I'm not sure which is the better bridge to take to get to the Buffalo airport on Friday afternoon around 4:30pm.
Which one is closer to the airport? Which one is faster?
I'm coming from Toronto and we will be in hurry. We will be taking the 407 as far as we can (I can't remember where it ends) and hopefully we don't have too many traffic issues.
Your opinions are appreciated!

Usually the Peace Bridge is better. It's set up to handle a lot more traffic...more booths and therefore more movement. The Lewiston Queenston is usually the bridge that GPS and Map quest direct people to, but it only has around 6 booths? It can get CRAZY busy there...like a wait of up to 2 hours!!:scared1:

Print out directions to Fort Erie, then have a different set taking you from Fort Erie to the airport, just to bypass the default to the LQ.

Here is a phone number that you can call while on the road to get updated bridge info...they update on the hour, or half hour if it's busy...1 800 715 6722 press 2 for traffic conditions.

Oh and don't take the Rainbow, they are doing construction on the bridge. Down to one lane each way.

I just noticed we will be at Pop at the same time!! Love that place!!!

Peace Bridge...

Queenston will take much longer to get through and it's further from the airport.

Peacebridge for sure... it takes us 42min from the bridge to parking the care at the airport from our house..which is in Welland....and 20 min of the time is driving from our house to the border!!! Much quicker way..less traffic!!! You would then take QEW Fort Erie Exit and keep going , it turns into the bridge so you can't really go wrong!!

Echo Peace Bridge as well and underscore that your GPS will send you to Queenston. Once on the QEW just keep going and you will eventually be on the Peace Bridge! Turn the GPS on then; it is really easy to get to the airport as well...Good Luck!!!

One more vote for the Peace Bridge.
Missed the turn off for the I190 coming home.A little detour in downtown Buffalo to get back to the bridge

I agree on Peace Bridge. Both are approx same distance from Toronto. From Peace Bridge, there are no toll booths to the airport either.

Whenever we went to Buffalo for shopping we always crossed at the Lewiston–Queenston Bridge, although everyone I know says the Peace Bridge is a lot faster when going to the Buffalo Airport.

If you have a smartphone, you can browse to http://mobile.peacebridge.com/ for the up to date border wait time. As it turns out, rainbow is the winner most of the time. During the last long weekend, it had more than 10 booths open on the way down.

But be careful using this on your way back as data roaming charge may apply.

Rainbow may have had 10 open, but with only one lane open on the way across the bridge it gets VERY tricky all the way down to the bridge because of traffic bottle necking. Quicker, easier, less stress...Peace Bridge!!

Another vote for the Peace Bridge

Get instructions for both. There are a number of those digital highway signs enroute that will have the bridge wait times for both posted (I assume only if they are excessive) Traffic will definitely bottle neck around St. Catharines at that time of day due to the on-going QEW expansion but it clears up shortly thereafter.
