PB&J in the parks that is NOT packaged Uncrustables?

My 9 year old is an adventurous eater, but my six year old practically lives off of PB&J and pasta. The prospect of him eating a week's worth of those Smuckers Uncrustables is not appealing. Is there anywhere in the parks (MK, EP, HS) that serves a real PB&J sandwich? A friend told me when she was there 2 years ago she scored a Mickey shaped PB&J somewhere in MK, but can't remember where.

If it were my son, I would just bring our own bread, PB, and J. But that's b/c Uncrustables are like poison to my guy, with the corn syrup, color, and HFCS. I would jump off a balcony from his behavior within two meals. So I would just bring my own stuff, or use the rental car, go to Whole Foods, and buy some safe ingredients for his PB&J there.

Even without the sensitivity, I'd likely do the same. You know how cheap those things are to buy in the parks, so why not just bring your own? Take a backpack cooler (love our Igloo MaxCold backpack cooler), have some frozen waters in there, some sandwiches, save some money on the non-buffet/AYCTE meals for the child!

This actually had not crossed my mind. All of the ingredients are shelf stable unopened, and we have a mini-fridge in the hotel room. Brilliant. We won't have a rental car (Magic Express-ing it)...anyone know if they sell loaves of bread in the sundries shop at Grand Floridian?

Yes to the bread. If not in the regular shop the DVC shops will. Also don't pack the Pbj in your carry on. They will get taken. Just double bag and check them.

I know that they have bread at both POR and POFQ shops.Check the GF Q&A thread on the Resort board on the DIS. It may have the info you need.

I am checking a bag at the airport with all different kinds of healthier snacks in the hopes of limiting the junk food eaten for the week. I plan on including a loaf of bread.

Why not get him pasta? That is likely to be at least somewhat high quality. I have never heard of a restaurant pretty much anywhere that had a "gourmet" PB.

You can always break up a loaf of bread and put the slices into smaller Tupperware type containers (thing dollar store ones). This would keep them from getting smooshed and you could check it in your luggage. Maybe count out how many you'd need/want.

Not sure what your kiddo was sensitive to, but to take less space an idea might be to get jam/ jelly packets, I know chick fil a has them here.

Also, as we are flying southwest we are planning on checking a bag with food and snacks, then returning with souvenirs. I am thinking of putting a loaf of bread in a box, maybe a shoe box to prevent smashes

Fantastic idea--thank you!
For the record-- I don't begrudge my kids the occasional Uncrustable, but even he complained after a few days when we last visited WDW.

For the amount of room that bread would take up in your checked bag and the fact it could get squished, I think buying the bread at the hotel is a better solution. Jif makes individual cups of peanut butter, which would be easier to use than a big jar. Also I am sure that somewhere you can find individual servings of jelly. This way you can take everything to the park separate and make a fresh sandwich when you need it.

Like others have suggested, making the PB&J s sandwiches is the best bet. :-) I make them for my kids to eat in the parks as well.
