Has anyone used this for travel to WDW or anywhere else? It's essentially an portable, inflatable bed for a baby. The website and BabyTalk magazine say it's safe from birth+. My concern is SIDS. Are the nylon sides a SIDS risk, or am I being nutty about this? I'd like your thoughts b/c I'd love to try this for travel places so we don't have to take our Pack n Play (I know we don't have to for WDW, but I'm still curious about this)., but I'm ot sure about it safety-wise. Thanks! It can be found at kidco.com if you want to take a look.

I just saw this in a magazine and ordered one for our 7 mos old daughter. It came the other day. The bag it goes into is about 3" thick and maybe 6" long (circle). The first time folding it was a little tricky, but it says not to worry about really bending it as the frame wont break. It also says that it may need to be reshapened down the road. Set up and take down was fairly quick (it was faster to blow up the mattress by mouth vs pump). It hasnt been officially tried out yet, but I did stick my daughter in it and watched her for awhile. She likes to roll on her tummy to sleep now so I was a bit concerned. The mattress has a vinyl side and a fabric side, plus it slips into a pocket under the bed. Theres also a blanket that I laid under my daughter. I put the fabric side up facing my daughter (mattress and blanket). The blanket didnt move when she did, which is good. The sides are mesh so Im not too worried if she plants her face there like she does in the crib.

Overall the first time she sleeps in it I wont sleep much since I will want to check her constantly. Might be something to test out at nap time! For a baby whos not yet moving around I think it would be good. For one that can roll back and forth, same thing. But for a baby who is moving but not rolling, I might hold off until he/she can get out of a situation if need be. It will be a real joy to take this on trips vs lugging the big, heavy pack n play!

I just wanted to update on our Pea Pod experience. We used it the first time over the weekend. I was worried about the blanket sliding around since its slick on one side, and about the sides since my daughter rolls over and sleeps on her tummy. The blanket did slide a bit (would be nice if you could anchor it somehow-maybe some velcro??). She rolled over, but never had any issues with breathing/being smothered as the sides are thin. The only downfall is that if you put the child inside while shes asleep, chances are that when you go to zip it close, she will wake up as the zippers are loud. I had to zip it closed since she was rolling over (didnt want her to roll out). Overall though, it was great to travel with and easy to set up/break down.

Does anyone with a Peapod think it would be suitable for an 11 month old who's walking? I can't find an upper age limit anywhere...

TIA

The Peapod zips completely closed (the one side is like a U zipper and the ends have access). I dont think they can be opened from the inside. You can leave it unzipped for your child to go in and out. As with a crib/pack and play, if a child wants out, they will let you know :Pinkbounc I think any age can use it as long as they can fit in it.

Thank you.
:)

And one more question - light enough for international travel? What do you think.
