My work has timeshare's available to all of their employees as a thank you for working there....and they recently bought some points at Peacock Suites :cool1: I was able to reserve a week in June (right after the opening of Carsland :scared1:) We usually only go for 2-4 days so having a whole week will be amazing :) Normally we stay across the street since we have two boys, 9 and 7, but I know that Peacock Suites is around the corner.

Has anyone stayed there? What are the rooms like? How is the walk? What is the best/least expensive way to get to and from the parks?

TIA!

My family has stayed there; it is nice. Clean, decent pool, breakfast room with muffins/juice/etc. There is a small store. Parking is tight! We had a family suite so two small rooms with a divider; basic kitchen stuff. It is not close enough to walk but ART picks up out front and is easy to use!

We stayed there this past fall. I had heard that they have some rooms being renovated. We didn't get one of those. The room we had was fine. It had two queen beds and in a separate room was a pull out couch. They weren't anything fancy but for the amount of time we were there for, it served its purpose. It is a block or two away. I did use the laundry facilities quite a bit. But I can't comment on the breakfast as we went to IHOP and Denny's for a big breakfast and then snacked at the parks for the day. We then went for good suppers. The staff was really great. The kids loved the pool. You'll like the hotel, but after staying across the street, I think you may be surprised at the distance. We walked it twice and it took about a half hour. The Garden Walk is close though so we went back at night and had supper there. We used the ART IMHO, a complete pain in the **** only for the fact that you cannot keep track of the schedule. I just kept reminding myself that staying for free (we had points gifted to us) we could deal with the transit.

Enjoy your trip!

We own with Shell Vacation Club the timeshare that owns Peacock Suites and have stayed there many times. We enjoy it. The rooms are ok, nothing special but they provide a microwave, frig, toaster, plates, utensils, and coffee maker. They have a continental breakfast (cereal, eggs, muffins, juice, coffee, milk, oatmeal). They provide BBQ's if you want to cook and a covered pool with hot tubs and a TV. Parking is valet only so you do have to pay. They are pretty quick on getting cars so we've never had to wait long.

As far as getting to the parks. It's about a mile walk to the gates. Long walk for the kids. I can't stand ART. I tried using the text feature last time and rushed out to make the next bus only to wait about 25 minutes for a bus. This last year we decided to buy a deluxe season pass for myself for free parking and discounts. We would just drive around the corner and down harbor a bit to the toy story lot, park and take the shuttles there. They run continuous and we have never had a wait at all. We found this to work the best for us. If you do take ART just know that you may be waiting 20 minutes or more for the bus and be ok with that.

You don't get free parking with the Deluxe AP, unless you add it. :) You get free parking with the Premium AP, if you add it to the Deluxe it's an additional $99. This year we had 1 Premium (for parking) and 3 Deluxe APs.

We own with Shell as well and honestly 90% of the reason we purchased with SVC was because of the Peacock. Not because it's a luxury resort, in fact it's not much more than the other area hotels, but because it's close to DL and we enjoy doing family vacation there at this time. Our plan was to use the Peacock until the girls got older and then start using other resorts as well. :) So far it's worked fine for us.

Peacock is a decent place to stay, they are in fact doing extensive renovations but at this time they are confined to the 3rd floor. There are not renovated rooms being rented at this time. The room you get will depend on what you booked, there are 3 room types available at the PS, none have a full kitchen or in room laundry facilities. They do have basic kitchen items, mini fridge, microwave, plates, utensils, but you have to wash them in the bathroom sink.....not ideal, we usually just grab (or take) some paper plates and use those instead. The staff at PS is good, they are pleasant and helpful, the valets are great, I think honestly, the valets are my favorite employees and they aren't hired by PS, PS contracts with a separate company for their valet services. :) Valet charge is $10 per day, it is mandatory, you have no choice, the lot is very small so they require you use the valet service. Also, make sure you won't have cleaning fees, they've begun to charge these to certain guests as well, we were charged a $35 housekeeping fee on our last visit because they said we had used our "2 free cleanings" when I asked why we had never been charged that on previous visits no matter how many times we'd stayed she simply stated "it's in your contract, you will have to look that up". Not very helpful but ok.......
The pool at the PS is small but it's nice, the kids love it, they have 2 hot tubs and there's a big TV out there as well, there's a small splash area for smaller kids with a dolphin that sprays water, there are vending machines, foosball tables, BBQ's and picnic tables, the pool and the BBQ area are both covered.
ART picks up right in front but we do not like ART at all. We avoid it whenever we can. We prefer to drive and park ourselves, when we don't have an AP with free parking we get park hoppers from AAA because they come with free parking. :) We like both the Toy Story lot and the M&F structure, we've used both with little issues. When DBF and I went without the kids we walked in the mornings, but we took a cab at night, it was just too far to walk at night after walking around the parks all day long......lol
the GW is a quick walk (or drive) around the corner from the PS, we like to walk there to grab dinner and we've seen movies there as well.

As this is a timeshare expect them to ask you to go to a presentation, as owners we are asked every time to attend an owner update. We go, get the free gift and head out. :) Last time we got $100 Disney Dollars to spend.

Thanks for all of the helpful information! Kerri~ Is watching the timeshare schpeal worth it? How much time will it take? We are never going to buy since I get the timeshare free through work, but a gift card would be nice...

It depends on whether or not you want the gift, it's not always Disney Dollars, sometimes they offer gift cards for Darden restaurants or even Best Buy. We got the BB gift cards once because we wanted to use them for Christmas gifts. :) They tell you 90 minutes, which is true mostly, if they are really wanting you to buy in they will try to keep you longer. I start watching the time as soon as we fill out the paperwork at the beginning and turn it in, only once we've been out in that time frame but as owners they really try to sell us more points, which we don't want, we own with both Shell and RCI so we have plenty of choices available to us timeshare wise. lol
