I can't speak to LA, but in these parts, there are no basements for two reason. One, we have a high water table so they'd be prone to flooding. Two, the ground turns from nice and earthy to hard as a rock clay after a couple of feet. (It's not uncommon to have to resort to "blasting" just to install a swimming pool....which is why most here are of the above ground variety.)

Basements are handy to fill with a bunch of junk you should of thew out in the first place. You should be glad you don't have one! LOL

The only one I've been hurt with was not electric. I stuck a chisel in my thumb. (Makes me think of that old Saturday Night Live bit with Billy Crystal and Christopher Guest where they'd describe all these painful things they did to themselves and after each one say, "Oh, I hate when I do that".)

Boy Glenn, you nailed that one. Before we bought our current home, we rented a house with a doghouse in the backyard. I emailed pics of it to my MIL and told her it was her new suite. She didn't see the humor in it.

Anywho, I'm trying to to wear down the sinus meds so I can sleep. To that end I'm channel surfing with the remote in one hand and DIS surfing with my Crackberry in the other.

There's some sort of documentary about the space shuttle on. The dude was talking about how dangerous meteroites were. He said if the shuttle encountered one, It could cause a catastrophic "explosive decompression". I was like, Dude!. Same thing happens to me every time I encounter a Golden Corral.

That's how I wound up on the do not serve list. My picture's by the greeter's podium with a Nuke Fallout symbol over it. How was I supposed to know there was gas main under the building? Darned poor planning if you ask me. They still refer to it as the great Bubba Blast of '04.

Anyway, enjoying the nightly banter there Jordo! Love the updates. Wait, I think I said that already in an earlier post. Whatever. I love 'em so much I'll say it again. Which I believe I just did. Back there. A couple of sentences ago.
