I just ordered myself a laptop for our November trip which comes with a 56k modem and a wifi card.

We'll be staying in the villas of somerset and then AKL - and I'd like to send a few emails while we're away - and maybe check the DIS(!).

How can I get PAYG internet connections? If I wanted to do so in the UK i'd wander into currys or smiths and pick up a free cd to join tiscali or wanadoo or whatever and I'd only pay call charges at a local rate.

I figure I need to do the exact same thing in the states -is that right? Any one got any advice for me?

Thanks in advance

RJ

We have just used http://www.budgetdialup.com/

Everything worked ok and you pay NOTHING unless you go over 5 hours. Even then it is cheap. Just download the dialler before you go then when you arrive take the phone lead in your room out of the phone and stick it into your laptop.

Similarly, for dial-up I use Juno - www.juno.com this allows local call connections from virtually anywhere in the USA.

For wi-fi or LAN, I find that most hotels in USA (other than Las Vegas it seems) have free access in guest rooms

Fantastic thanks guys - I did find a company who do "PAYG" but I had to buy $20 credit up front - which equates to about 5 hours and I'm not sure I'll use that much.

I'll check some of these out.

Thanks again

You pay as you use, plus its a broadband connection as opposed to snail up

Obi Wan - did you stay at one of the hotels listed as mine isn't there or did you go to one of the retsuarnats?

I took a trip to one of the hotels on World Drive, went into the atrium, got my self a cup of coffee from the cafe and logged in :-)

Also, Starbucks had the connections as well
