said most Californians would not be prepared if we had a earthquake like Haiti. I told my roommates a few days ago that we should get an earthquake preparedness kit. They laughed at me.

You do know that your state is sinking into the Pacific, right? Maybe you should be prepared for that....

Dairy, YES.....

Oh you lactose intolerant people are getting on my nerves!! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

They used to have an attraction where American Idol is now called Superstar Television where they picked people to recreate famous scenes from TV shows. One of the scenes was the Lucy and Ethel scene at the candy factory...soooo funny. Wendy was actually chosen and did a great job.

Awww I would have LOVED THIS!!!

Wow, Jordan, you had an exciting day! Your storm made it's way over here yesterday and wiped out a couple of my neighbors trees. I'm glad we bought the anchoring spikes for the trampoline. :scared1: There's supposed to be more coming in the next few days. I remember a small tornado touched down in HB in the 90s but what a rare occurrence!
I remember our first tornado siren experience in Texas. We were renting a house with a very open floor plan so the only "interior" room downstairs was the powder room. Dh, me, Phoebe, dog #1 (75lbs) and dog #2 (65lbs) in a 1/4 bathroom in hot, humid Texas in the summer time. It was nice to hear the sirens stop and the hail stop and the wind calm down without any damage to us...It did rip up a bldg downtown though. Thankfully, high winds and tornadoes are somewhat predictable. Earthquakes on the other hand....might be a real good idea to have a kit under your bed. Shoes (cause at night you're barefoot and there will be glass etc on the ground), water (cause pipes will be broken), flashlight, batteries, radio, etc. It wouldn't take much and you'd be the hero of the apartment, obviously.

I'm originally from Kansas so I know a couple of things. ;)
I wish I had been on here when you asked this. Sorry Jordy. Are you on the top floor of your Apt. complex? If you are, you should bug a down stairs neighbor or bust through the door, and no I'm not joking. Slightly open a couple of windows in the apartment and then go to the inner most room or bathroom, even if it doesn't have a tub in it, the pipes for a toilet and sink go all the way into the ground so if your haning on to the pipes your better off. Always make sure you put your shoes on, and I don't mean your flip flops Jordy, you need to be able to walk over or kick your way out of anything incase it does hit. I'm not trying to scare you, but this is a matter of your safety. I don't want you to be unsafe. In the future have a radio that you can put batteries in, we keep some batteries in our freezer, this way they don't go bad. The new IPods have a radio incase you were thinking about getting a new one, and they don't require headphones either. I think having an incase bag is good, can goods are good, along with a first aid, can opener and a rain pancho or two, as well as a change of clothes, a couple of zip locs and plastic grocery bags (that is if California hasn't outlawed them yet) for wet items or incase you need to keep things dry. I would stick my change of clothes inside a zip loc and anything else you want to stay dry. I knew we could get you to pack your clothes in them sooner or later! You probably have an earthquake kit so take that with you as well, some of what I've mentioned will already be in there. I can't think of anything else. Oh and take a thick comforter or two with you to cover up with, if you can't or don't think of it then grab a small mattress to cover yourself with. Under stairs are also good, stairs and bathrooms seem to be some of the only things standing in the worst hit homes. Hopefully you'll never have to use this info. :upsidedow

We are woefully unprepared for any type of disaster in our home.:confused3

Thanks sooo much for the tips.

 My dad is the exact same way, he always has it on in the mornings, we use to tease him and call the weather channel, old people's MTV. :rotfl:

During hurricane season I am glued to the weather channel.

I wear the weather channel fan badge proudly.

Mmmmm, spewed and redrunk D.P.
Rare to find a D.P drinker in Cali., out in my neck of the woods yes, and where I'm originally from, but not usually in Cali. When I lived there it was so hard to find on tap in restaurants, it was usually nasty Mr.Pibb :crazy2: is it still the same?

I don't what happened, but most places are switching back to Dr Pepper. Did Coke buy out Dr Pepper?

