So, I have been thinking about starting a PTR since I booked my trip to WDW. My friend in my office and fellow DISer, Rachael, has been encouraging me to start one since then as well. So here goes….

Here is the cast:

ME- My name is Lindsay and I am 32 years old. My daughter is a miracle child and my world. I have not been to WDW for 20 years, my last trip being when I was 12 with my parents and brother. We stayed at CBR and I loved it! My previous trips were with my wonderful aunt and uncle that have no kids. They felt that they could not go to WDW with out kids, so my brother and I lucked in 3 times. Every time we stayed off-site. I still remember those trips though. I am an obsessive planner for any trip that we go on, so you can imagine how out of control I am right now planning this one. So, any comments or suggestions are more than welcome! I want this trip to be as perfect as possible for DD birthday and so that DH will no be able to refuse an return trip.

DH – Craig is turning 39 on Aug.13th so this is a little bit of a birthday trip for him. Although, it will definitely be overshadowed by DD. This is his first trip to WDW. He did have a trip to Disneyland when he was 5yrs, but does not remember much. Boy, is he in for a shock! He still does not know what the big deal is with WDW…duh….but I will bring him around.

DD (the star of the show) – Payton is turning 7 on Aug 10th. This is her birthday trip. We would have liked to have spent her actual birthday in WDW, but we had to wait till after to get the free dining. She is the light of both our lives. We were told we would not be able to have kids, so she was both a surprise and a miracle. She is now completely obsessed with all things WDW and can’t wait to meet Belle (her favourite).

We will be in Disney arriving August 24th and leaving August 30th. Staying at POP with Free DDP.

Pictures to follow soon....

Great Start Linds, I"m really excited to read all about your out of control planning!!:lmao:

She is getting sooo excited about the trip!!princess:

A bit of background on the family and I. I have been trying to convince DH ever since my DD turned 2yrs to take her to WDW. I have been 4 times when I was a kid and wanted to share the magic with DD. DD is now turning 7 years and we are taking her on a birthday trip! My friend at work helped me almost everyday, pricing it out and coming up with suggestions on how to make the trip affordable. You see DH is all about saving and not spending money, so he was very hard to convince. I think that the turning point came when my brother came back with pictures of his trip in Feb with my SIL and their 2 girls ages 10 and 6. They had so much fun and not to be shown up by anyone in my family, he started to say we might be able to go. It was still a big maybe though. Then DD got on board, all she talked about was how she wanted to go to WDW for her birthday this year. Well, being Daddy’s little girl, DH was starting to weaken. Finally, with lots of help from my friend at work, I came up with a “vacation proposal” to him. I wrote it all up how with free dining we would be saving money, no we could not go exactly on their birthdays (DD is turning 7 on Aug 10th and DH is turning 39 on Aug 13th), but we could go in the August and celebrate their birthdays anyway. After all it is the year of celebrations right… Well, that did it, he finally said yes, go ahead and book it! Not wanting to wait for him to change his mind, I booked it 2 days later and paid in full so there was no going back…. Then came the issue of telling DD about the trip. DH and I decided that we would wait and tell her on her birthday that we were going. Well that didn’t last long. We held out for about 3 weeks before we told her… We decided it was time when my DD told me one night that she would give up eating until her birthday so I could save enough money on groceries to pay for a birthday trip to Disney. Well that brought tears to my eyes and after telling DH of this we decided that we would tell her. I wanted it to be something special, so I wrote up a letter from Cinderella inviting DD to come to WDW an have dinner at 1900 Park Fare on the first night of our stay so that she could meet her. Well, I have never seen her so happy. When DH read her the letter her moth fell open and by the time he finished the letter, we were both crying. Needless to say our house has been saturated in Disney ever sine that day and will continue to be right up to our trip. It is all she talks about.

