OK, it's my birthday trip so I'm going to splurge a bit and I thought I'd like to have cute toes for the beaches! Should I get a pedicure at home before we leave or is it possible to get it done on the ship on departure day without missing anything. I'm on the 4-day with the early dinner seating.

Thanks!

If it were me, I would do a pedicure at home. There is so much to do on a DCL cruise, I am sure you will be glad that you did.

I always do my mani/pedi before I leave and if I am on a 7 day or more, I may do a manicure at the end.

As an aside, my son lives in Mt. Pleasant, SC.

:cheer2:

I agree. Get a great pedi at home then you will have great toes while you get on the ship..Bring a bottle of the same color because you may need touch ups...Have fun!!

I have not had a pedicure onboard, but have read a thread where people were talking about them. The general feeling was that the quality was not good (most said it wore of in a very short time). That being said, I'd get it at home so that the quality is better and you won't "waste" cruise time. Suz

Thanks! Makes perfect sense. :goodvibes

birkner- I've been in Charleston for 15 years now and love it! It is actually a bit cold here today (barely 60 :lmao: ) after many days in the 70s. I'm actually on Johns Island, but my best friend is in Mt. P. Only 40 minutes or so apart, but with busy family lives it seems much farther!

I also say do one at home. I always do it and the excitement builds. It also gives the polish time to thoroughly dry.

I'm VERY high strung and sometimes have a problem relaxing, even on vacation. I've made it a tradition that I have to be all packed the morning before we leave on any warm weather vacation, so I can go get a mani & pedi in the evening after work. I grab a Starbucks and just unwind for an hour or so while they do my nails. It's AWESOME and really gets our vacations off to a better start! So I say, do it at home and save the time and money for other great things on board!

I know you decided pedicure at home....good decision IMHO cost effective along with doing all you want to do on your vacation. 1 thing do NOT forget the nail polish so you can touch up, if necessary.

ABSOULTELY! Get a good one at home, bring touch uo polish. It will cost less $$, and will probably be much better quality.

I had a pedicure on the Wonder after being advised not to here on the Disboards. Should've listened!!! Polish was coming off my fingernails that night at dinner, and off my toes shortly thereafter. The experience was pleasant, but from now on I'm doing it at home before I go. I've learned my lesson about ignoring advice from the Disboards!

Have fun!

I, too, had a less than stellar pedicure onboard. I would not recommend it at all. Plus, it's fun to treat yourself before you leave with a nice bright tropical color to get into vacation mode!

Yep, get the pedicure at home and bring the polish for touch ups! Sand is murder on a pedicure!

I got a pedicure on day 1 at 1:45. It was great! All I missed was watching my DD swim in the pool which I left to my DH and I was able to that later in the trip, of course! I was the only person in the entire salon area and that was quite relaxing. :cloud9:

I would do the Peddie at home........I have heard Raves about the Hot Stone Massage!! (have one booked on our cruise as a Birthday gift to me!!)

I had one aboard the Wonder and am getting one again on the Magic next week. I agree that a pedi at home will probably be better quality though. For me, it's impossible to set aside time to get one done at home since I have my toddler with me and DH works irregular house. So, the pedi onboard is another way for me to relax and have some time for myself. ;)

Hmmm... a hot stone massage sounds nice. I've been trying to decide which treatment I want--this Wonder cruise is going to be a bit of an extra relaxation cruise for me, especially since we'll be coming from the parks to the ship. All the stress of vacationing at WDW!!! ;)

Anything anyone particularly recommends?
