Paying for checked luggage glitches

This morning I'm unable to pay via credit card for our checked luggage on Delta. I'm fine with the baggage fees but would like to do it online as you don't get the extra fee added on that way.

I've tried several cards, Discover, Visa and a M/C.....and it keeps coming back saying my card has been "declined". Get real. HAS to be a website glitch but dang, will this force me to pay those extra fees?

Has anyone else experienced this? Did you find a solution?
 
Reminds me - Airtran won't take any of my cards online to pay for luggage or do upgrades. I can book airfare but that is it - I need to email them. I have no idea what your problem is (or mine) but I do sympathize with you as its very annoying.

I have used Visa many times to check bags on Delta. I know that does not help you, but just know it "should" work. Good luck.
 

If you are having difficulties, when you get to the airport if you see a special services representative (not use the Kiosk) to check in you can explain that you tried to pay your baggage online, but it wouldn't go through and if they can charge the lower rate.

The other option is to call Delta.
 
We had this happen on AirTran a few years ago when they charged more when checking bags (first bag was still free) at the airport vs checking them online. We explained to the counter agent at the airport that the online site would not allow us to check and pay for our second bag online. They allowed us to pay the lower online fee to check it at the airport.

If a company wants to promote people to pay online to save them and their customers costs, they need to make sure their site works properly.
 
Check to be sure your ENTIRE billing address is fitting on the line. My CC got declined by Airtran several times last year when booking a flight. I didn't realize that part of the last word was getting cut off (I guess my address is too long). Anway, when I split up the address between the 2 lines, it went through fine. Just a thought.
 
I emailed Airtran about my glitch today -- we will see what they say.

Pretty sure its not a billing address issue as we have a very short address - couldn't put it on two lines if we wanted to and its the same billing address I use for the other two in the family. What I think is ironic is I have an Airtran Visa and that is what I typically try to pay with!

Hope they get it fixed for me.

I hope so too Liz. I was just now (11:30pm) finally able to print ours. Absolutely no clue why it didn't work befpre but now it does. LOL
