Does anyone know if I can pay for someone to take DME? :confused3 And if so, what the cost is?

My mom might be joining us on our upcoming trip, but doesn't need all the extras we have in our package so I was just going to add her to the room once we got down there. If I do this, though, she won't be able to take the DME with us.

Report to the Magical Express welcoming area, then go about 30 feet to the left and the Mears Transportation counter is there. After buying a ticket you will probably be put on the same buses as Magical Express guests.

It's something like $18. one way.

I think your mom can take Magical Express if she is put on your room reservation. The question I have is, can she be put on the room reservation without buying a park ticket and all the other package stuff?

Add her to the room ahead of time. Then you can book DME for her ahead of time -- for free.

Anyone who is booked in a room at the Disney-operated WDW hotel can book DME. The guest does not need to be booked under a package.

Except that they will be sharing a room, doesn't everyone in the room have to be on the same package?

That's a good question.

But everyone staying in a room also has to be registered in that room.

Yes, she will be staying in our room which means she would have to have the same package as we do which she doesn't need nor want. That's why I was going to add her to the room once we got there (I am more than willing to pay for the extra adult), but then she couldn't use DME, hence why I was asking if I could just pay for her to take it.

But here's what I don't understand. If she is staying in your room, wouldn't her room key have all your dining info on it, basically enabling her to use your dining credits? Are you sure they simply allow you to "add folks" on once you get there? Did you check with Disney reservations to see if you can add her upon arrival without paying for the package for her?

From what I have heard from others, you CAN pay to ride DME. It's $17pp one way. Once she's added to the room res, she'll be able to book the return journey on DME for free.

You may want to check into the "adding her to the room at checkin" I belive that in a package deal "everyone in the room" must have the same package. I say this because I was bringing a friend of my DD's with me and her parents didnt want to have the dining plan for her. As she was going to share a room with my DD's I had to pay for the dining package for her or not have my DD's on the dining plan. So I paid for her meals and she spent her food $$ on souveniers. I was going to have to pay for most of her meals anyway as her dear mother thinks a person can eat for $15 a day at disney. Which I am sure can be done if you never go to a character meal or eat in a sit down restaurant, or buy that extra bun and share your burger and fries. I just cannot see my DD's doing this. There would be quite a fight for the food, HMM but what a show. I taped one of their fights once and showed them it a few days later. They have not had that kind of fight since as they saw how stupid they looked. LOL I have taped them ignoring also now they talk/work it out much better.
