Peeps 2. The Sweaty Asian Strikes Back. Pt 2. Feb '10. 2/21-Final Chapter. Link to TR

Well Jordan, I'm moderately caught up on this phase of your PTR - another case of I got busy and you added another 50 pages :lmao:

I'm hoping to have some more time over the holiday to go back and comment on more specifics, but I did want to throw my 2 cents in on that 'extra day' you were talking about.

I know it's not Disney and it has a separate cost to it - but if you can swing Discovery Cove (with or without the dolphin experience) I highly recommend it. You get pampered with a great breakfast and lunch spread, plus it is an Anheiser Busch park - so all the free beer you can drink (I partook of several Amber Bocks while I was there). You can do as much or as little as you want as far as animal interactions - but if you like the river at Typhoon Lagoon, you'll love the one at DC. Just a thought.

And since the photogs had run amuck on your thread I'll put in my two cents there. I have friends who still shoot on 35mm and I certainly agree about some of what has been said about what you can do with film ...especially black and white. You just can't get the same results with a DSLR.

I think it comes down to if you like to find the moment and create a perfect shot. If you do, then it is worth the time and expense to use film. It is a test of "eye" and precision. Of really knowing what is an important shot or moment and getting it right.

But I am more of a "gonzo-style" shooter. On a trip I usually take over 1,000 shots a day, otherwise I'd just miss those moments. I took about 15,000 hi-res shots over the course of 12 days in Orlando last year. And with all of that shooting I had an average of one in five to one in ten that were real "keepers" (I posted about 1,800 pictures on my TR).

Where this really came into play was with character interactions with the kids and live action shows. With the interactions the facial expressions change from second to second and catching that 'perfect moment' is like a roll of the dice. So I hedge my bets by taking more than I need. And capturing live action is just a constant shooting process to keep up with all of the elements in view.

Yup, it is kind of "hack"ish, but between a 4GB card and an entry level Rebel with a good lens (plus and extra battery) I know I'll get the shots. And if a shot doesn't work I just hit delete, no harm - no foul. But then again I don't make myself out to be a "pro" either and only work for food (or Disney Dollars) :goodvibes

I loved your portion of the TR dedicated to Discovery Cove. Someday......i really like tropical types of locales so I'm sure I'd love it. 2012 looks like a likely time..

From Chonies, to farts, to food, to cameras. Love it!

ok...I have to comment on the photo themes :)

my friend has a whole photo album (she lives in FL) and it's titled 'WHAT WERE YOU THINKING AT WDW?!' and it's just what eveyrone is talking about...the 'what not to wear' photos... I laugh every time :)

Jordan, if you wanted to get artsy-fartsy you could look for patterns and abstracts in every day objects. Take a close-up of something that makes it unrecognizable until you take another shot pulled back to show what it is. That type of stuff. Not nearly as "fun" as goofy hair and shoes though. ;)

I like this...

~ MAREESA (my name as spoken by an Asian person)
(when I worked at a produce company in OC, I got quite used to the accents of the Asian chefs who called in for orders. Lomaine, Rettuce, Remon, Led cabbage. The one I could never remember was Baneara. (Vanilla). That one got me every time. But all that aside, I have PROFOUND respect for anyone who comes to this country and learns enough English to have a conversation. Kudos!!!)

Thanks for the Peeps story:rotfl2:
Thanks for also giving props to the Peeps and all Peeps

hahaha ok... might not be able to comment on what I missed but I'm going to catch up right now :)

I'm pretty much thinking I need to do this now

What makes it worse. Japanese don't pronounce the letter "R". So if they are from Japan and trying to learn my name, they naturally say JODAN and then they just start laughing at me....Thanks Mom and Dad.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Too funny!

I'm liking the "what were you thinking" idea. That's what I'm doing. It'll be fun to see what we all come up with.

PS- Now that all my Christmas shopping is done I am having a hard time trying to keep myself from the travel sized aisle. MUST - KEEP - A - DISTANCE - AT - LEAST - UNTIL - JANUARY!!!!! :scared:

I must admit that I've been down the travel aisle...I am trying to get a mental checklist of things that I need for the trip...I am most interested in the 3 in 1 laundry detergent which I didn't see in the travel aisle section. Is it in the regular detergent section in travel size or were they just out in the travel aisle section? I must know..;)

So, I tried out my new J. word yesterday on Kyoko. She completely cracked up when I said it, but then I busted myself with DH, when I had to explain where I learned it. OMGosh, we had a bust a gut moment over that!! (not the fact that I was on here again, but that i knew that J. word...)

I have a picture for you...

It had the normal effect it has on those who are fluent in Japanese.... I'm happy to help my Peeps get a laugh...:thumbsup2

I feel like I"m playing ring-around-the-rosie with all the late nighter/west coasters here. You know just making the rounds sort of gig! I LOVE IT!!

Anyway, thanks for the laugh. Anytime you need a Blank-a-Stani word, let me know; it's such a widely spoken lang., I know. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Those little mini detergent bottles that I had last year?? I got those on the travel aisle at Target. OMG, if they don't have them this year I wonder where I could find them!?! They were really neat. Plus they were cute!! Hmmmm, I'm on a mission this year.

That's what we used last summer. They worked great....and no liquids to worry about in our luggage. :thumbsup2 Consumer Reports recently took a look at them and they didn't fare really well, so I wouldn't use them at home on a regular basis, but for travel they were great.

I bought those a few months ago thinking they were cool. After doing a load of laundry that included d.jay's chonies, we discovered he's allergic to purex.:rotfl:
