I've done some searching on the boards and can't figure this out. We booked resort only (have leftover park hoppers so we don't need tickets). The credit card paid the deposit, but is there a way we can send money each month to pay off the rest before we arrive?

I'm not so good at saving money on my own - it would be much easier to send it to them when I have it! Otherwise I'll be out buying stuff I don't need at Target :flower:

Sorry, they no longer allow prepays on room only. Why not take the money and get a VISA or AMEX card from your bank. Than you can add to it each month, only leaving the house with it to go to the bank. This way, it will be like prepaid, as you can just turn over the card at check in.

I disagree. We are going room only with a separate ticket purchase and we pre paid our trip. We called our travel agent and made a payment and it was very easy.

My understanding is that you could only pay one nights deposit for room only stays that were booked with the Best Rate Program that gave you AP discount.

I am unclear as to whether it still applies, either to non AP room only reservations or with the new non Best Rate AP code that has come out. Maybe someone will come along who knows the definitive answer.

I recently booked a room only for 4/29 thru 5/7, which is after the current AP discount period, and the confirmation I received says I can make prepayments on the internet, by mail, or by phone. I made my one night deposit in December and made another payment by phone last week.

Thanks for the replies - what is an AP? I never use a travel agent and do it all on my own. I like the idea of a pre paid card. Or, I can do the right thing and just give the $$ to my parents to hold for me. Even though I'm 31 !!! LOL

Does anyone know if $$ can be added to a rewards card or is that just all points?

An AP is an Annual Pass; a "season ticket" so to speak.

If you book ONLINE whether it be through the Passholder site or through the Florida resident site or regular website for ROOM ONLY. You can ONLY make one nights deposit when you book the reservation and the rest MUST be paid at checkin.

If you book through a travel agent or over the phone with CRO yourself for a ROOM ONLY reservation, you can make as many payments as you wish ahead of time. You can even pay MORE than your room amount to have a credit on your account for room charging, meals, etc.

Now if you book a PACKAGE online or any other way, the rules are $200 deposit and the balance due 45 days in advance.

I hope this explains everything.

Carol, Have you been able to do this recently because I remember reading about people who said that Disney credited them back any overpayments on their reservations?

I had not read that. That may be true. The only thing I've read about crediting payments, was when folks who made online Room only reservations tried to pay their account in full over the phone and their extra payments were refunded.

This isn't true, I just paid my room is full and I have a room only reservation under a Florida resident discount. I booked it the other day and then called back the next day and paid the room in full without any problems. When you call the reservation line it says to press 6 for payments only and you go to the department that will take your information.
Since they did away with the AP best rate program you can now book a room with the AP discount on the phone just like you used to be able to. I didn't book online with my FL resident rate or AP rate because that's a 45 day cancellation policy but when you call it's a 6 day cancellation policy. Until they change it the AP discount is slightly better than the Fl resident discount but not by much.

That's not correct. I booked a room and paid for it in full on December 24th. Our trip is next month.

I always pay my reservation off in full prior to arrival. As far as I know the only exception to this was the "Best Rate Program" a discount for Annualpassholders that has been discontinued or a package.

I have a room only reservation booked online for February and sent my payment to the address on the confirmation I received. On the back it has the address and instructions on making payments. I write a small letter with my dates and reservation # and then put my ress # and my dates on the memo portion of the check.

I have also overpaid a slight amount when miscalculating tax and did not have it refunded but made sure to charge a few things to the room instead.

The posts I read about having funds returned were those sent by AP holders who used the BRP and that as I said is discontinued.

how do you usally pay though. is the money (100% of it) not just due when you get there? I HOPE SO :)

I usually pay via personal check ahead of time because I don't like to come home from vacation to a big charge card bill.

Depending on your booking yes, usually you pay the balance at checkin via cash, check or credit card. If you have a package or use a TA your balance "could" be due 45 days prior to arrival.

You should receive a confirmation via mail or the e-mail if you booked online. Read it carefuly to see what your options are as well as cancellation options or penalties.
