This next trip we are taking is the first package that we are doing - we've always done "room only". DH and I decided that we wanted to do DDE. My question is do we have to pay off the whole trip 45 days out? Or can it be done at check out? With our room only we would pay the $200 deposit, make a couple nominal payments then pay the balance at checkout. Can someone please explain this to me? Thanks.

You have to pay your package IN FULL at 45-60 days out.. I can't remember which, but I think it's 45.

You pay in full at 45 days out, and then cancellation and change penalties start at that time. The difference also between a package and room-only, if you need to leave the trip (and you don't have some sort of coverage), you can lose the rest of your trip value, except if you add the non-exp option to your tickets. With room-only, I've never seen anyone get charged for an unused room if they leave early.

If you don't pay in full at 45 days, your reservation will eventually cancel (usually closer to 39 days, but there is no guarantee). I'd expect if that happens under 45 days, they will automatically take the $100.00 cancellation fee.
