I am posting this in serveral spots to get several points of view-what's yours?

OK-AGAINI am back to being not sure of where to stay. I am leary aobut staying off site when we go this time. (12-26 thru 1-2) and driving into the huge lines to get in to the parking lots! I think other time of the year it is no prbolem but we are going the BUSIEST WEEK Of THE YEAR-which in of itself scares me a bit. We have gone 2 other time in early August and it has been very crowded-so the whole busiest week of the year thing is a bit intimidating. We are going this week because of school/sports commitments and it is our kids surprise Christmas present this year and we are bringing my parents for their first visit ever. SO that being said I want this trip to be extra special (christmas/parents) I don't know if at this time of year it would be best to stay onsite for convience, tranportation etc but then decrease our accomadation size-help what do you think. We are considering DVC membership if we decide to stay on site so we would stay at SSR in a 2 bedroom suite-full kitchen, washer dryer, one bedroom with 2 queens for the kids-master for my parents (aren't we nice) and queen pull out for us.

I always think on site is better but it is without a doubt better during the holiday season. We were there last year and the year before during the time you describe. On quite a few days the parks were closed to all but WDW resort guests. There would be nothing worse than driving to the park and finding that you couldn't go.

There is nothing like a 2BR for a group of six. That's what we have and it sure beats two connecting rooms in space and price, especially during the holidays.

Just make sure something is available during New Year's week at SSR. Talk to your Guide about your plans before buying.

The way the points work Christmas Week uses the most points. Plus you would have to join real soon to have a chance at getting reservations at SSR, you already passed the 7 month mark. I trust you know members of SSR will be getting reservations 11 months out, so I would not hold out much hope for this Christmas Week but you never know. You might be able to get a 2 bedroom using your SSR points at OKW but again you are talking about the most demanding week of the year. Good Luck:D

I love being on site and the convenience of it all. Even staying at a downtown disney resort isn't as convenient (even though, I have done it several times, and I don't mind it).

I have to say, that aside from the transportation being worth it alone, I LOVE being able to have my purchases (and I buy a lot of STUFF I don't want to haul around, or even just back to the hotel), delivered to my hotel from the shops!

I vote for staying on-site too, but have to agree that Christmas week is getting pretty close for a lte ressie, especially for a t2 bedroom at SSR, where a lot of the new owners will be wanting to use their new points.
