Unfortunately you can’t save a DGC as a payment method in MDE, only credit cards and Disney Visa Rewards cards. You have to save the relevant numbers for a DGC as a note on your phone and copy and paste them when paying for LLs. There’s an extra step involved where you tell MDE not to use one of the saved methods, but I can’t remember the details.

Yeah if you go to the payment method section it indeed is only for credit card/debit card/rewards redemption card. I had that wrong.
I was also thinking about when mobile ordering I think now it may allow you to save your gift card as a payment method but yes the above poster had correct info I believe about doing it with Lightning Lane.

I wasn’t sure, so I just looked in my MDE app and tapped where it said Add a Payment Method, and the only options were CC (or debit card) or DV Rewards card.

Disney Visa credit cards earn rewards dollars as a certain percentage of purchases. Those dollars can be loaded onto a Rewards Card that then functions just like a DGC most of the time, but recently gained the benefit of being saved in MDE as a payment method.

Yes, there’s a place to enter the DGC information. I believe you first have to check something that indicates you’re using an alternate payment method, then it opens a place for the DGC information. Many of us save the DGC information in a note on our phones so that we can quickly copy and paste it.

I have used a GC, but I don't do it often enough to remember how, so it is always a bit confusing for me. The app shows my saved credit card as a default, I think I have to tap on that first in order to enter something different

Yes, they have to be entered manually at the end of LL purchase.

I just did it yesterday for LLMP. On the payment page is an option for other payments, including DGC. That opens a new page where you put your DGC. Recommended method is to put the info in a note on your phone so you can copy paste. (Not only is this quicker but it prevents you from typing in the wrong security code multiple times which can freeze your gift card.)

After you input the DGC wait a couple seconds and an option to remove the additional/other payment method will pop up. Click that if your DGC covers the purchase in full to remove the cc/debit option (the system is too stupid to realise it), then your can finish your purchase.

It sounds like a lot but it’s actually pretty easy.

To add to the description from @gottalovepluto. On the Add Gift Card pop-up there is a field to enter that GC value, and look further down the screen, and you should see the Remove Credit Card Payment link Click it, and then the Continue button will be active.