Great updatepopcorn::

I love the photo of you and Dh... Payton is abosolutely adorable and wearing pink I noticed. You truly are going to make this trip special for your family.. :goodvibes

Now that we have the who and the how it is time for the what. Here is what I have planned for our trip so far:

August 24th - The Journey
We will be leaving Ottawa, Ontario, Canada at 6:00am. This means that I will have to be getting up at 3:00am. I have debated over whether I will get any sleep that night. It is like the old t.v. commercial “I’m too excited to sleep”. I’m really going to be too excited. We live about 20 minutes from the airport and I expect that we will get there at 4:00am for check in and in order to get through security on time. We will have a stop over in Washington. I am not sure how this is going to go as DH gets VERY airsick. He is not too bad once we hit cruising altitude, but the assent and decent are incredibly hard on him. Fortunately, DD is an incredible flyer, so he does not have to concentrate on taking care of her and can focus on keeping his breakfast down. We take off from Washington at 8:43am and will be arriving in Orlando at 10:50am. I can’t wait to get there.:yay: We will be taking the DME to WDW. Hopefully the road trip is not too much for DH after what is sure to be a trying flight. When we get to the resort I plan on taking a swim and checking out the grounds while waiting for my room to be ready. As soon as it is ready I will dump DH in the room to sleep it off and take DD to DTD for power shopping. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to eat a CS when we are in DTD ? I have ADR’s at 1900 Park Fare for 7:50pm. This is DD’s Celebration Birthday dinner. She has been wanting the step sisters to sing her Happy Birthday since she saw them do it for someone else on a U-Tube video. I really hope that they will. After dinner I am sure that we will be exhausted, so we will head back to POP for a much needed sleep. I just hope DD sleeps on the plane so she is not falling asleep at dinner.

August 25th - First Day in the Parks! Magic Kingdom
We are typically early risers at home and have not doubt that the same will happen when we are at WDW. So, this day is EMH at Epcot. I am still trying to decide if we should do this. I kinda want DD’d first park to be MK. She talks about Cinderella’s castle on a dialy basis and what it is going to be like to see it. I would really like for her first experience of WDW to be that castle. But, I also want to take advantage of the EMH as much as possible. Hmmm…. Well either way we will be spending the majority if not all of the day in MK. We are on the dining plan, so does anyone have a suggestion on where to go for a CS in MK? We have ADR’s for Tony’s Town Square at 6:05pm. I should also explain that I booked 2 TS meals for some of the days of the trip, but only plan on using 1 of them each day. The other that I have booked for this day is CRT at 1:05pm. I have mixed feelings about this. I booked it because I know that it is really hard to get and I did not want to take the chance of not getting a ADR for it if I changed my mind. I am just not sure if it is really worth using 2 TS credits.

August 26th - Epcot
This is our full Epcot day. I loved Epcot as a kid. I was even Figment for Halloween one year, so I am very excited to go back. EMH are for DHS in the morning this day, but I have no desire to take advantage of this one. I am very excited that I booked Chef’s de France for dinner at 5:50pm. This is the dinner that I picked to celebrate my DH’s birthday. I am really looking forward to the food there, but I am more excited to see the look on DH’d face when he finds out we are celebrating his birthday. He has no idea. But I know that he is going to love it.

August 27th - Another MK day.
This day there are EMH in MK, so I will be taking advantage of this. We will be up early and hitting the park for the full day. I have ADR’s for Crystal Palace at 4:35pm for an early dinner. I am very excited that DD is going to meet Pooh, he nickname at home is Pooh Bear, so she thinks this is really cool.

August 28th - this is a split day between AK and DHS
We are hitting AK in the morning, so I am hoping that it wont be too hot for the animals to be out. DD is a huge animal lover and DH is obsessed with elephants. I have a feeling that this is going to be DH’s favorite park. We have lunch ADR’s for Tusker House at 1:40pm. When lunch is over we will finish up what we want to get done there and then head over to DHS. I do have and ADR for 5:00pm at Hollywood and Vine, and I am still debating on wether to use the Tusker House lunch or the Hollywood and Vine ADR. Any opinions? EMH are at Epcot this night so, if we are up to it, we may head over there before heading back to the resort for bed.

