i want to know the room number also....
i have stayed at pb numerous times and have not seen this "light" of which
people speak..call me skeptical...

I'm sure the light exists, but was it that bad to really deserve the crying and comped room.

I know many times at RPR when we stay in tower 1 facing IOA the spotlight from the lighthouse shines in the room. But it normally shuts off after a certain amount of time after the parks close. Nothing the curtains can't handle.:thumbsup2

I'm not saying this is what happened to the OP, but I will take a stab.

They went to the parks for the first day and had an ok time. Then after being tired they return to the room at PBH and noticed the light in the room. They now have been to the parks with the benefits of staying onsite and see that instead of dealing with the light and spending the extra $400 for that one night, we can just go home and return the next day. So let's go down and complain. So when they don't give you the comp(only $50 off the room) and move you that night you get all worked up, start crying, and just leave. Then comes the next day.

Most people know that if you push the issue with any big company they will do anything to retain your business and have you return. After speaking with the manger, we don't know how long or what they told him how it should be solved, they end up with a different room for the next night and the first night comped. I'm sure the manager did not say right off the bat I'm comping the room with out the sad story of the long day, late night spotlight in my room, the crying while driving home for 5 minutes, to having to sleeping our own beds, oh the horror.

I'm not saying this is exactly what happened but pretty close, I could be wrong.:thumbsup2

My issue with the original post is that obviously if the person can find this forum to make a post about the issue, surely they can google the manager's name. I don't think the purpose of the post was to ask about who to call but instead to complain about Universal.

This.

I am personally heartbroken for the OP....

It must be tough to be brought to tears over such issues.

(((hugs)))

I can't imagine living like that... must suck

And I would still love to know the room number

room number please....

we know it was bay view at least....

i agree with another poster...how could a florida resident pay

400 a night?? ( i am a florida resident and have never paid close to

that...not even Thanksgiving day)

Children, children, children...

I'm so, soooo sorry that you felt I insulted your favorite resort.

Bluer, you're not even close. We didn't even go to the parks. We live locally and go to the parks all the time. When we stay at a local resort it's for the resort, not the parks. Overall we loved the resort, and are seriously considering doing it again in spite of the issues. It was only the customer service we found lacking.

DH was told that PBH was the most luxurious resort in Orlando and he wanted to plan a special weekend for us, so he booked 2 nights, Club Level King room with florida resident discount... $334 (with tax- $375 & change) per night. (Feel free to go check for yourselves now... I'm getting the same rate for this weekend, Sat - Mon, for "Club King Room" - only Garden view is $199/night).

We would have been happy to change rooms (ok, maybe not "happy" ... it was nearly midnight!), but to be told that not only could they not move us but they also didn't have any blackout curtains to hang, so our only options were to stay and not sleep or leave while still paying full price (the $50 discount was only offered if we agreed to stay and be moved the next day!)... not good customer service in my opinion.

As far as the room number, just search online for two pictures... one of the bay and one of the bay at night. Check out the spotlights mounted near the tops of the buildings. I know it's difficult to see placement on the night pictures, so compare with the day pictures. You'll see that the spotlights are mounted above the top floor guestroom windows.

You guys are all such good sleuths - find yourselves a room location map and locate any one of the rooms with the spotlights mounted above the windows, book it, and enjoy. :thumbsup2

(Oh, don't forget to ask them to remove the blackout curtains first... apparantly there had been some issue with the ones in our room causing them to be taken down? :confused3)

Oh, and the tears?

This was the first time DH had ever planned anything for us himself... EVER... and it was something romantic (!!!!!) ---- and at that time (midnight Saturday - stay and be exhausted & miserable from lack of sleep or pack up and leave time), it was ruined. ("Not only are we not gonna resolve the light issue, we're gonna keep all your money too!")

Yeah, it was upsetting. So shoot me. :upsidedow

This tidbit would have been *excellent* to mention in your update post. Could have gotten a lot of "ohhhhhh, I see" comments. But as I say to DH sometimes, "giving important information sarcastically, as though you think it was already known, isn't the best way to give info!"

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner.:thumbsup2

Well if they were not there than thats a problem, not a BIG problem, but still a problem.

Your right, but not to far off. You guys never went to the parks but checked in at 10am and returned at 11pm to find the problem.

Like another poster said, you post stuff on a message board for the whole world to see and never thought once that it could come of negative?:confused3

Either way in the end you got what you wanted and thats all that matters.:thumbsup2

No hard feelings.;)

I think this thread has run it's course and it's time to close it.
