Paying for DVC as a Canadian

Hello! About to become members in the next week or so, buying SSR points directly from Disney. Chose to finance independently through our own bank rather than with Disney. Our guide said we can give the down payment by credit card to get the paperwork started but I'm wondering how you usually give the remainder? Will they let me charge that much on credit card? Or will we have to mail a bank draft or something? Thanks in advance! Excited to join you

Disney will let you charge the whole thing. But you might have to worry about foreign transaction charges from your bank. And the financing bank may have some direct payment requirements.

Also, why are you buying SSR direct? Resale is something like $60/point less. If you already have financing set up, the only reason to buy direct would be if you were adding on a 25 point contract.

Okay that's good to know - thank you! I think we're going to get charged a 2.5% exchange fee regardless of what method we pay, might as well get points for it.

I second Supersnoop's opinion about looking into resale, especially with our CDN$ exchange rate being what it is versus the USD$ right now. If you have financing arranged through your bank, can't you use that to pay for a resale contract at half the price? There is pretty much zero advantage to buying SSR direct and it is just not cost-effective at all .