August 29th - Another split day Epcot and DHS
We are heading to Epcot in the morning. I booked the Princess Storybook Lunch this day. DD is so excited about meeting the princesses. She is still having a hard time deciding if they are real or not, so I can’t wait to see the look on her little face when she realizes that they are not robots, but real people. We will head over to DHS in the afternoon if there is more there that we want to do. I have to say that this was not my favorite as a kid (MGM back then) but who knows I may feel differently this time. I do also have a ADR for Garden Grill at 5:30pm, but really there is not way that I will give up the PSBL and the opportunity for DD to meet the princesses. We will probably not take advantage of the EMH at AK this night, but we will see how it goes at DHS. The only thing that is drawing me back there is Fantasmic is this night and I would like to see it, I have heard such great things.

August 30th - Our last day at WDW
We do not have a park today. I made a ADR for 1900 Park Fare again. This time for breakfast at 8:00am. DD loves Mary Poppins (all musicals actually) so I really wanted her to have this one. This is the meal that DH and I will be celebrating out 10 year anniversary. I had to give up a trip to somewhere south to renew my vows, so that we could take DD to WDW for her birthday. So, I wanted to at least celebrate it in some way and the last TS meal seemed like a good one. After lunch I plan on going to DTD for the last day shopping extreavaganza. We have out flight at 6:30pm and will arrive back in Ottawa at 11:00pm. I am sure that I will cry…..

Well that is a general overview of the itinerary for the trip. I will get into what we want to do at each park in the next posts. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Travel Day, I love the thought of you dumping DH off in the room to sleep and taking DD for some power shopping...:lmao: Even if it's because he's sick.. i think spending some time with DD will be really special. I suggest you try Earl of Sandwhich while at DTD.. it's delicious!!!

As for having the step sisters sing her happy birthday... possibly mention it to the CM that check's yous in??

ohhh Day 1 in the parks.. I completely understand why you would want DD to experience MK first... this is a tuff one..especially if she's just so excited to see it.

hmmm.. I suggests trying to stick to 1 CS and 1 TS per day.

Day 2 in the parks... Epcot. One Dbf's favorite park. Does DH know that you will be celebrating his birthday at Chef's de France? I guess " he has no clue" answers my question. OH... I think that is so sweet and thoughtfull of you to plan both brithdays.. :cutie: I hope he loves it too!!!!

I lOVE, LOVE AK... it's absolutely beautiful. I had no idea that DH is obsessed with elephants.. I really hope he gets to see some. I guess between the Tusker House and Hollywood and Vine.. I think most people would suggest to keep the Hollywood and Vine and just have a CS at the pizza place in AK.. but i can't think of it's name... Wow.. even a possibility of heading over to Epcot.. i'm impressed.. Your doing such a great job at planning. Your family is going to have an amazing time!!

Where's the garden grill? :confused3 You MUST see Fantansmic at least once in my opinion:flower3:

You will cry.. I cry each time on the DME on the way back to the airport. I really hope at the end of this trip you truly feel you made the right decision giving up your vow renewal for WDW (if you dont already, we haven't talked about it)!!!

Great planning so far.. popcorn::

P.S. I"m having some MAJOR font issues during this post!! sorry.

DD has decided that instead of just getting a pretty dress from home she will get a princess dress in DTD when we get there and wear that for the first nights dinner. princess: I hope she picks Cinderella, but it will probably be Belle. She is definatley going to just ask what ever step-sister come to the table first to sing to her, DD is not shy when it comes to these things. How can they refuse?

ohhh Day 1 in the parks.. I completely understand why you would want DD to experience MK first... this is a tuff one..especially if she's just so excited to see it.

hmmm.. I suggests trying to stick to 1 CS and 1 TS per day.

The decision has been made. We will forgo the EMH the first day and just head to MK for the rope drop the first day. I really want the first experience to be seeing the castle she has been dreaming about.

I have also decided to cancel the ADR for CRT. It is just not worth it to us. She will be seeing Cinderella the first night and we don't have to give up 2TS credits to do it.

Day 2 in the parks... Epcot. One Dbf's favorite park. Does DH know that you will be celebrating his birthday at Chef's de France? I guess " he has no clue" answers my question. OH... It will definately be interesting, DH is really shy and definatley does not like to be the center of attention. But, I still think that he will enjoy it and DD will get a kick out of us celebrating Daddy's b-day too.

