i have a ressie with dollar, midsize, 6 days beginning of june for $266.
now i see payless, same size car, same dates for $155.

please tell me...what is your experience with payless? does their shuttle run frequently? did you have problems with any aspect of the pick-up? rental? return?

$111 is a lot of money to save, but i suppose not worth it if it's going to bring me a headache.

thx,
dj

good luck with payless!!!

I reserved an Accord sized car on my first trip to WDW and when I got there they gave it away, and made me pay for an upgrade to a Durango, twice the price of what i paid for. So I had my Credit Card reverse the charges back to the original price.

The shuttle runs regularly, if they have your car the good luck the Durango was great but the extra 30 in gas was not.

I had the opposite experience with Payless in Las Vegas last week. The only issue was the line was slow, but well worth a $300 savings. The car was clean and charges were as expected. If you have a car reserved, they have to honor that reservation. Sounds like PP went for the upsell that many agents at nearly all of the rental car agencies attempt.

Payless asked me how I planned to insure the car. I brought along my policy from home and they entered my company into their computer. It is good to have proof. The asked if I wanted their insurance and I declined.

The one thing they will automatically add on is $2.99 per day for roadside assistance. You can decline it, which I did, but the agent had automatically added it. I had read to look for the charge and it was mixed in with all of the lines I was initialing declining insurance. In the end, I had it removed and the charge was exactly as quoted.

I personally would have no problem booking them, though I would prefer to use National or Alamo for thier quicker service (I am a member of Emerald Club with National).

that's awful! that really stinks when you are expecting/needing a certain type of car.

there'll only be 2 of us (and my scooter) so anything midsized or larger will meet our needs. plus, i'm making the reservation through http://www.carrentalsavers.com/florida-car-rental.html which is my "go to" website for the best car rental rates. (i even use the florida page of this site for ressies outside of florida and get great rates.) it's operated by travelocity, and if ever a company tries to charge me more than what the reservation says, travelocity makes good on it.

so i'm more worried about issues other than being overcharged. like do they run out of cars without offering a replacement? are cars filthy? do they have mechanical issues? does their shuttle only run once every half hour? do they over scrutinize about body damage and charge for minor blemishes which were there beforehand? etc.

i wonder if the mco location is comparable to the one in las vegas. and thanks for the heads up about the hidden charges. if i go with them i'll watch for that and will have my insurance card. do you think that's enough proof and no need to bring actual policy?

They do not have the right to up your rate "randomly" or just because they ran out of your car size. Except if you are tardy and they cancel your reservation, or if you want to pick up a car early (happened to me; I just waited for my appointed time), or if you created some irregularity.

Payless is one of a few companies that reserve the right not to rent to you if you do not show proof of insurance (on a car you own back at home) and also decline their coverages even if your credit card would cover.

Payless is actually on the way (as opposed to out of your way) when you are headed to Disney.

I have used Payless on several occasions, last in 2005, and had no problems.

Payless is located on Frontage Rd. at upper right of the picture. (North airport exit, left at first light.)
When driving out of their lot to Disney, go west (right) right instead of their suggested left.

Which is why I won't use them... I have a credit card that is primary. I REFUSE to allow them to have my insurance info. They don't need it and I don't want the claim on the insurance.

To the OP with the scooter I would try to stay at the airport. If not be sure to allow lots of extra time for them to mess around reloading you etc when you return!

I used Payless in Sept. You need to call the shuttle when you arrive at the airport. The phone is by the other rental car places. The shuttle came in about 5 minutes. Our flight did arrive around 8PM so that may have made a difference because there were not alot of other flights arriving. The shuttle after I turned the car in was no problem as well.
