Paying for the DDP

We are DVC members and when I go to add DDP to our stay, it says I have to pay by credit card now. If I enter my credit card, does anyone know if I can pay by a different method upon check in?

Like If I wanted to pay cash for it, I can't do that online.

You have to pay in advance, you can't pay at check-in. The charge would have already gone through. I would suggest buying a gift card and using that online or by phone.

It is paid in full at the time of purchase. You do have up until 48 hours prior to arrival to purchase it though.

I never understand these questions....it is soooooo easy to pay credit card bills online/apps/phone etc. So just put it on your credit card and as soon as the charge posts, pay the bill. The only issue I see is if you don't have a high enough credit limit, but I can't imagine that would be an issue for most people going to Disney.

Because I want to pay cash.

Because some of us just don't trust the systems that take our cc info. Look at what happened with Target, and that was using cards in the store. Security has not kept up with use. The fact that it is sooooooo easy also means it is sooooo easy for someone else to get that info and ruin your credit.

Do you want to hear something really scary? Probably not, but I'll tell you anyway.

On our last three weeklong trips we rented points from a lovely DVC owner I found here on the Disboards. Last year, we added the DDP. The DVC owner paid for it with his own credit card after we sent him a check. So we go to check in, and the CM asks whether we want to put our room charges on the Mastercard on file.

Wait...what? We don't have a Mastercard (only Visa and AmEx).

It turns out, that when the DVC owner paid for our dining plan, somehow HIS credit card got associated with our MDE account, even though I'd checked in online and put my Visa information in there. He even told them not to associate his card with our room charge privileges, but it somehow still got linked to our account. Luckily, I caught it and had them put our Visa info back in there, and then I called him to let him know what happened ASAP in case he'd rented to anyone else. It was crazy and shocking and scary.

(I did post about this on the DVC boards so other owners would be aware of this possible issue.)

As previous poster suggested, getting a gift card and using that is probably you best bet if you do not wish to use a CC.