:laughing:I love being on the DIS!! Only other people who keep their last itinerary understand why you keep yours. My family just laughs at me for keeping all that old information. Once I had thought all my park maps were thrown out ...... it was not a pretty couple of hours for me. My sister thought I was joking at first, now she really knows how seriously I take it.

I keep all my old stuff. I just threw away my receipts from the last trip......:rolleyes1

I like your new plans. Getting up at 10 is so much more appealing than 8.
The food at Everything Pop looks good. Is it better than some of the other resort CS? I was NOT impressed with Captain Cooks at all.

If I had never been to WDW before, I would totally get there early. However, after 15 trips, I'm not in such a rush. Plus, I know I'll be back again.:thumbsup2

It's pretty good. I almost always went to the salad/flatbread pizza counter and the flatbreads and soups were very good...

GOOD CALL!! Enjoy the sleep!!

I may not even set the alarm a few times.:)

Wow... that is how I felt when we got an earthquake in Indiana a few years ago. I was completely intrigued... not scared. It's kind of exciting when something that's NOT supposed to happen where you live, happens. (Well, as long as no one gets hurt, right?)

Standing at the window waiting for the tornado was probably not the best idea...but it was interesting. i was looking for rotation in the clouds....

You were wishing for rain... I guess you got it!! I'm glad to hear you didn't blow away in a tornado! I hope the rain that is still to come doesn't cause too many problems for you.

Your revised itinerary looks good to me! :thumbsup2 I think you made some smart changes.

We have plenty....I love rain if I don't have to go out in it. I used to go out and sit in the rain with an umbrella when I was a child.

I'm hoping to come home from WDW more rested than I usually do. Usually I burn the candle at both ends and come home exhausted...not what vacations should be like...

OMG....i see that you updated yesterday and i had to go back FIVE pages to find the update. geez!!!

did i really just use the term OMG? what am i? 14?

I almost used OMG yesterday, but refrained.

i think it's wise to learn from your past experiences. it stinks about cancelling some stuff but at least you won't be stressed out and exhausted at the end of your trip! oh, and i hear good things about mara.

I read the menu for Mara....looks good.

that's crazy! glad it turned out to be nothing. we get them here all the time between march and june. actually year-round but that's the really bad time. i've been known to be sitting on the floor in my laundry room (the most internal room in the house with no windows) with our guest bedroom mattress leaning on the washer with me sitting under it and with both dogs on a leash next to me while our town's tornado alarm is going off. i'm sure you can picture it.

I'm glad it didnt come to that here....it's actually pouring and very windy outside right now....

Update on the itenirary looks good, Jordan.

Also glad the tornado didn't get you. We live in Denver and while we get the warnings and watches all the time, we have yet to have one touch down near us. Thank goodness. :D

Thanks!

It's supposed to be bad tomorrow.

next time we have a tornado warning i will try to remember to bring my camera along.

don't forget now...;)

Jordan...it's supposed to be bad tomorrow? What are the calling the last few days? Not so bad? lol

Jordy, I hope you, Wendy and family are weathering the weather OK. I just broke my not watching news ban to see if your floating away out there, and it doesn't look good. But then again it's not like the news stations to try and over exaggerate something just to get watchers to stay glued to the t.v. or anything.
Please let us know your not seeing Noah's Ark floating by any time soon. :thumbsup2

We just got a big squall but it's calming down right now....tomorrow's supposed to be worse.

Jordan- I hope the weather gets a little better. The weather men here are even talking about California weather and showing radars and such. I just saw a golf course that had a huge river going through the middle of it!

I drove by the local golf course and it's in a flood plain. It was flooded.

I wonder why we don't have basements here?

I got worried when the TV satellite went out, but like I said, standing at the window I was....:rolleyes1. I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack.

Two words: Taco Bell :sad2:
I try to avoid Taco Bell. The freeze dried beans are nasty.

It was soo fun and really was part of what made the original theming of MGM so appealing. It was high on audience participation.
