I did this and I did have to cancel. The funds went back to the original gift card.
BiLo also has the same promotion, .05 per $50 spent. I plan to buy the gift cards on my Disney Visa to get the points and get discounted gas for the drive to Orlando.

I am not sure if this will work. But I bought $200 gift card from Disney shopping. I did not pay shipping. I am hoping to get a rebate thru e b a t e s. right now the discount is 5%. I read the exclusions. Technically the only exclusions are park tickets.
I have a Kroger but no gas station. So I could not go that route. Does anyone have any other ideas?

so I will save you all this pleasure of thinking it lol lol lol... but ....
Wait, so you can't use Disney gift cards towards part tickets?
That is what I would want them for!

Can you pay for your package or room only with the gift cards over the phone?
Not sure about room only.
I have started to pay my trip in October off in increments based on budget, etc, and I was wondering. Giant Eagle has Disney Gift Cards for sale, which I believe can be used in park, to purchase trips, etc. By buying the $50 card, I get $.20 off a gallon of gas (up to 30 gallons) and for a trip such as this, I could save over $7 in gas, which is like 3 full tanks free
My question is, if for some reason the trip had to be canceled (words no DISer wants to hear), how would Disney refund it? Back to a gift card, a check, etc?
Thanks
Bill
Is Giant Eagle the same as the Giant/Martins Food stores? Where else besides Kroger can I purchase Disney gift cards (other than online).
Sounds like a great idea with one minor exception...
...the grocery business (with the exception of Walmart, SuperTarget, and others) is largely regional, which means the only fill-up you will get at Giant Eagle will most likely be near where you live, since they do not operate in the South and Florida).
As for Kroger, even though they are a huge grocer, you won't find them in Florida, either (the only big grocers selling gas in Florida are Publix and Walmart).

I know for sure you can pay for a package with a gift card. Not sure about room only.
I also know for sure if you pay with a gift card/cards and you have to cancel, the ONLY way Disney will refund you the money is back on the original gift card.![]()

On a slightly different note... does anyone know what can be bought with the giftcards? I am also saving for a trip in 2011. I can buy the cards at Kroger and save on the gas, but I want to know if I'll be able to use the cards for souvenirs, meals, and that sort of thing within the parks themselves.
I think it will be nice to be able to pick up a gift card here and there to supplement the trip. But I don't want to wind up with a bunch of giftcards that can't be used at many places.
If anyone has had experience with this, I'd appreciate the information!
Thank you!

Can you use gift cards for dining at on site hotels?
