paying Target Red Card bill w. Disney Visa

If we purchase Disney gift cards at Target to get the 5% off using our Red Card credit card, can we use our Chase Disney Visa to pay the Red Card bill when it comes? We were told at Target that as long as the card we use to pay the bill doesn't have a security chip, we can use it to pay off the bill. (Since the Red Card does have a chip and must be inserted into the card terminal when making a payment on the account)

My thinking is that we not only save $250 on a $5,000 trip with the 5% discount, but also earn roughly another $50 gift card by paying off the Target bill with the Disney Visa. Has anyone done this?

Sidebar: we booked through a AAA since they offered a $50 Disney gift card if we booked in January. Can you make payments directly to Disney using the gift cards even if booked through AAA? If not, that might be a reason to cancel and rebook directly with Disney.

Thanks!

Well disney visa's now should all come with a chip, but there is a chance you're one without it. They should be able to process the payment even with a chip card, all cards are going to have chips in the future so how could you pay your bill otherwise except with cash, which isn't always realistic for someone who's in the store and wants to pay there bill now.
That just sounds weird, i don't have any cards without a chip now, good to know i can't pay my bill in store if thats the case.

When you say "we were told at Target", that just makes me cringe. If it turns out to be true, I would be very surprised.
I hope it works for you. Please keep us updated.

I have never heard of a credit card that lets you pay the bill using another credit card as a form of payment....

Keep us posted if this works...

In general you can't pay a credit card with another credit card. I have heard of a balance transfer from one to the other.

The best deal going was the US Mint who used to let you buy one dollar coins with your credit card and they had free shipping. I'm sure the bank tellers loved that when people would wheel in thousands of dollars in coins still in the shipping boxes and then deposit them. However so many people caught on the US Mint shut it down.

You could never pay any credit card with another credit card. (Wouldn't it be interesting if you could)

At Target there was a glitch (now fixed) where the chip card reader read debit cards with chips as credit cards. So people who were used to paying their red card with their debit card were having problems when their bank issued them a chip-enabled debit card.

Now that the glitch is fixed, customers can pay their Red Card at the service desk with their debit card (whether it has a chip or not)

But at no point could you ever pay your red card bill with a credit card of any kind.

Its might be possible, but the only option i can think of will add 2.5% fee... may or may not be worth it.

It is not possible. I work there, at the service desk where people make Red Card payments.

You can pay your Red Card by cash, check, or debit card. That's it.

its more of paying with your red bird card, then using a service like Plastiq that charges 2.5% of the transaction, make a charge with the visa card and paying someone close to you, then use that money to pay your red bird card...
