Paying for the trip with Disney Gift Cards

I did this and I did have to cancel. The funds went back to the original gift card.

Wait, so you can't use Disney gift cards towards part tickets?

That is what I would want them for!

I am not sure if this will work. But I bought $200 gift card from Disney shopping. I did not pay shipping. I am hoping to get a rebate thru e b a t e s. right now the discount is 5%. I read the exclusions. Technically the only exclusions are park tickets.

I have a Kroger but no gas station. So I could not go that route. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Oh man, I was excited to see this until I saw that not all Shell stations participate. The Shell station that does participate is a full .20 more per gallon on average than the one 5 miles south (and closer to us!) across the state line.

That isn't a savings.

Darn.

BiLo also has the same promotion, .05 per $50 spent. I plan to buy the gift cards on my Disney Visa to get the points and get discounted gas for the drive to Orlando.

Hi groupies! Okay so I want to choke myself right now :confused3 so I will save you all this pleasure of thinking it lol lol lol... but ....

I am confused. Let me explain my situation, (and I promise I did read all the posts to see if I can apply the knowledge to me) but I still need more help. I am desperate to come to Disney and do a Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party... I cannot make it this October since I just started trying to put it together so I am full force throttle for one of the parties in October 2011.

I want to start saving for this trip and in lieu of keeping cash in my savings account or an account that I can "touch" ... I wanted to start paying towards my trip now at like $200 per month. Is there such a card that I can purchase for disney and just keep adding increments to? Or do you have to buy multiple denominations of cards?

Next, these cards that are being purchased at Kroger (?) how do you save the money on gas fill ups? Does that specific Kroger have its own gas station or is it off of a different credit card you must have?

Does someone have a fool proof plan to save for this trip? I am not thinking clearly, I also have thought of purchasing my tickets as I go ...like save up 2 months and buy a 5 day MYW ticket for me ... then next two months buy my daughters ... I stay off site at a timeshare so then Ive got to have money for either the flight for the two of us round trip or .... to rent a car and have gas money.

What would you do? :grouphug:

It looks like Kroger (here in Cincinnati)... maybe in other locations is running a deal - purchase a disney gift card multipack ($50??) get $5 coupon off your next order of groceries.

So, lets say I order $100 in GC (in two seperate orders) for incidentals and souveniers for my April trip. I should get $10 off my next order and if I use my Kroger card - I should be able to get $0.10 off a fuel fill up in May.

Not too shabby - for $$ I would've been spending anyhoo.

Sorry I confused you. I meant that the to get "money back rebate" from e b a t e s. It said the only exclusion was purchase of park tickets. You should be able to use gift cards towards park tickets.

Can you pay for your package or room only with the gift cards over the phone?

I know for sure you can pay for a package with a gift card.:) Not sure about room only.
I also know for sure if you pay with a gift card/cards and you have to cancel, the ONLY way Disney will refund you the money is back on the original gift card. :)

I have started to pay my trip in October off in increments based on budget, etc, and I was wondering. Giant Eagle has Disney Gift Cards for sale, which I believe can be used in park, to purchase trips, etc. By buying the $50 card, I get $.20 off a gallon of gas (up to 30 gallons) and for a trip such as this, I could save over $7 in gas, which is like 3 full tanks free

My question is, if for some reason the trip had to be canceled (words no DISer wants to hear), how would Disney refund it? Back to a gift card, a check, etc?

Thanks
Bill

Sounds like a great idea with one minor exception...

...the grocery business (with the exception of Walmart, SuperTarget, and others) is largely regional, which means the only fill-up you will get at Giant Eagle will most likely be near where you live, since they do not operate in the South and Florida).

As for Kroger, even though they are a huge grocer, you won't find them in Florida, either (the only big grocers selling gas in Florida are Publix and Walmart's "Neighborhood Market").

Is Giant Eagle the same as the Giant/Martins Food stores? Where else besides Kroger can I purchase Disney gift cards (other than online).

I believe the nation's 3 biggest drug chains may be selling them, too.

I don't think the OP was planning on purchasing the gift cards/gas cards IN Florida. I believe she is currently doing that now and buying Disney Gift cards to use FOR Disney.
So the locations of where Giant Eagle and/or Kroger are do not make any difference to her plans.

On a slightly different note... does anyone know what can be bought with the giftcards? I am also saving for a trip in 2011. I can buy the cards at Kroger and save on the gas, but I want to know if I'll be able to use the cards for souvenirs, meals, and that sort of thing within the parks themselves.

I think it will be nice to be able to pick up a gift card here and there to supplement the trip. But I don't want to wind up with a bunch of giftcards that can't be used at many places.:confused3

If anyone has had experience with this, I'd appreciate the information!

Thank you!

You can use them on just about anything. I believe there are a few places in the World Showcase that do not accept them. Trex and the Rainforest Cafe also do not accept them. But you can use them to pay for food, merchandise, tickets and even towards your hotel/package. :)

If you are staying on-site and they won't take a WDW GC ask if they will charge to your room, if yes, then charge your item to your room then when you get back to your resort, go to the front desk and pay off the room charge with the GC - you can also do this with Disney Dollars.

OTH - There are a few kiosk places that do not accept them - simply because they don't have a credit/gift card reader. They also can't charge to your room or take DDP credits. There are only a few of them that don't take cards because WDW is pushing the charge to your room and DDP as one of the benefits of staying on-site.

Can you use gift cards for dining at on site hotels?

Yes. You can use them at any place that is owned by Disney or has an agreement to accept Disney money. The only place I've found that I couldn't use them was at some of the food serive carts outside. If they don't have a machine to swipe your card they can't take them (they can't take CC either). As a pp said there are a few non-Disney run restaurants and stores that don't take them but they are in the minority.