I am really thinking about keeping that Hollywood and Vine now. When I first booked the Tusker House I thought that it ws a Character Meal, I did not realize that it was only for the breakfast. :sad2: Alot of the credit in my planning should go to you and all the help you have given me while I bounce ideas off you at work. Our co-workers must think that we are crazy with all of our coded Dis talk. :rotfl2:

I just wanted to put in a quick update. I am a little depressed at the moment. DH suprised me recently with the new luggage that I have wanted for quite some time. It was really sweet and I loved it. Totally out a character for him to get it without me being there. Unfortunately, I really shoudl have been there. It seems that he did not look over the luggage set very well and we dicovered that there was a huge rip in the bottom of one of the bags. :sad1: It was a 4 piece set , so all the pieces had to go back to the store together. Worst of all they didn't have any of the 4 pc sets left. So I am back to no luggage again. :sad2: I did find a set that I like at Walmart that is not as good of a deal as the first set, but it is ok. I really want a pick set, but I think that I may have to settle for my second choice of brown. Just as long as I get it soon, I can't wait to start packing!:goodvibes
I did test pack my day bags to make sure that everything that I wanted to take with me would fit and that they were not too heavy. Good news everything fit perfect and I still have some room left over for whatever I am forgetting.;)

I'm in!!!!

I also loveee to test pack. My parents and my brother could careless about packing lists or test packing so I'm still trying to figure that one out but it could be the "organization teacher" type in my which they are not!!!

Can't wait to read more and see more pics!!!

I am so glad that you are here! :welcome: I was begining to wonder if only Racheal was following along! I am getting closer to the 30 day countdown, so i will be posting a lot more pictures in the coming days. thanks for joining and let me know if you have any suggestions for me, i am still new at all of this.:woohoo:

Thats good decisions... :cloud9: Make sure you get her reaction to seeing the castle for the very first time...

I have also decided to cancel the ADR for CRT. It is just not worth it to us. She will be seeing Cinderella the first night and we don't have to give up 2TS credits to do it.:

:thumbsup2 You def. have to do what works best for you family and your trip!!!

It will definately be interesting, DH is really shy and definatley does not like to be the center of attention. But, I still think that he will enjoy it and DD will get a kick out of us celebrating Daddy's b-day too.:

:yay: I'm exciting to find out what he thought of his bday celebrations..I'm sure he'll appreciate it.. there's nothing like it... it's a once in a lifetime experience.. it's good for DD to see too!!

I am really thinking about keeping that Hollywood and Vine now. WOW.. I didn't realize it was ONLY a character meal for breakfast...hmm... I dont really think the restaurant is worth it without the characters...I vote to cancel. :sad2:

Awww..thanks Linds, crazy or not. I LOVE, Love Dis!!

Test packed....:lmao: I laughed so hard when i read you were doing this..

Ohh.. that is so sad about your luggage, that was such a sweet gesture from DH. Let us know if/when you get news one.:):goodvibes

Hi!

Just found your PTR and I'm in!
First of all, you and DH make a great couple! And your daughter is so cute! She is going to be thrilled and overwhelm with the dress choice. I am every time I go to DTD...:rotfl2: and I'm to 7 yrs old! I don't know if I miss this but does she have a favorite princess?

Looking at your plans, I figured we will be playing hide and seek with each other. I'm going from 26th-30th but the day you are at MK I'll be at DHS, etc. :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear more!

I missed this! OMG, I'm kind of freak planner, let say more OCD than anything, but I've never done this before:rotfl::rotfl2:...

I'm following along!!! DD is adorable!!! I had the chills when you told her she was going to Disney for her birthday!! So sweet!!! Have you thought of taking her to BBB? I'm sure she would get a kick out of that!!!

Welcome and thanks for joining in. I have been really bad at updating in the last little while :blush:but with only 2 1/2 weeks left, I have promised myself and DD that we will try and post something everyday.
Her favorite princess is Belle, but the night that she wants to dress up for is our dinner at 1900 Park Fare, so she will be meeting Cinderella. I am excited and curious to see which one she will pick. I like the Giselle wedding dress, but what do I know, I'm just Mom.:lmao:
Where are you staying when you are there?
